  • I never liked Invader Zim.

  • 5:06 I love those shows... Too bad Netflex no longer has all 27 episode of Invader Zim...

  • I've been listening to these (and even though I am not a 90's child) and I think that the kids show channels (not the cable ones) should have a 80/90's day. I'd like to know what some of these are.

  • Thank You For Awake Me To Understand About The Fact of Why Saturaday Morning Cartoon Are Gone.

  • E/I requirements also killed the Saturday morning (and even weekday mornings/afternoon) stars on network television. With more E/I content, kids aren't ever going to watch shows mainly because there are little to no commercial breaks and education stuff. Also, most of the recent E/I syndicated shows aren't even well known media franchises. Plus, they can't even show commericals relating to that same franchise durring the show that features that franchise (like what happened with Pokémon).

  • Great video and great explanations!

  • I miss ren and stimpy, rockos modern life, animaniacs, and invader zim! its all about money today.. these networks dont give a flying fuck about quality television, they'll just let anything go..its funny about that child act passed int the mid 90s because kids and society back then had wayyyy less problems. however i dont agree with the anime part.. oh yes black it for the shitty animation being produced today..cartoonist today just dont have any creativity today..

  • ah, man! Invader Zim was my favorite. I was so sad when it ended. tragic

  • Good job

  • I miss the cartoons that I watched before I had to get ready for school! I loved the Loony Toons! I have a fucking Road Runner glass for gods sake! the classics will never be seen by the new generation or appreciated at all!

  • Do anyone remember Sunday morning cartoons? Ch13 Street Sharks lol

  • i wish my name is earl got picked up by tbs after it was cancelled i love that show

  • my favorite block was kids wb

then abc kids, later 1 Saturday morning

    and fox kids

i dont remember nbcs line up

  • ABC went to all live action and FOX recently just dropped all kids show and went to paid programing. Also years ago there used ot be some cartoons on weekday afternoons. That's totally unheard of now.

  • Very well said, cartoonfiend, very well said indeed. I totally agree with you on the cartoons getting too educational and stuff like that. The cartoons nowadays dont let us skip reality like they used to, and it's sad. The educational cartoons are like we never left school. I mean we need to be free every weekend not trapped in reality! Wheres the imagination that we all once had? The newer cartoons dont even make sense, theyre just random humor that could be funny, if they didnt overuse it, an

  • i was born in 87....damn i feel old as hell now lol

  • I remember watching Medabots in the morning during the week/weekend, and stuff like Hello Kitty.

  • They are starting to put on live action crap instead of good cartoons.

  • I am part of the last generation that sort of experienced this saturday morning thing. I was born in 1996. Every saturday I would wake up and watch Catdog and Rocko's modern life in the morning then switch over to Dragonball Z later, and then I would go outside and play with my friends. And all my friends did the same thing. Now, my little cousin only watches Fanboy and Chum Chum after school, and she stays inside all day.

  • 2:05 i totaly agree with you.

  • invader zim is back on nicktoons at 10:00pm every night

  • im 12 and my faorite cartoons are dungeons and dragons and transformers G1

  • Nicktoons Network picked up Invader Zim.

  • YES! I absolutely loved Saturday Morning Cartoons! Haha, I totally binged on Lucky Charms or Captain Crunch or whatever other cereal was in the house while watching them. I grew up in the late 80's and 90's and I totally miss watching cartoons every morning before school and everyday after school too.

  • You said it man. I remember those days. I wasn't around for TMNT or Batman. I was raised in the second half of the 90's but I still remember that feeling. How I miss that. =( When was TMNT around?

  • i do that wake up early big bowl of cerrial(or toaster waffles ALOT of toaster waffles)

but not fox kids, not cartoon network, not ANY of the three nick stations we got with cox I WATCH ANIMAL PLANET, HISTORY CHANNEL, DISCOVERY CHANNEL,TRAVAL CHANNEL, HELL I SOMETIMES I WAKE UP REALY EARLY LIKE 4:00 PM AND WATCH THE LAST FEW HOURS OF NICK@NITE

  • I have to agree with you CartoonFiend!

    Cartoons today suck...HORRIBLY!

