Lets face it, Chris Reeves will always be the best. And his suit worked very well for him. Theyre are doing some incredibly different stuff with the new superman costume for 2013's "Man of Steel". While I dont care for the actor, im very interested in the suit
The first movie I ever saw on video tape was superman the movie. Christopher Reeves is the only one who looked the part and any future attempts at casting for the character will have to look as close to Christopher Reeves as possible. Perhaps a little more muscle. I say "Give Henry Cavill a chance." I thought Brandon Routh was kinda Dull as Superman, but pulled off a great Clark Kent. Tom Welling would not play Supernan, because of some reason or another. I will, however, watch Man of Steel and see how Henry Cavill does in a new version of the classic character.

As for having brown eyes, it isn't that big of a deal. Having black hair and blue eyes is very uncommon. Otherwise, you need to find an actor with a lighter hair color and dye it black. Dean also has a better head of hair than Welling and it was combed right.

@snorunge1988 Tom Welling had to obligate a contract with WB to do Smallville, and he would've had to have broken that to have played Superman in returns, however sources and alot of fans are saying Welling's clenched a deal to play Superman when Smllville finishes in may....and coincidence is thats when the man of steel starts shooting and its in the same film studio and location as Smallville

Christopher Reeve wasn't the best Superman. He couldn't act. He played Clark much too silly, as did Brandon Routh in his own portrayal.
Dean Cain had the best look as Superman in the modern era. However, his Superman/Clark was too much a wimpy, 90s man metrosexual.
The best actor to don the red, gold & blue was George Reeves. He made Clark a fumbler, but not a buffoon. He had fun with his role. He played it seriously, as if Superman was a real person.

The theme music for Superman (written for the Christopher Reeve movies originally) was created by John Williams. He may have done the orchestrations, too. Google 'Superman theme music', and see what comes up. There may be a whole CD with music from those movies.

@Graham2271 I couldn't agree more, I don't know if you remember a episode from Smallville with Chris Reeve ( R.I.P ) and the producers said it really felt like a passing of the torch and even Chris Reeve's loved Tom Welling, you can just see the man of steel waiting to come out from Tom Wellings portrayal and plus, either way, the last of episode of smallville is when Tom's Clark WILL wear the suit.

Good news is Brandon Routh is NOT getting cast for "Superman The Man of Steel". Let's hope the new producer finally sees sense and utilises Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Michael Rosenbaum & the rest of the Smallville cast for the new film. It's what the majority of Superman fans want.

If the "majority of Superman fans" want to see the cast of Smallville.. then I suggest that this "majority" you speak of, waste their paychecks on the DVD set, sit on their fat asses and enjoy every Non-Superman episode of the whole 10 seasons. I, for one, don't wanna see "Smallville: The Movie" I wanna see "Superman: The Man of Steel" !! You know.. Superman.. faster than a speeding bullet, able to fly! Smallville has lasted nine season's which proves just how popular it is with Superman fans and Chris Reeve was happy to guest star in two episodes. Chris loved the show and even commented that Tom Welling was his "natural heir". So rather than being offended, I think he would have taken it as a compliment, but trying to get through to idiots like you who tell others to go

2) Reeve's comments were during an interview and were solely for the purpose of selling the show. While he may have been happy to do it, it was purely to sell the show. The Reeve's family said the same thing about Routh. 3) you can't speak for the majority of Superman fans. Smallville fans? Sure go ahead, but us Superman fans think Tom Welling needs to stay on TV.

I agree that George Reeves was the best "acting" Superman there ever was, and Christopher Reeve and his acting ability are extremely overrated. He's just not a great actor, and when you put him next to such a talent as Gene Hackman it becomes even more glaringly obvious.

Christopher Reeve wasn't the best Superman. He couldn't act. He played Clark much too silly, as did Brandon Routh in his own portrayal.
Dean Cain had the best look as Superman in the modern era. However, his Superman/Clark was too much a wimpy, 90s man metrosexual.
The best actor to don the red, gold & blue was George Reeves. He made Clark a fumbler, but not a buffoon. He had fun with his role. He played it seriously, as if Superman was a real person.
Reeves is the best.

What made Reeve a bad actor is just that, he was a bad actor.
The only time I ever saw him do well in a role is when he starred in an adaptation of the Great Escape (Don't know the title). Other than that, he was not any good.

The theme music for Superman (written for the Christopher Reeve movies originally) was created by John Williams. He may have done the orchestrations, too. Google 'Superman theme music', and see what comes up. There may be a whole CD with music from those movies.
