  • bad end we want to see vader vs sidious

  • This is an Master Piece!

  • The best fight scene in the Saga

  • Why does everyone say 3:08 is the best part? 5:58 is the climax and is the best...before...The bluray accident;(

  • @tmzissupergay

it's the second part of the real 'Return of the Jedi'. First Luke passes the test of the temptation of the dark side, and secondly Anakin Skywalker returns.

  • Nice suit Darth Vader, it must have cost, an arm and a leg ;)

  • yes! glad i could watch this without the stupid "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

  • Seriously, the battle scenes in the older movies are even better than in episode 1-3.

  • pause at 1:04 lol

  • Anakin's respirator getting electrocuted by Sidious's lightening killed him and Luke taking his mask off.

  • Very stupid of Luke to throw his lightsaber down. Never lower your defenses. His father even told him something good.

  • Sorry I think Luke is the chosen one. Not Anakin, Luke looked looked just to powerful and kicked so much ass to say Vader destroyed the Sith. I think Lucas contradicts how own creation from the fans' perspective.

  • @1:08 Luke's expression made me think of Anakin's expression in ROTS.

  • RIP Bob Anderson and the duels in the Classic Trilogy were more realistic and intense.

  • 3:44 Darth Vader:not again!

  • This is way better than any CGI crapfest. Sure, it might not be as pretty and kill as much time, but the newer movies were TOO choreographed. They lacked any real sense of danger or brutality. Sword fights aren't supposed to last a long time, anyway. Way back when, they tended to be settled in a few strokes. This is raw and emotional.

  • I hate the emperor!!!!!!! Gay force lighting....

  • @kieranprint agree

  • It is sad how bad Darth Vader's breathing is. You can really hear how hurt he is...

  • This scene has so much emotion in it, It maters not that there is no fancy duelling like the fight between anakin and obiwan, lukes anger and pain and his venting of his frustration show clearly and make this more powerful than any rendered, ridiculously long fight.

  • 3:43-3:46

if you think vader acts like a pussy in the prequels. this shot in ROTJ has vader moaning like a whiny child pouting for losing.

  • vaer has no problem chucking the emporor into a bottomless whole without his dominant hand, bud cant handle it when little lukey gts upset. Wtf

  • 1:40

"It's over father! I have the high ground!"

"Oh no! That's not gonna work this time!"

    (throws saber)"

  • Am I the only one who thinks the part when Luke goes out of the shadows and drives Vader on the bridge is way more epic than the whole battle with Darth Maul? I mean I love "Duel of Fates" but I can't help feeling deep emotions about this particular fight here.

  • Older movies rocked. Sure, some of the special effects were cheesy, but at least they had -real- sets and not actors dancing around in front of a green screen.

  • What is that song when Luke comes out of his hiding and fights. What is the name of that song!!

  • @endoftimesisnear It's called "Battle of Endor II (Leia is Wounded - The Duel Begins). Go to the 5th minute and you've got it ;o) I also love this one.

  • What is it with the Skywalkers and severing limbs?

  • This vas true Star Wars 3:10-3:40 music, actors, special effects everything is perfect in this scene.

But then Phantom of menace, clone wars, ahsoka tano, jar jar binks, ewoks, those many bad and awful games, pointles movie releases again and again.

  • lucas threw all threw special effects at us with the final prequel trilogy duel, yet this one beats it with pure intensity and being deeply invested in the character of luke.

  • 3:15

Greatest 30 seconds in the entire series,

  • George Lucas fucked up this scene in the blu-ray release by making vader scream NO!!!!!!

  • I fucking hate the eWoks!

  • Who the fuck would wanna be Darth Sidious's Apprentice??!?!?! he's fucked up and so ugly

  • @IFHTSM yeah i wouldn't

  • This is the best movie of all times

  • What is the music called at 3:10? I can't find it anywhere. Please help. :)

  • @TheNiceAnders Final Duel / Into The Death Star

  • @TheNiceAnders

"The Battle of Endor II" is the name of the piece in the OST. Send me a private message if you can't find it, I have an mp3 of it somewhere.

