@KongoBoom there's a simple reason for it, in some (bigger) locks, you can place your thumb, holding the tension wrench on the bended end, having more place for the thumb to be on, rather than on the small part i'm touching when i'm trying to pick it at the end. also, I usually bend both sides the way I showed in the video, so I don't have to bother which side to choose.

@edward7513 I already answered that question, it's because I already have a video up (see my other videos to find it) where I pick the same lock with the same bending techniques, so I didn't want to make the video longer than necessary. Btw, the picking video was usually the initiator for this video, because a lot of people asked how I did it.

@L337MasterXD it depends a bit on the lock, this lock has a very narrow keyway, so a 45 degree bend wouldn't fit in the lock anymore, but you're right, I should've said that you would have to adjust that on the lock.
