Ah....remember when popular musicians could play instruments and write their own songs?.........i saw a great bumper sticker a few years ago that said:
"I may be old, but your music sucks." Just about says it all.
Such old technology for recording quality BUT.... If you lived WINGS in the 70's AND you have that LP... its wonderful. BRILLIANCE! Debra-blues, Canada.
@inkey2 Ozzy met Paul for the 1st time when they were both on the Howard Stern Show. Ozzy was thrilled to speak to Paul and told him that he was the reason he became a muscian. Very sweet! I love Paul and Howard and Ozzy.
I love the way paul plays bass....ill bet alot of bass players would have over played like crazy on this given a free hand at it. His restraint shows great wisdom
red rose speedway with its understated less, "in your face" production is a cool album. my only complaint with BOTR is that the production and A FEW songs are a bit, MOR. ... whereas red rose is a down home and downright funky, ("loop, first indian on the moon,") album. perfect for smoking joints to, IF i smoked, and i don't. cheers.
I believe it's time for a Wings Anthology project, including a dvd-issue of Rockshow and a Redrose Speedway that includes Night Out, Tragedy, Jazz Street and the other outtakes.
As a college student in Nashville in '73, I watched this tv special in my dorm room. The next summer I met Paul and Linda at Sound Shop recording studio (Where they recorded "Junior's Farm", which I listened to them record for seveal hours one night, with my ear against the outside of the studio wall). They were so friendly and cool. Actually had a few conversations with both coming and going from the studio. They were great with us fans. One of the highlights of my life....
Icmoorejr-Wow! What a wonderful memory to have! Junior's Farm is pretty much my favorite of Wings (well, among many, but for awhile at our fav bar we would sing it quite loud). My greatest memory of Paul is paying way too much to see him in '03 but guess what-WE WERE SO CLOSE AND IT WAS SO GOOD I WOULD DO IT AGAIN! But yeah this song is great too and you are a very lucky person!!!
Please, whoever states McCartney was uncool in the 70s doesn't know what there talking about. His solo stuff today still stands the test of time. Besides, it's better then the garbage I hear today. The guys a genius.
How come nobody commented on this one before?? It´s such a great song, a great version; great energy from everyone in the band! Thanks citycity49! Awesome stuff!!

great video, unsung hero of mine especially with the Wings!
Great rare video, when is Jim going to put this on DVD for all his fans?
We don't care that its awful crap video from the seventies that he'd probably be better off forgetting about forever! WE WANT MORE
Kudos to you citycity49 for making this available.

If you listen to the end of Ram On (reprise) near the end of the Ram release, they start playing a few verses of this...

as Ozzie Ozborn once said.....paul mccartney could take any song written today, "piss on it" and make it sound infinately better

good point, inkey2. He always plays the right choice of notes on bass. And when he wants to get fancy, it's never over the top.

I love listening to Wings music live. Always thought his material sounded better live from this era. Great tune.

It's the better classic-rock song that I ever heard in my life!!! There's no modern musician who could compares with McCartney!!!

I like the witty comments each member made on their profile. Especially the McCartneys.

@sparkyandmaggie yeah, thats idiotic......macca was at his height of cool in the 70s

I don't care if it was the 70s or whenever, whoever said that Paul McCartney was uncool was and is out of thier minds!
Paul McCartney rocks!!
thumbsaloft 3 years ago 9
Yeah, this is a totally overlooked rocker! yet another great song that McCartney should be performing right now!
thumbsaloft 3 years ago
Yes. I am going over the Macca catalogue '70-'76 and it is just unrelenting brilliance.
Why were we all so down on him back then?
1) Because its not the Beatles.
2) He was so damn uncool! (Even by 70's standards!).
But hey, the music is sensational.
garethb1961 3 years ago
how is paul mccartney uncool? :S he's amazing.

Luckily, I think Paul & Wings have gotten cooler by 2009 standards (IMO). LOL. I really love this music and all the retro fashions!