Also, the music alternates between what's going on on Endor and in the Emperor's chambers so the musback and forth ..

  • It's over father...I have the high ground!

  • yeah

  • heres what ithink:how can you turn to the dark side for 2 kills i mean u can still be a jedi so luke probaly wouldnt turn if he killed them both

  • Love this scene..i remember everyone in the cinema went nuts when vader picked up Palpatine and threw him over the edge...

  • 6:35 i think here is the last moment when vader used power of dark side

  • I can imagine Vader at 1:30 having horrific flashbacks of the last time his opponent had the high ground.

  • luke: "never... (throws away lightsaber)"

vader: "I wouldnt have done that"

okay fine take your stand as a jedi but dont throw away your lightsaber, thats just asking for force lightning ass whoopin!!!!

  • 3:42 Vader: "NOT AGAIIIIN!!!!"

  • luke grabs his lightsaber with the force and stabs the emperor in the chest. the emperor looks up at vader saying: "YOU..WERE...SUPPOSED...TO BLOCK THAT........."

  • Why is Mark Hamill always have to play a character who fights with somebody with a black cape?!

  • Vader: I used to be a Jedi just like you, then i took a lightsaber in the knee, and the other knee, and the elbow, and then i fell into lava

  • @ColdF6 He wasn't a jedi anymore when that happened, learn your Star Wars bro ham

  • With the amount of hate in these comments, you'd think only Sith Lords watch this to learn from old mistakes.

  • 3:08 - 3:50 So epic. I always have chills.

  • dont touch my son motherfucker

  • 0:08 BACKFLIP LIKE A BOSS

  • What the heck are all of you people arguing about??? Yeah maybe Star Wars have many ups and downs that make us criticize it wildly but the thing is Star Wars is one of the best movies of all time! Both trilogies present a story one way or another and you can learn something from it. If you don't like it then don't watch it. But never ever say that it is a crap because you can't make a story better than this.

  • little kids who say this movie is crap because it doesn't have epic lightsaber duel is an idiot. this fight is the best fight because it has meaning to it, luck holds back on killing vader because he wants to protect his sister and bring aniken back, in the prequles, i dont understand and dual in all movies, there boring and make no sence.

  • music 3:10 - 3:40 is presenting love i think

  • The music is sublime at 3:23

  • @OOGuizmoo cause all ppl (i think) knows that luke win this battle

  • This is like the best thing ever. I saw Jedi when I was a kid and nothing matches it.

  • People criticize the prequels and say they "wildly swing their swords everywhere!" No, they use them with actual style. I like this movie, but actually Luke is the one swinging his lightsaber with no class.

  • @tsachessler any fight in the OT has a million more times depth then any fight in the PT and that's what people get actually pissed about. The PT featured characters with no character, characters who were ignorant and/or stupid, and a plot with crazy gaps in it. The script sucked, the camera angles sucked, and the overall direction of all 3 prequels sucked. They are films that can only be enjoyed through the battles because they look cool. But nothing else in the movie is actually good.

  • @tsachessler In most of the original trilogy movies, characters use lightsabers like real swords. In this particular fight, Luke swings wildly because he's overcome with emotion. He can't match Vader in a duel, but he manages to overpower him because of his love for his sister.

Just because the prequel fights were intricately choreographed doesn't mean they have "style." They're all flash, no substance.

  • ever noticed how the jedi's like luke for example gets more powerful when he gets angry cuz the dark side is actually more powerfull? also in epi; 1 where obiwans master dies, he gets angry and is finally able to kill darth maul ? duhh sith ftw

  • Even after all these years, this scene still gives me goosebumps.

  • what actually made vader die

  • @8NickzB He got eletrocuted

  • @8NickzB you can see his skeleton lighting up from the force lightning.

