@firefox721 triggers are small electronic pads that stick on youre bass drum head( or any other drum if you want) and turn the acoustic sound into an electronic drum. you dont hear the actual bass drum just an electonic sound. alot of fast double bass drummers use it to keep articulation and attack clear at very high speeds.

@Mattjoeyjunior12 Basically it is turning an acoustic drum set to a electronic set. Instead of have the natural drum sound they use a drum module or program. Lots of people are against it because no matter how hard you hit it it is the same volume. So people can easily cheat specifically on the kick. I am not against triggers. I use them but I only use them for recording and I play normal and use full power. They are OK as long as you dont cheat.

doesn't it depend on the triggers and on the module you have? i just have a (shitty) millenium mps-100 e-drum kit with a few upgrades and a alesis dm5 drum module and it's not always the same volume. it depends how hard you hit the pads. also the drum sound changes a bit, when you hit harder.

yeah i guess so. the dum module is the most important thing. the dm5 costed me 309 euros (ca. 430 dollars) and the drum set (before i upgraded it) was just 280 euros (ca. 390 dollars). i would like to have an acoustic drum set, but it's too loud and too big. in addition, i started playing 5 month ago and in didn't knew if playing the drums was something for me ;-)

You can't cheat even with triggers....... You "having them" should know this.

@DrummaMuFucka It depends on which module you have. If you have a module that is not sensitive to impact, then you can use very little power to achieve fast double bass drumming. I call this cheating because people are not using any power at all. Most drummers play normally though. there is just that little batch of drummers that always do this with triggers.
