hi an awesome aircraft if i must say and sad to see theres only a handful left in service around the world - now a question - do i see that the number 3 reverser failed to deploy?
Is this the plane I see sitting there everyday on my way home from work on I-35N that never moves? It looks like it. I've always wondered what the deal is with that plane, now I guess I know.
I flew on the L-1011 back in 80 from OLD KCI to (HLR) harlingen, TX ... What a beautiful aircraft. The only problem was the derregulation of the airlines. This caused major cuts to make profits. The airlines decided to make there own agenda on maintainance.... This baby had potential... but many people died in this aircraft due to that fact... very sad indeed ... just look up the the air crashes... easy to do
I thought it was a perfect landing for the scenario. Plant it and concentrate all efforts on getting it slowed down. A wonderful job and glad I was there to see it.
We (the AHM) have a gentleman who volunteered to raise funds for a paint job. Our priorities right now are funding the DC-3 and the Connie to fly as well as updating our museum. Should the day come for Elle to get a paint job and AA gives permission (TWA logo) she will look just like she did when she flew for TWA.

What a beautiful airplane... Remember quite well how amazing they did look in the old (early 90's) delta paint scheme.

Does anyone know whether or not this L1011 will be re-painted into one of the three 'TWA' paint schemes the L1011 wore?
