IMO, Dan was a bad father to both Lucas and Nathan. He never took care of one them and almost turned the other one into such a jerk... but Haley saved Nathan from it!
I agree that it was a good scene! We can see in Dan's face that he really does regret the horrible things he did and that he loves his sons... but that it's also too late now and that he can't take anything back....
This is heart touching scene. Yes, we know Dan has done some terrible things, but at least he can now admit it. Nathan is always going to love Dan more than Lucas, because even though Dan did bad things, he also did good things with Nathan and he was there to raise Nathan. He was a good and bad father to Nathan, but he wasn't one to Lucas. By blood, yes, but not by bond.
I havent watched this scene in years and it still makes me cry. Even though Dan was a horrible father it was sad to see how things might end up and much he regretted everything
@sanjor8r Well it wasn't like a Ha Ha a dog ate your heart, it was more like did that really happen, like who does that happen to, and then like omg this means that he'd going to die, and then for lucas its like how can i feel sad about this guy who never was a father figure to him and then killed his only other father figure
i love how lucas and nathan laughed about the dog eating the heart. It was just a ridiculous scene, so I'm glad that Lucas seemed to realize how ridiculous it was and didn't take it too seriously.
i get so annoyed when people say i dont like lucas now for not forgiving dan....HELLO!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!? fine so you would happily forgive the dad who abandoned you, who killed the uncle who raised you as if you was his son...dont feel sorry for dan what dan did was not an accident so forget this second chance stuff- he dosnt deserve that...poor keith not getting to see his daughter grow up or be lucas's adoptive father...so sad...that said its just a tv show! :D
Dan was more of a father figure to Nathan so I understood why he did feel sad....at one point in his life...Dan was a good father to him...it just didn't last too long....Lucas on the other hand has a huge hatred for Dan for not only being absent in his childhood but for killing Keith...who was kinda like a father to him.This was one of my favorite scenes of this episode(and there were not that many....)

I loved the way Nathan said "You're serious?" Its like he didn't really believe that Lucas was telling the truth.
