  • KC, I don't see how the distinction you are making about the intent of the Treaty of Tripoli has any bearing on Siverman's use of it here. You are crediting the founders with saying precisely what Silverman is saying - that although the US happened to be a majority-Christian nation, Tripoli needn't fear that it was an officially Christian nation.

    Interesting as well that you seized on that one point. Do you have any response to anything else Silverman said re: the constitution?

  • Silverman....MORON! You like so many others of your ilk, cite the Treaty of Tripoli. You MUST interpret any historical document within it's sphere of purpose, and intent. What it was doing was assuring Tripoli (a Muslim area) that they would not suffer injury from America because of their beliefs, because we did not have a "national Church" as did England and other countries. That's all they were trying to convey. Period!
