I hate this ending. It's a somewhat tame death compared to other traps, but Straum seems to be the only protagonist who gets things done sufficiently - and the fact that he's responsible for saving Hoffman is so frustrating! I know you shouldn't expect people to live in this series, but Straum was too much :(
As soon as I saw the walls closing in I would have immediately shot myself in the head. I can't imagine any pain being worse than being slowly squashed to death.

Can someone please explain to me how his arm is hanging out of the wall in the end? Does this not mean that if he stood a little over the left he wouldn't have gotten crushed? Or is this the angle from the top?..but there was metal caging there. Basically I'm very confused.
@shireeny90 his arm got crushed but his HAND which, was grasping the metal gating up, didn't. Even in death most people could keep their grip on things so his hand was able to hold the remainder of his arm up even after his death. as for how his hand escaped being crushed, there was enough space between the ceiling and the walls to keep his hand from harm, but not his body so it was saved from being crushed.

This trap isnt that bad if you get in the box. if you keep still and are wearing clothes the glass shouldnt cut you as much. My biggest fear would be claustrophobia but its obviously better than the alternative.

I could have survived this. You know the hole where the bow is lowered down into? Get the pistol and jam it in the cogs. Then lay on top of the glass box and the walls close in. If the glass box stops the walls, fair enough, if it doesn't I would take hoffman down with me.
No problem. The cops might be able to get through the top bit, get a razor and cut a hole through it, or if youv'e seen the start of saw 6, they could use the witch that Hoffman uses and open the room and make the walls go back
