  • This was done in Summer 1978. Per Ray Bohr's story to me, it was done to showcase the orchestra, but especially the organ.

  • I wish they still did musical programs like this at Radio City. Even in the 70's, this type of programming was rare. I remember going to the Music Hall throughout the 60's when I was a kid and I remember classical music, opera and ballet regularly performed as part of the great stage show. I think by the late 70's, Radio City no longer had its original movie-stage show format.

  • @bigcity233 ... I had to look at your comment twice. It seems EXACTLY like something I would have written as this has been my experience, too. After leaving the service toward the end of 1971, the first thing I did after returning home was to visit Radio City ... And like a kid who's never been in a candy store, I actually sat through three straight showings of the movie/show combination featured at that time. And coincidentally, I saw their 50th anniversary show ("Encore") 3 times, as well.

  • @bigcity233 ... I just wanted to add one more thing that I'm sure you already know: There's no such thing as "getting enough" of Radio City Music Hall, "the showplace of the nation." Thanks for your comment and I hope I run into you there some time.
