  • quite possibly the best bass line i've ever heard, everrerererererr.

  • The best version by far. Always been in my top ten of any group and always will be.

  • Listen to that fuckin guitar!

  • @SubjectToConditions: I'm glad I'm not the only one. It is so frickin' SICK!!! I could listen to that riff ALL DAY.

  • ONE M0:00RE TIME!!

  • morrissey is a lyrical genius but johnny marr's guitar playing was the icing on the cake. the riffs made the songs so catchy they stick in your mind.

  • I always liked this version better

  • @deathmortis03 me too

  • Bangers & mash

  • Pork and Beans

  • Salt & vinegar

  • Cheese & Onion

    Laurel & Hardy

    Beans & Toast

  • Lennon & Macca

    Gilmour & Waters

    Mozzer & Marr

Good apart . . . Just amazing together

    & that's the point

The Smiths would not have & could not have been the fantastic band that it was without them both . . . Simples

  • @Silvergoldstarfish gallagher and gallagher .....

  • @Silvergoldstarfish ... don't forget Doherty & Barât

  • Not for the epileptic Smiths fans.

  • 33 people can fuck off now

  • @joydivision808 and that other douchebag too (#34).

  • In my mind, this is the perfect song :)

  • I'm just discovering Morrissey and the Smiths. I am getting use to Morrissey and his unique brilliance, but my God, Johnny Marr is effing incredibly amazing. What a genius!

  • @Eeohippus the other 2 guys are good too.

  • Morrisey is THE Charming Man!

  • i want this played at my funeral

  • This song was played at my mates funeral today :'(

  • great posting..thank you.looking forward to seeing him at glastonbury.

  • Marr is god.

  • everyoone seems to forget how important Marr was to the Smith's, he practically made the foundation for every single Smith's song and yet Morrissey seems to be presented as 'the genius behind it all'

  • @18andover i agree I actually ind his stuff a lot more bearable (not great necessarily) than other stuff on the radio (Akon, J-lo etc)

  • is sooo gayyyy!! i think i will stop to listent this music

  • @vistared well, I think is also a bit of a dick.. but I still like this song :)

  • @18andover its because talentless pointless music

  • jesus christ, andy rourke's bass sound here is amazing.

  • If you love the Smiths as I do check out Viva Mars covering this song

  • damn this i a great song and all i see on this is peoples hate

    just shut up and listen

this song is fucking brilliant (and version)

yes morrissey is sorta of a prick but he made and sang these songs (well wrote them)

and anybody that dislikes "this charming man' has mental problems

    it's fucking awesome

  • I like this version.

  • @18andover Thank you. While I don't care for his music, he's a legitimately talented musician who can sing and play multiple instruments...better than a lot of other pop artists these days.

  • this sucks hard

  • @18andover sorry but thats a horrible thing to say. seriusly he is just there to make money. people making fun of him is great! the people are finally waking up!

  • @18andover I agree

  • I would die to see them play this live ._.

Love love LOVE this song to death <3

  • This sounds great <33 the smiths rule

  • 28 people disliked this video because it was their personal preference that all human beings in the free world is entitled to.

    Titties.

  • i would vomit over my keyboard if bieber covered this song

  • @rickysolomon haha you made me laugh but hey if he did i would give him props for attempting

  • @18andover

    Propellers?

  • @rickysolomon Did I just hear the most stupiditist thing just right now!.

I would have to kill Justin Beiber if he covered this song...

    Then after kill myself...

Your a disgrace to the humans.

Just get out of here and go home and kill Yourself.

  • @rickysolomon That Would be good for Beiber.People Are Just Hating..

  • @rickysolomon No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Just shut up about Justin bloody Bieber. This is REAL Music. Not his excrement.

  • @rickysolomon No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Just shut up about Justin bloody Bieber. This is REAL Music.

  • @rickysolomon fuck you dip shit

  • @rickysolomon Your an enourmous faggot.

  • @TheHigginns

I think its quite ironic, a Smiths fan using the word faggot in a derogatory sentence..

  • @The1ne07 because he said "your" in the possessive, he was merely stating that you own an enormous faggot. ;)

  • this versions less rollickin then the album one, good nonethless

  • @TheNadster2 The definitive version ...Peel versions usually are and this is no exception.... the perfect pop song in every sense

  • @dermot51 strangely enough I agree with you two weeks later

  • Great Vid, Dude =) !!!

  • man I love the smiths, I wanna collect all there albums on vinyl :D.

