im a massive f1 fan right. but im getting in to indy as well. firstly i like how you havnt ruined it with stupid overtaking buttons like we have in f1. but i have to wonder is this just a series for f1 failures and wannabies. for example wilson, bordais and i hate to say it sato have all failed in f1.but its still a great sport tho
Wow, these 10 minutes don't do justice to now much action there really was in that race, just way too many action, and too many crashes! That truly was a crash-feast! Still, that was a great race, some great racing, some awesome passes, and some upset drivers!

@TheHairyChimpanzee It's actually the other way around. IndyCar drivers race for position on the track much more often than F1 drivers. There aren't team orders. And an IndyCar champion must master both arts of oval and road/street racing.
At least this is real racing, F1 is just a parade. I like the IndyCar Series very much. Already following it since it's begin as a little boy with my father.. :)
Takuma Sato is a stupid weasel, yes I'm a Danica fan... But what he did there was just... Clueless. But it was a great race!
Is there anything such as a black flag in Indy Car! I would of waved it several times at several different drivers! Ganassi and his boys come out smelling like roses again! There is only one Indy Car race worth watching and thats the Indy 500!
@km10nner Monaco 2011. Button, Alonso & Vettel all fighting for the win all towards the end. A narrower track and they STILL managed to avoid the barriers
Indy street races are rediculous. My first year watching it and wondering why the hell are there so many full restarts instead of sector yellows? It causes the cars to just bunch up and repeat the whole crash process. Let them race and stop allowing them to crash!
Today's race was awful show, I have same bad taste after watching Edmenton 2010 when Indy again FAVORED Ganassi team by giving Helio (Penskee) the race leader a penalty for defending his position on last restart.. Helio didn't even cause a crash of god's sakes and he was given black flag... Today SAME FRUSTRATING EVEN OF INCONSISTENCY FROM INDYCAR. I don't UNDERSTAND THIS!ANGRY AT INDYCAR for CONFUSING THE FANS!
IndyCar fans should be excited about this race. I'm as big of a NASCAR fan as anybody but this race was WAY better and more exciting than any of the NASCAR races this weekend.
The rule reads "Avoidable Contact – A Competitor must not initiate or attempt to initiate avoidable contact that results in the interruption of another Competitor’s lap time or Track position." Marco's boneheaded inside move on that restart cost Servia, Wilson, and Hinch track position, and he admitted as much post-race that it was a "banzai move" that he regretted. But Race Control didn't even review it.
Over the initial start and 8 restarts, I counted only a total of 17 cars in the outside lane at the start-finish. There were NO true double-file starts or restarts. Don't believe what people say, watch and believe what you see.
Double file restarts get blamed way too much. Every Mario Andretti was bitching about it on twitter. Most of the incidents that happened during this race happened in turn 3 and where unrelated to the double file restarts. I know that it starts controversy but this series has been missing aggressiveness. Sure sometimes people get the bad end of it but I've gotten sick of follow the leader style restarts.
@TheChrisD hmmm the trends have been increased sponsorship, increased ratings, and and awesome concept for the 2012 Indycars, and 2 new engine manufacturers. i don't think Indycar is going anywhere but up.
@CraigHyphenO Australian GP 2008, Australian GP 2002 and many more. You can't blame racers after a few incidents. Look at Hamilton, probably the best in F1 but everybody criticized him like he were the worst after Monaco and Canada. If you like road racing, look at Simoncelli, talented but crashes to much. Petrov is doing decent now after his rookie season fulled with crashes.
@MyTennis2009 I'm not blaming/criticising any one driver though. They just all seemed to drive into each other in this race... And in quite a few IndyCar races that I've watched. Someone (I forget who) said 'To be first of the finishers, first you must finish.'
@CraigHyphenO Yes, I know your quote doesn't apply in F1(haha, just a bad joke). I googled it and it looks like Stirling Moss or Rick Mears said it first. The reason why they do it(drive in to each other) could be because they drive in street circuits of none f1 standards and every car is kind of the same. Both can use push to pass at the same time and must take risks. In f1, Renault Bull(joke too) easily passes everybody. Same top speed=harder to overtake. Look at GP2, future f1 drivers (Haha).
@CraigHyphenO Because none of these drivvers could ever dream to be F1 drivers....you can see why with all the dirty racing. There are many more indy cars in a race than F1 so these crashes are inevitable. The top drivers in the world are F1s
Brian Barnfart was seeping? He did nothing. All the mess and no penalty. It looks like last year, everyone blocking and no penalty. And in Edmonton he came with a penalty to Helio. He acts selectively.
And the restarts? Where are the double file restarts? I didn't see anyone. It was a mess. You can change lines, pass before green and much more.
@fandoautomobilismo I heard that they weren't going to do double-file restarts on street courses anymore after what happened at Long Beach when they tried them.
That would be lame if they did. Those double file restarts are keep me on the edge of my seat. Back then drivers talk about safety. Now they complain about double file restarts. Legendary Indycar driver Rick Mears give drivers advice on double-file restart:
"You know what? if I were out there, I'd be working out how to make those double file restarts work to MY advantage instead of sitting around bitching about it."
im a massive f1 fan right. but im getting in to indy as well. firstly i like how you havnt ruined it with stupid overtaking buttons like we have in f1. but i have to wonder is this just a series for f1 failures and wannabies. for example wilson, bordais and i hate to say it sato have all failed in f1.but its still a great sport tho
