It's crystal clear that Elvis bad health and early death has to do with a genetic disorder called Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. Dr. Nichopoulos tried to help him to as much as he could and managed to bring some order in his taking medications. But there is no cure for the genetic deficiency - people who have it die early, just as Elvis and his mother did.
I can't see why George sticks up for Dr.Nick, everyone has seen the physical decline of Elvis's health in the last 6 years of his life, to say this was caused by heart problems or a colon infection is an insult to the viewer's intelligence. Dr.Nick then flatters himself to say he was a father figure and a minister to him, ..try the word 'handler'. I wonder how these people sleep at night..

I have mixed feelings for this man, on one hand maybe he did try to help Elvis the best he could but on the other he helped him become addicted even more to the pain medication. I always knew Elvis did not die from an overdose, there are those who claim he had a addiction but he did not die from it, he died from what I always knew, a ailment that was genetic, its about time the world was told this, I get sick of hearing people who don't know claim he died from a overdose.