  • JOHNNY MARR!!!!!!!

  • God they burned brightly for just a few years but did and said so much more than a lot of the bands that are around now!

  • is this the swing version?

  • @Stube437 Don't know, cool version anyhow!

  • will love it 4 ever=]=]

  • Sorry, but i'm sick of all this "Mozza worship", I love the Smiths, but personally can't stand MoRRISSEY. His ego ultimately was bigger than the band and was the cause of their break up, so how the fans can ignore the facts is beyond me. The real reason the smiths were so great was because of the sum of the parts, not because of Morrissey, and I think people are quick to forget this.

  • @moewishaw "His ego ultimately was bigger than the band" is an opinion, not a fact. Please don't try to present it as such.

  • @moewishaw The Smiths was Morrissey and Johnny Marr. Morrissey was the front man and Smiths fans are obviously going to adore him. And no, it wasn't just Morrissey that caused the breakup of the band; the huge pressure on Marr having to manage the band on top of playing in it, not to mention he was only in his early 20's, also contributed majorly. All bands have to break up, it's better they break up and leave an amazing legacy than fade into mediocrity.

  • @moewishaw I agree with you.

  • @moewishaw if that were true then how come he has so many great solo songs?

  • @moewishaw i agree. tbh i think the essence of the smiths is in marrs guitar playing and the other members (including morrissey) finish it off perfectly.

  • @moewishaw Amen to that. While I like some Morrissey songs, they lack the incredibly delicate instrument interplay which only the Smiths can offer.

I think I prefer the other recording of this song, but I think that's 'cause I heard that one first. I miss the quicker tempo and more colourful reverb

  • @moewishaw Too true, brother (or sister).

  • @moewishaw I could easily listen to Smiths music without Morrissey's voice, but could I listen to it without Johnnny Marr's guitar? No fucking way!

  • @tcvicesquad What about Morrissey's lyrics? Don't think you could and your American.

  • @stusafc37 Lyrically, he's brilliant no question about it! But he can be a bit too much of an annoying, preachy little fuckwit at times. It's the sound of The Smiths I love more than anything, they're brilliant musicians... alot of the time I couldn't give a fuck what Morrissey has to say.

  • @tcvicesquad so you don't like viva hate then?

  • @tcvicesquad Marr's guitar IS good but Morrisseys voice is the Smiths, he's got the best voice on the planet and the most unique and identifiable.

  • @tcvicesquad I totally feel the same way, but i kinda get the feeling that Morrissey sang like that just to poke peoples buttons. Which makes me like him a little more than i normally would.

  • @moewishaw true to a certain extent, you cant deny his talent as a lyricst though, the smiths wouldn't have made it with a different frontman, or guitarist, bassist and drummer. I think his ego is much bigger post-smiths, if you look at interviews during the smiths he often complements the rest of the band.

  • @moewishaw I second this:

Just listen to the band behind Morrissey during The Smiths and Morrissey (the band). The comparison is not even close. One is a ground-breaking sound, the other a studio band.

The great irony is that Morrissey (the performer) has become a caricature of his former self and embodies some of the exact positions he railed against as a youth (See Paint a Vulgar Picture.)

  • @moewishaw I agree completley, Morrisey is a twat, but his lyrics ARE good, though

  • @moewishaw great point, i can't stand Morrissey as a man or a solo artist.

  • @moewishaw

    Very right.

  • I'm sick and tired of "24 people don't know about music" isn't it allow to dislike something? grow up and change the bloody subject, please for mental health.

  • @Scotiago

    you're right

  • @Scotiago I agree. But equally I should continue to be allowed to think that Justin Bieber fans have a sh1tty taste in music.

  • @CanUblameus True, you're free to think and say what you want - otherwise I wouldn't write what I've written. (and I agree with you about Beiber)

  • @Scotiago for real cant go to any video without some dumbass mentioning the JB word or how many people dislike it. AH im doing it myself! goodbye

  • @Blazinnn89 all what you wrote is just the answer and the efect of how fame can be so close to any average person in this globalized world and how media choses for us what we have to watch. There is people like that and there will be, we cant do anything about it. I myself didn't know who this teenager was until I read the comments section unfortunately.

  • @Scotiago Well, this is the internet, here everybody is entitled to have the wrong opinion.