  • 1:25 eww why is he doing that?

  • 3:08 - 3:46 is the best moment in the whole saga, everything has been leading up to this.

  • @HelmutVillam Exactly and the music is breathtaking at this moment. john Williams is genius.

  • @HelmutVillam the music with it is brilliant

  • @HelmutVillam Dude the music gets so strong and emotional and epic during that time! I keep replaying it at 3:08 lol.

  • The best part of their battle is at 3:08. Luke throws a tantrum. The music is great to, i guess.

  • @themettaloid1 I knew I'd heard that music before. They play the same piece when you create your first lightsaber as a Jedi Knight in Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Love that music. Love that scene. Hell, I love that movie.

  • @Qaoz yeah. Its groovy. But i do like some serious duels sometimes, so i watch episode 3. Anakin vs General Kenobi.

  • Anakin Skywalker = worst father ever

  • "You undiestimate the power of the dark side"

  • RIP Bob Anderson :(

  • anyone know the music around 3:09?

  • @DalekBen a jedis fury

  • 1:41 This time Vader was wise and destroyed the high ground.

  • RIP Bob Anderson

  • RIP real life Darth Vader

  • :D Yay! A video where people don't jump on the Prequel hating bandwagon, and agree that the prequels are good. That makes me happy. Also, Rest in Peace Bob Anderson :'(

  • RIP Bob Anderson!

  • Descanse en paz, Bob Anderson!!

  • RIP Bob Anderson

  • RIP Bob Anderson---the English Olympic Fencer/Stuntman who did the actual saber fighting in the Vader costume, both here and in The Empire Strikes Back. May The Force be with him.

  • GOD! I LOVE dubstep. Nice drop.

  • Love that music at 1:45 :)

  • Hello. I do not work for Lucas in any way, shape or form, and I think the prequels were just as good as the originals. Thank you. Your credulity is available for pick up at the door.

  • those 15 dislike's are star trek fans

  • @LILBABYBEATS lol so true

  • Luke- "Its over Father. I've got the high ground.

Vader- "Fu*k that shit son. (throws lightsaber)

  • @EverythingsUpload Yeah, he's not going to make that mistake twice. :)

  • @EverythingsUpload guess vader learned his lesson huh lol.

  • @EverythingsUpload ye lol in episode 3 obi says same thing and anakin fucks up XD now he's probably like fuck that shit not again XD

  • IStar Wars turns 35 years old in May. 35 long years...and it's just as popular now as it's ever been. There aren't many things in life that you can say that about, honestly. I consider myself fortunate to have witnessed these films. My girlfriend discovered these recently, and she loves them. My eight year-old nephew loves them. The Star Wars films are the most timeless films in all of movie history, in my opinion. They were the total package, and set the standards of what a film 'should' be.

  • 15 people had their sisters threatened to join the dark side

  • in the end, it's always father's love baby, father's love...love this scene! :D

  • Don't mess with a guys sister.

  • Just want to give massive kudos to Bob Anderson who was the swordmaster & choreographer in the films and actually played Vader when he duelled with Luke. You are amazing!

  • Best scene in star wars history!

  • I still choose to watch the older movies over the prequels... To me they are so much more amazing... Not because they were from my era, but because they generally tell the Star Wars story in a much more precise way.

  • The way he smashes the crap out of him wow

  • Comment removed

  • "There is... no...conflict."

  • this whole video made me tear up a little, god i am such a nerd sometimes.

  • I love the symbolic nature of seeing his skeleton, when he is electrocuted. We see how much of him is machine but also see the man inside the monster.