    :(

  • I agree with your opinion. It is true that we got cable and satellite t.v. and the internet to watch our favorite cartoons and anime. One problem though, what about those who can't afford those luxuries. They are stuck with regular t.v. and they are stuck with the morning news, talk shows, court shows, paid programming, etc. I feel like such a heel when think about those who don't cable, satellite or the internet. :(

  • i see for some people its hard to move on fron childhood after 20 years... lol.....

  • I feel ya man. Street Sharks TMNT Sonic The Hedgehog all canceled what happened :/

  • We had a similar thing going in the UK. I think the large amount of kids' channels these days are definitely one of the big reasons the Saturday Morning cartoon died out; the same goes with kids TV in the mid afternoon after school.

I remember putting up a video recently showing that many kids tv channels just repeat the same things they showed over the last few years; I found that one channel showed nothing but Spongebob and Fairlyodd Parents for hours on end with nothing in between!

  • i remember that like it was yesterday

  • 3:22 Soul Calibur, LOL

  • I gotta say- I remember waking up early to watch cartoons in the morning. Then on Monday my friends and I would get together and play outside- inside- everywhere to act out the episodes we all saw and what we thought would happen next. Good times.

Now the kids I babysit can't ever do that because they watch different episodes on different stations at different times. Kids today have really lost that unifying factor of the 'new episodes' every Saturday morning.

  • ahhh the memories of saturday mornings...where it was the official start to my weekend. the freedom from the week of school. freedom is the perfect word for that moment. i personally remember watching fox kids majority of the time, but swiched to one saturday morning and kids wb...there where so many great shows. now all i can do is watch the disaster unfold :-(

  • back in like 1999-2001 when cartoon network aired good stuff they had cartoon cartoon fridays it was a great feeling getting done with school waiting until 8:00 then all the new good shows get on now i was not born when the so called Saturday morning cartoons existed but i think i know what u mean now cartoon network has all the new shows on Thursday i hear but the other day i checked out a new show that they aired and i guess all the new shows are on Monday at 8:00 UGGGGGGGGGG!!!

  • TheCartoonFiend, are you Italian?

  • Well said ;) We used to have Saturday morning blocks in the UK too, and our own dedicated time for kids' shows on weekday afternoons. Now it's all spread across the days and it's all repeats of Spongebob anyway. :(

  • I think the reason Saturday Cartoons aren't as big anymore is reason 3, we see what makes money and just do it. The kids this days don't know some of the stories we knew growing up with the Classic Turtles, Batman, Transformers, X-Men, so they just re-packaged it for now-a-day youth thinking it will sell toys and that's all that matters

  • I have to agree with you. Us people, who grew up in the 70s, 80s or 90s couldn't wait for saturday morning. It was a weekly treat. Tv these days is plain garbage and there's an odd show that we may watch. Long live the good old days of saturday morning cartoons.

  • say cartoonfiend

r u aware that ninja turtles, batman, x-men are comic books and not cartoon franchises made by whatever cartoon company?

  • Yes I'm quite aware that they were comics first. They were all, however, very popular cartoons back in the day.

  • true its also how most of us were introduced to them

  • @TheCartoonFiend its sucks nowadays because on Saturdays we have this channel called 4kids/Toonzai which is annoying because it has horrible cartoons on their.

  • @XxDarkVailxX Invader Zim's art and storylines were wonderfully dark and ahead of its time

  • @XxDarkVailxX Invader Zim's art and storylines were wonderfully dark and ahead of its time

  • AMEN AMEN AMEN THAK YOU

  • "Saturday morning isn't a time of day, it's a state of mind."

this NEEEEDS to be put on a t-shirt!

  • you know what sucked about being 13

(which I am by the way), all your saturday

morning cartoons are GONE, and now

you have no chioce, but to grow up!

  • no history channel is dead, I think. it's that channel with naked science, the univerese, and that jail stuff

  • Mr. Cartoon Fiend, I think this video is great & that you are 100% right. Cartoons nowadays stink & Saturday morning is dead.

I think everything you've said is 100% accurate. However, I have another theory you should consider:

I think one reason cartoons were so good back then is because they were aimed just as much for adults as they were for kids. Nowadays, it seems that cartoons are just aimed for kids instead of everyone, making them more childish & stupid.

