  • I thought Tanglewood was the best version of Sparks, until I heard this. It's criminal that this isn't on the IOW DVD.

  • the hardest part is knowing that there probably won't be a rock band this good again...like the samurai said, you can't re-live an era...

  • lol, John messed up. He began the bass solo way before he should do

  • Best performance of Sparks ever, kicks the studio version's ass

  • pete townshend is one of th most underrated guitarrist ever.....for me the only guitarist who can compete with hendrix..is just awesome

  • I have trouble not singing "He's crazy if he thinks we're coming back again" at around 2:18

  • The chords at the beginning of this are just...just....DAMN! You WILL pay attention. The rest of it just melts the brain

  • WHY.. WHY.. WOULD THEY CUT THIS GREAT SONG OUT OF THE IOW DVD??

AND WERE IS IT NOW?? I WISH THEY WOULD JUST RELEASE THE CONCERT DVD'S JUST AS THEY WERE MADE LIVE! WISH THEY WOULD RELEASE THE COMPLETE SHOW ALL THE WAY TO THEM WALKING OFF THE STAGE. BYE THE WAY, THANKS FOR UPLOADING THE AUDIO OF THE SONG!!!

  • @WHOMEWHOYOU Unfortunately, the original film is either too far gone or complete dust by now. That's why they edited the IOW dvd the way they did.

  • PETE TOWNSHEND IS GOD ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • @GrungeMetalRocker Yes he fu**ing is, and your username sounds very familiar. Long live Pete and Roger!

  • @thedaileegirl

hahaha yea! really! from where? :D

  • @GrungeMetalRocker To quote Pete Townshend: "Shut up." ;)

  • @GrungeMetalRocker how old are you anyway? :)

  • @thedaileegirl

    me ? im 21 ! nd u ?

  • @GrungeMetalRocker i'm 19 and i wanna marry you atm because you love The Who. :) lol

  • @thedaileegirl

hehehe sounds gud 2 me! XDDDDDDD

  • @thedaileegirl

sure hehe lets get married !

  • I had to write a paper where I had to compare The Who and Led Zeppelin, and had tell why Zeppelin was better.... THAT was a hard paper to write. I <3 The Who so much. Moonie is the best :)

  • @beckabluesband Wow, I could never do that. I love them both equally. Both have helped me through some hard times. No need to compare the greats!

  • The lead up sounds like Foxy Lady sort of...

This band, at this point in time... There's just something about the combo of the delicate side of Pete's compositions and the raw energy of four guys who excel in their craft kicking out the jams like nobody else.

  • If I had three wishes, I'd wish to play drums like Keith (my idol), bass like John and guitar like Pete.

    Best band EVER!!!

  • HENDRIX CHORD, BITCHES

  • Why is the bass on the right channel and guitar on the left? Usually it's the other way around :S

  • moons is kicking some ass here

  • this is son the cd but not the video for some reason

  • it's kicks MAJOR ASS! Best of British!

  • I'M american but the brits rule when it comes to rock n roll.AMERICA INVENTED IT BUT THE BRITS

    TOOK IT OVER....LOVE ENGLAND.

  • How kick ass is this? I love how the chemistry of the band is working in this song and this whole concert as well. This is the period when The Who were so potent. I would give anything to see them in their prime!

  • Pete's playing good lead here.

  • The Who greatest live band ever

  • Oh to have been there .........

  • It's certainly possible this was never recorded for the film. Obviously, we're all fans of "Sparks," but if you're the square director (and he is a square judging by the DVD featurette), this was simply an instrumental that made a good time to reload all the cameras. It looked like it was just a couple guys with hand-held cameras, nothing like the professional filming of today.

  • Why is the video for sparks not on the isle of white dvd i wonder??????

  • My all time favorite guitar masterpiece.

    By far.

  • ROCK GENIUS.

  • No coverage but imagine having been there with the thunderous rhythm section adn the frontline of Townshend and Daltrey cooking up a storm.....imagine seeing the greatest ever band at its zenith. I'd pay a grand for the privilege.

  • That is so wrong, this song was composed in 1969...

  • @luksmr88 Sparks was actually composed in 1967, the same tune/riff is played at the end of the song Rael from 1967's 'Who Sell Out' album. Pete reinvented it for Tommy as 'Sparks'.

  • @SteveResin I always thought that it was underture. But, you have a point, sparks and underture have that same melody, exept in different keys.

  • wtf are you talking about? this is a WHO original, from the TOMMY album. are you crazy?

  • It's also a rendition of "Rael" off of 1967's Sell Out album...

  • somebody had no clue what real music is and the fact that this came first

  • You've got to be trippin'. On crack.

  • yeah come on, what they said.

  • @WookLife

    you're an idiot

  • @WookLife wtf?

  • @WookLife Retard alert.

  • @WookLife lol troll!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PETE!

  • i HAVE the dvd and they did the set in the wrong way as the yperformed it and left out half of tommy i have a cassette of the entire show from then and it is almost 4 hours long

  • i know! i was so pissed they cut out a bunch of it. still a great dvd though

  • i mean the audio with the footage

  • u can get it off amazon!

  • on the new dvd they released the have this song

  • Do you mean only the audio?

Did you mean in London Coliseum?

  • I hear this and know for a fact that I was born at the wrong time. And that this was left out the the DVD. That pisses one off.

  • the footage doesn't exist. All over the dvd they had to cut visuals from other songs into performances they were missing sections of. It was almost thirty years that this stuff was lying unused.

  • Pete solos great on this one! Also kinda slow and mysterious sounding (at the 1st few minutes) One of the best versions of this!

  • Where did you get the audio for Sparks for the Isle of Wight? I got the video but the cut Amazing Journey and Sparks out. :(

  • Yes they did. I got it from the audio CD.

They also cut: "1921" and "Smash the Mirror".

I think that this version of Sparks is the best one!, sounds really nice...

  • Yeah,I have the C.D also.Great concert!

  • they cut out all the good stuff

  • Its on Who C.D For Isle of Wight 1970.I own it

  • @rsaathoff >Yes, and these two pieces were my favourite performances from the Isle of Wight.......I should have returned it to the shop, lol.

  • Nice Photos! The Who rockss!

  • Excellent!, amazing song, Very good pics!

    Long live The Who!