  • everyone always hates on the Prequels.. personally as a Star Wars fan i love them both and both have ups and downs .. Obi-Wan vs Anakin/darth vader and Luke vs Vader are two of the best scenes in the trilogy in my opinion and both come from the two differing Star Wars eras .. i honestly don't like people hating on either one

  • @epic635 I will say this: The prequels had amazing, well-designed worlds, fantastic fight choreography, and great costumes. Unfortunately, the script was crap and Hayden Christensen did NOT do a good job portraying Anakin. The original trilogy had a good script and great actors, but the fight choreography was laughable and some of the special effects are starting to show their age (but they were FANTASTIC for their time).

  • @TheZacula hmm i agree there, the prologue's script did make me cringe in places it was that bad .. but i do reckon that Hayden did a better job at the end of episode 3 portraying Anakin's darker side as Vader.. and agree with everything about the original trilogy for it's time it was incredible, and the final battle with vader and Luke was so brilliantly shot it still sets the bar today

  • @epic635 I think Anakin was awful at conveying the dark side. He looks like an angry 3 year old who didn't get any ice cream. Luke's hate when he fights Vader is infinitely more believable. I also cannot stand the Anakin V Obi Wan fight. It has no drama. You really don't give a shit who wins.

  • @ojideagu Of course, the plus of that fight is that it explains how vader ended up being basically a cyborg. With a lightsaber. And force powers (I will subscribe to the first person to correctly tell me where I got that.)

  • @JdawgWithNinjutsu That's the only thing that gives it any merit. I think the best word I'm looking for is "childish" The Anakin Obi Wan fight has none of the suspense and drama. It feels like a daytime cartoon rather than people fighting to the death. No emotion, no passion, no feeling. It is so gimmicky.

  • @TheZacula The fight choreography in the original trilogy at least looks realistic. The fighting in the Prequels seems so fake and over the top. I can't stand the Anakin V Obi Wan fight.

  • @ojideagu True, that fight was WAY over the top. However, the "realistic": combat in the original trilogy is not quite so. It was just a little too uncoordinated, most likely because one combatant was effectively wearing a helmet with sunglasses in a dark room, while in a heavy suit with a cape. Vader may have powerful cybernetic limbs and a heads-up display, but the actor playing him obviously did not.

  • @epic635 alright Lucas Jr.

  • @epic635, I agree completely. The prequels were extremely well executed and had their own moments of brilliance. Both lightsaber duels give me chills everytime I see them, especially the "final" battle with Vader and Luke.

  • @epic635 I like all episodes. Okay, Episode 1 is a bit to childish. But the rest is great. I even love Episode 3 the most. Because it shows Anakin and Palpatine changing. And it has no little teddy bears fighting the empire. I also don't understand people hating the prequels...

  • @epic635 Agree. I think it's trendy to bag on them. While there are downsides to the prequels (e.g. the acting performances of several characters), I think the basic storylines are solid.

  • @epic635 its not really prequells if the movies are watched in order, people are just going to bitch about how all the old stuff is better then the new, that type of mentality will always be there and there is no real way to stop it, so i just ignore them

  • @epic635 nah, the prequels just plain sucked. Darth Maul was the highlight of the films.

  • @epic635 Yeah cos the films have feelings and if you hate them then you are being nasty. Get a life mate. And by the way, the prequels aren't just bad compared to the originals, they're probably some of the worst films of all time. Hayden Christian is abominable at playing Anakin, and Mustafar is a COMPLETE copy of Mount Doom from LOTR!

  • oh mah god this movie is so good

  • I watched this movie more times as a kid than any other.. except, perhaps, for the animated version of The Hobbit!

  • oh and stop feeding the riddler troll everyone

  • WHY CANT I STOP TEARING UP WATCHING THIS?! IM SO EMBARRASSED

  • Darth Vader must be blind

  • Why did Luke look so stunned when he looked at Vaders arm chopped off

  • @jk560 He's stunned cos; 1-he could have killed his father and 2-he realized that his anger got the best of him and nearly turned him to the dark side. To be honest, I didn't know at first either until I read it up on Wikipedia.

  • Never threaten a righteous, powerful man's sister!