    What do you think here?

  • Same with me.

  • I'm 32, and I still watch cartoons. Yeah, back then Saturday mornings had awsome cartoons. So did Sundays. I'm a bit disapointed in the crap we have now. Hell, cartoons got me to work and school early in the mornings, no joke! I even miss cartoon network before it sucked. Anime, american cartoons, I love them all. I just feel sorry for the kids today.

  • I hate cartoons today!!!

    I'm only 11

  • wow i miss saturday mornings...i was always afraid that i wouldnt wake up to see the cartoons...but then they stopped showing them one morning..nothing appealing came on Nick, KidsWB..or FoxKids...so i gave up..now i sleep in to about 10-11 on Saturdays..

  • Saturday Mornings...sigh, those were the good ol' days...I remember being around when the Saturday Mornings died. It was in the early 2000's, though, so it was a sad day when I woke up and there wasn't a single cartoon on I was interested in watching.

  • YTV Saturdays suck!!! spongebob all fucken day long

  • I miss Invader Zim, in my opinion it's the #1 Nicktoon. All that Nickelodeon has today are just lame teen drama and stupid cartoons like FanBoy and Chum Chum (GayBoy and Chum Fag)

  • this is why i like the internet. you get to go online, and see some of your favorite shows from way back when you were a kid. that's where i watch shows like, AoStH, Sonic Underground, and probably some other shows. when it comes to today's saturday morning cartoons, some are good, some are not so good. anime is usually good (but the japanese version is usually better), and only a good few Kids WB shows nowdays are good. one of my favs being Tom and Jerry Tales.

    thanks for uploading this! ;)

  • when i was little like (5 years ago haha) I didnt get up early for cartoons i got up early for Xena Warrior Princess and for like Beastmaster lol and then id stay up late watching adult swim haha i dunno i never got up early for cartoons onlly live action shows haha! my dad made me half the time but they were amazing shows

  • They don't need a little slack, thats the problem

  • I want my saturday morning cartoons back! Damn the basic cablenetworks for beinng cheapskates & only showing lame toons the past few years, I mean wh had great cartoons from the 60's-90's. Y2k killed the SATAM Cartoon.

  • 2000 was still good in Saturday morning. I have to disagree for that year. That could be your opinion. Saturday morning cartoons declined probably in my opinion was 2001.

  • This rants speaks the truth.

  • I Feel like a kid again, & I am only 24 too

  • now on saturday mornings i wake up and go to work :( i miss my saturday morning childhood. nickolodeon sold out. thank god i have high speed internet i can sumwat pretend im 10 again and watch the angry beavers :D

  • oh man dial up. it's been awhile since i heard that sound

  • Saturday Mornings are dead. They aren't coming back. Why settle for early programming when you can go out and buy every cartoon series you can think of on DVD?

When your kids today don't even know what the classics are, then that's proof that they have missed out, big time. Many channels used to air classic shows right beside the newer programs, and that's what I liked best. TV used to be more for the family, and it had something for everyone. Today, that's not around anymore.

  • i know the feeling is dead, but there is still Saturday morning cartoons. That is true. But they don't care about it anymore.

  • @AnimaniacsGuy I meant the decade in general, I still enjoyed saturday morning cartoons till around 04..but after that there was pretty much nothing left Except SonicX wich was only average at best. form 05-now they declined & now there almost dead, the CW is the only place with a real block anymore & I heard that may end in 2010. Oh well, saturday morning cartoons..you will be missed! thanks for the memories!

  • i don't know about that @soundmonkey44, Saturday Mornings will always be on TV, but it would be to a lesser extent these days. CW4Kids is not gonna end in 2010, because that is a rumor. How about weekday afternoon cartoons, they are getting rarer and rare these days. Because they are getting cancelled for live-action or talk shows. Back to your comment, soundmonkey44, you will never know til 2010. We have to just find out. Also, how about qubo? Anyway, Saturday Morning feeling has dyed down. RIP!

  • LOVE THE MEMORIES!!