  • @barbafant yes indeed but it is complex, I personaly like classical music, Brahms, Litz, Mussogorski, Korsakov and some other masters but that doesnt make me think that I'm right over someone who likes... Shakira, but it just shows that some people think different because we had a different school or we've taken some different roads in life - still not saying that those roads are the right ones. We all think different and it is healthy for all but it has brought us problems too.

  • @Scotiago Agree, that and watching every fucking top rated comment mentioning teen idols.

  • @Scotiago I like how you've inadverternyl capitalised off a hate the dislikers comment. Lol. Only jokin.

  • if anyone has the bass tab to this version, could you send it to me please?

    much appreciated <3

  • 24 People have their monitors the wrong way round HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Great footages, great video, very valuable work on this Peel session track. Man...you makes my day!

(You are a true fan of this man we love, for sure!!)

  • Love me some Smiths.

2nd best band of the 80s behind New Order.

  • @LTandDS

... who never made a great album and wrote doggeral lyrics.

  • @bollockowithalob LOL I count 5 great albums for New Order but to each their own I guess.

  • @LTandDS

Well, 'Low Life' isn't too bad.

You wanna have your ears washed out.

    Good day to you.

  • morressey wouldnt need a stitch to wear to come with me ;D hahahhahaha XD

  • ADORAVA ESTA BANDA MUITO BOA.MORRISSEY AMO DE PAIXÃO.

  • cool morrissey slideshow man.... like my friend used to say: "I am heterosexual but I love that man"....

  • Who's playing rythm guitar?

  • @whoareyou342 Johnny Marr. Great guitar player and hugely influential in the UK. Unique style that is very difficult to copy. Now in The Cribs and recently worked on the score for the film 'Inception'.

  • @Easyandy100 But wasn't this a live broadcast? He couldn't have played rythm and lead at the same time...

  • @whoareyou342 The Peel Sessions weren't recorded live. They were recorded at Maida Vale studios in London by the BBC (often criticised for their sterile sound). The Smiths did have a second guitarist for a while for their live shows (recorded on the album 'Rank') but Johnny Marr played all his own guitars in the studio as far as I know.

  • too many irish immigrants in the uk i can remember a lovely time without these lazy bastasds god bless the poles

  • @msangh2003 Then you must be about 300 years old, which possibly accounts for your dementia.

Please do come and call me and my hard-working family (of Irish ancestry) lazy bastasds to our faces. Though we'll probably have to ask you what you mean a few times, if your spoken English is as shit as your written English.

    Dickhead.

  • love is the answer

  • Thank you Mr. Marr... but........ what a fucking killer bass line, andy rourke... superb !!!!!!!!

  • If I was a boy I woulda done him. He's so freaking cute and quirky and that VOICE!!

  • What a great tune. Oh and yeah what is a doof guys?

  • shut it u mugs

  • He has a great voice, reeks of the 80's and makes me nostalgic

  • this video was made by the dj who plays videoa at the really popular gay club in whatever town you live in. It's actually a really crappy space, but for some silly faggy reason, all the puffs turn out in droves and congregate in this stinky, gross, fabulously icky club. And all of the gays meet up there and give each other titty twisters and smack one another in the balls. Anyway, this is the video that the gay club DJ put together. And he's very proud of his fag video art.

  • @zackjmack

    homophobia makes you cool

  • @zackjmack Dude, you're a big obvious troll, and now you've been spotted. At least you made me laugh with that nonsense story!

  • @zackjmack You are that DJ aren't you?

  • me gusta este tio!

  • i wanna find a version where he like....."shreaks" right before the chorus

  • @littleaskater137 Search for The Smiths - This Charming Man. It is the first video that appears. You can also search for the New York version, there's some shrieking there, too.

  • @littleaskater137 it's called the peel session version, and it lacks the drums at the beginning

  • he always sings about bicycles and being sad-I LOVE IT!

  • So much better than the Death Cab for Cutie version. Ben Gibbard totally messed it up. Ah well.

  • Love the song but is just me or does the video completely lack any bass?

  • @carumbasra There's definitely bass.

  • anyone want to recommend me any artists like this??

  • wonderfull. absolute class.

  • Morrissey is this charming man

  • rocks.

  • I wish my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather were still alive. They knew so much more about everything.

And so did my Grand mother and so does my Grand father on the back end of his innings.

    Remember the times.

  • Is this song dedicated to morrisey's boyfriend?

  • @imptuner Stfu.

  • @tubingan I was asking haha

  • @imptuner Dont ask a stupid question. Enjoy the music.