  • Anybody who likes the prequels, watch the Plinkett Reviews. It actually explains the complexity of how bad they are. All the characters in the prequels except for Obi Wan and Palpatine is written horribly, The story could have been alot better but as it is, is full of holes and is brought down by the badly written characters, and the acting in episodes I and II is just awful. Honestly, its all in the Plinnkett reviews

  • Let the hate flow through you.

  • NO VADER WHY DID YOU LIE DOWN?!

  • @dalektaliban If you want the truth its cause of his asthma problems.

  • 3:10 That Music's Awesome

  • 2:41 - 2:43 SEEESTER.

  • Comment removed

  • The reason why I think lightsaber fights like this are better than the stuff in the prequels is because there's emotional involvement between the characters. Just look at Luke in this scene. He gets fuckin' pissed and starts whaling on Vader like how a real person does. When does that ever happen in the prequels? Never.

  • @ex1lepr0

you came from Harry Plinkett, didn't you :P

  • @ex1lepr0 the only time i remember that happening in the prequels is when maul kills qui gon jinn and obi wan gets pissed at maul, but even then its too choreographed with too many flips and jumps and behind back swings

  • Lol my own Father cut my hand off . Lol my own son cut my robot hand off. IRONY :DD

  • whats the music called the begins at 3:10

  • @RobinJanssenBelgium The music that starts at 3:10 is "Final Duel / Into the Death Star"

  • 3:08 to 3:48 Best Soundtrack in the Saga almost but not quite Second to Anakin and Padme's Theme

  • 3:05 ...the ultimate showdown

  • Was this the original? It seemed like there was more dialogue than I remember. When Luke and Vader were fighting. Perhaps I'm wrong.

  • he has asthma

  • @arctic36 His lungs got burned dumbass

  • @VongolaAQW223 the poor guy he got burned, that's so sad dumbass

  • @arctic36 I know,I know

  • Luke was bestowed all the power of the force and jedi order, in order to establish the point he made

  • John Williams: f*cking genius

  • @Ahdaz1000 You're very brave to say that many would troll you for mentioning the prequels in their precious and perfect Original's.

  • 1:17 Luke jumps on the high ground and... Suddenly! "Can you stop this motherfucker??" - says Vader

  • I like the prequels better, but the episodes 4-6 is what got me first hooked.

  • The warm and approving smile of emperor

  • 6:30

Darth: Why don't we just take the Emperor... and put him somewhere ELSE!?

Luke:And that's how we saved the galaxy.

  • Real sets, real tensions, real fighting, real emotion, and real storytelling

Everything that was missing the Prequel fights

  • @Tacom4ster its not real fighting or real emotions.... but the acting is better.

  • anyone know what the song is at 3:27? I'm possibly going to make a star wars lightsaber short film and i might want to arrange that as an homage to the classic- it's very emotional :)

  • 15 people should meet them destiny... -.-

  • Although Sidious is my favourite character in Star Wars I've always felt this was a fitting end for him.

Killed by someone sacrificing themselves in the name of love (something it can be argued he could no longer feel!).

  • that scene between 6:58 and the ending makes me cry every time I see it

  • Hey they forgot Vader's big NOOOOOOO!!!!! from the Blu-Ray. THANK GOD, PLEASE LET THIS ORIGINAL SCENE BE SAVED SO I CAN SHOW MY CHILDREN THE REAL STAR WARS, NOT THE NEW BS

  • james earl jones fitted in that....0.o

  • @Sense0with0humor The guy is the Darth Vader suit isn't Jame Earl Jones, he is another actor, I cant recall the name, but actually the actor that played Vader didn't know they switched voice actors until the premiere of the movie...kind of awkward I bet in the theater 0_o... so yeah James only did the voice.

  • @Sense0with0humor it wasn't James Earl Jones in the suit its David Prowse in the suit

  • @Walkerandstuff and 6 more people said Mark

  • Comment removed

  • 15 people are just plane up assholes