  • i miss the good old days of when cartoons were actually good, samurai pizza cats, tmnt (80's version), the sonic cartoons, and other shows that we all loved as kids thoss were the days.

  • Kids today don't even know what they are missing out, I mean, near the end of last month, I knew a a friend of mine who has two brothers both five and six and they watch stuff like Spongebob and the newer renditions of Scooby Doo and I replied to their dad whom was driving me home at the time, that when I was a little girl, I was into Ninja Turtles, Looney Tunes and Animaniacs, and yet, the two lads never heard of the series, I think it's a real shame, cos that is still by far, the best

  • it worse then that because the F##king FCC is Saying that there can't be any dark children programming like back in the day, I want My goosebumps

  • blame Jamie Kelner, responsible for the cancellations of such good shows

  • Comment removed

  • I remember Saturday mornings used to have the best cartoons of the whole week, but then the amount of good cartoons started decreasing every year. It just makes me mad now.

And, don't even get me started on how low Cartoon Network has gone.

  • Are you tlaking aobut Gneration X (1965-1979) or Generation Y (1980-1995)?

  • *Talking

  • I agree, i hate recycled cartoon ideas so much. Like why is there 42 different versions of pokemon!! And naruto....it isn't that great, in my opinion.

  • Dude,I agree with ya 110% on this issue.

Plus it's funny the first quiote came from someone at NBC,the same "brainstormers" who thought that adding a Saturday Morning "Today" show would be a good idea. All it did was help Saturday Morinings "Jump The Shark" from what we used to know.(I'm still mad that CBS cancelled cartoons on Saturdays, and replace it with "The Early Show".THEY DON'T WATCH IT MONDAY THRU FRIDAY,SO ARE THEY GONNA WATCH IT ON SATURDAYS?!!!!)

    Okay,i'm calmed down now.

  • Cartoons are getting worse. Good shows with thought put into them are becoming less and less. Why do you think I am on here more often now? Because cartoons are not as good as they used to and most of them only target either kids or retarded teenagers and preteens. What ever happened to Cartoons for everybody? I spend less time watching television and more time watching web videos. It pains me to say this, but television is starting to become obsolete.

  • I know what you mean. My computer is my television now. I love youtube I'm on here almost everyday.

  • yay I know it because of the damn FCC,it just like what they did to Halloween, what is going on

  • When I used to get home from school, I used to each cartoons for hours!!! Now most new ones are horrible.

  • A few years ago before Kids WB turned into something owned by 4 kids I would always watch it on Saturday morings. And evually it was the only time you could watch kids WB. And it was great!

  • Great video. I try to explain to my two teenagers about the memories of Saturday morning cartoons. You had to be there. I agree 100%

  • Do you know what was a good TV show? The various Sonic TV shows. They where awesome. Although the anime "Sonic X" is pretty entertaining, cartoons have lost their touch.

    Completely agree with this rant!

  • the goverment sux! and them also didnt give me proper edgiecation!

lol just joking. i like saturday morning i get to watch tmnt fast forward and tom n jerry

  • What I dont get is thier were fat people WAY before cartoons came around. Why blame it on shows we enjoyed? Cartoons, music, damn near everything is dead these days. The magic is gone.

  • cuz people need something to blame so they dont have to take responsibilty

  • Whoever cancelled Zim is asking to be sued out of every single penny he has.

  • hahahah. this was great..

loved it! quite the expose. AND i watched it while eating a huge bowl of cereal=]

  • Haha awesome! That's the spirit =D

  • Yo you do a service to all of us who felt like a part of our childhood is being torn down or forgotten, you keep the flame alive that is Saturday morning, keep making these videos because there great. after all it good sometime to look back & remember what it was like growing back in the 90's. I love being a 90's Kid. Anyway great job.

  • i agree with you 100%. old cartoons didnt make kids fat, sugerhigh, or any other crap. they were fun enjoy meant that was just a big relief on sat. i do wish that invader zim was still on but sadly it isnt and avatar just rules. the cartoons today are the reason way kids are more fat, rude, and violet today more then ever. i just hope that cartoons will get better

  • this is so true. And not only are the cartoons geting lazy but so are the movies. I mean there just remakeing all the old 80s stuff. Transformers gijoe and all the marvel characters lol. Being original is out of style.

