Recently the two met in a festival and agreed to begin working on a third album during this summer...

First of all Blind Guardian & Iced earth are two of my three favorite bands of all time (the other being Iron Maiden) but to say that Demons & Wizards tops Iced Earth when they have maybe 3 or 4 songs that are above plausable between both albums is a overstatement by a long shot. Demons & Wizards is amazing and i love them but i place both Iced Earth & Blind Guardian far above their side project. (when I say Iced Earth i mean with Matt Barlow with The Ripper to me it's just another band)

One of the biggest reasons that I love Demons and Wizards, is that without them, I never would have heard of Blind Guardian or Iced Earth, thus I never would have found out about all the great underground power metal/symphonic metal/ progressive metal out there.

It's hard to say what I look more forward to. I liked the idea of A Night At The Opera. It's so different from what they usually play. Blind Guardian is a surprisingly beautiful and original band, but Hansi has shown that exact same magic in D&W, too.

Oh yeah, I was thinking about The Wizard a while back and decided to listen to the original. Then I saw the album cover and let out a nice grin.

I wouldn't have said A Night at the Opera was dramatically different from anything else they'd done. If you think about it, their albums had been getting more and more symphonic and theatrical from Tales From The Twilight World. ANatO was the apex of that progression. Blind Guardian just do everything right, IMO.

Pretty much everything Hansi touches turns to genius. In fact, I rate D&W far higher than anything Iced Earth have done.

I agree, it makes living here a bit depressing. That said it actually preserves how special the metal community is at least. The bigger threat is ultra-commercial things that people begin to consider metal, like hardcore/deathcore.
