  • the 1996 season killed scott bryton and jeff krosnoff, and cause the Emmerson Fittipaldi retirement

  • what?! Fittipaldi in 1996?! in 50 years?!

  • @kubapista that´s correct!

  • he stopped racing after this accident. if the accident had not happened, he still racing for a few years.

  • This was the same day as Dale Earnhardt's bad Talladega crash and two weeks after the enormous Krosnoff melee at Toronto.

  • thanks god he hit back of the car..strongest part of the car..remember gordon smiley..

  • The culprit was Greg Moore, who played in the rear tire of Fittipaldi, when it had already made the decision to bow in the front of Moore.

  • Greg Moore RIP.

  • True, Emmo never raced again in CART, I recommend getting "Rapid Response" by Dr. Stephen Olvey, there is a good read about this crash.

  • @mazatleco17 I am reading through the book and it is good but I keep finding quite a few factual errors

  • I was at this race and I remember thinking at the time, that this looked bad........I was right!

  • greg moore...

  • Michigan when it was the most brutal punishing track to driver and machine on the schedule

  • Emmo never raced again in CART as this accident fractured his vertabrae if I remember correctly.

  • @waterfordjim a soft wall could avoid those fractures....nowadays.

  • WOW. I was at this race in the infield, and that wreck happened right in front of us..... that flash of fire was blinding! I remember running down to where the car came to a stop and it was a long run. :-)