  • This decade completely forgot what good entertainment is. I miss cartoons and tv shows from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

  • I think there's something important you've failed to realize asawqe12.

What is the most important thing in life? It is to enjoy it.

You got a serious problem if your age get in the way of your enjoyment.

  • Funny you mention that, Im actually in the middle of learning Korean and planing on going to teach english in South Korea for a year. And I've been to Mexico on 4 separate occasions to build houses. So please don't judge me on what I'm like before you know me. Good day!

  • @TheCartoonFiend haha. you just owned that guy.

  • A good video, Saturday morning Cartoons were the best ones imo, but the best ones were aired between 8 am and 11 am so I usually didn't have to wake up that early.

Though I remember at some weekdays getting up at 6 am to watch the good cartoons even.

  • You are right on the spot and it make me fell a lite sad

  • def you best vid yet

    very awesome

and 1 dont think thier are many people on this rock who couldnt agree.

    sad but true.

But i really like alot of todays toons take batman the brave and bold for example that show is awesome.

    5 stars and a fav

  • thats why Talespin was canceled, not only because of low sales, but the content and how people think its a certain furthing

  • Yea i miss waking up early on saturday mornings for cartoons, but these days the saturday morning cartoons arent worth waking up early. My little brother used to wake up with me and when i stopped bc my sport required practicing in the morning he kind of stopped as well bc there really isnt anything really good on and u would hav more luck finding something good to watch on the internet

  • What has happened to cartoons is almost the same that has happened to wrestling, I guess you can only do so much before the creativity ends and you start geting water downed verisons of classics, or cheaply made "New Shows" that arn't made for the long run, but made to make a few cheaps bucks.

  • God i miss those time. Even though they were much later for me like 98-2000, i still miss them.

  • I'm 14 and i hate theses new cartoons i know i was not around in the golden days but still i like those shows much better than today

  • I agree. Most cartoons turned to shit. Especially pokemon. I watched the original so uch as a kid and decided to watch one when i was bored. It sucks and theirs like 1000 diferent versions. Government sucks.

  • What I don't like about pokemon is that Ash is still goddamn 10 years old. How much crap can happen to a 10 year old? And it's the same thing over and over. pokemon really suck.

  • Depend on what show you compare it with.

If you compare it to the majority of other cartoons from these days it doesn't.

I admit the fact he stay 10 year old and alot of thing happen again and again and again just with new names is BORING

It would have been so much better If Ash actually got older(but here's the problem, the appeal to the young ones would decress)

  • Maybe, I dunno, I think it would have been pretty cool to see Ash in his teens. But I guess it would lose it's sillyness... oh well.

  • @greatgmasta You mean he never GREW UP???

I've been out of the Pokemon loop since Pokemon left KIDS WB! =/

    lolll

  • I still wake up at 8 to watch Transformers Animated.

  • Great video. I definitely agree. Today's cartoons lack that energy and originality that the earlier ones had. The FCC's censorship has also led to today's cartoons being so watered down, that adult viewers can't get into them. Animaniacs and Batman, for instance, are probably even better today than when I was younger.

  • Exactly, I totally agree with you. When I was a kid I use to love waking up early to watch cartoons like the x men, eek the cat etc. There are a lot of Disney cartoons on weekends but they just dont cut it, cartoon quality has decreased.

I also agree with you on the Invader Zim, thats a crazy cartoon, I am surprised its not on adult swim.

  • It's such a shame that that time is dead. And it's daft how people continue to recycle old works to make new ones. They're usually crap remakes and they just spit on the old and popular ones.

  • You forgot the power rangers, never got wrong with the old school rangers. I agree with number 3 100%. today I watched the saturday line up on today and all the did was recycle old shows. The new transformers is good. But george of the jungle? back in the day he was stupid, now he's just plain retarded. Who the hell thinks this shit is funny? the best show this generation has is fairly odd paerents. Thats the onlt show I like.

  • Im reviving a classic saturday morning cartoon with my studio. Try to guess what it is from the videos I uploaded ;)

  • Do you remeber VR Troopers or Camp Candy?

  • The FCC are dumbass people.

    Great video
