Hey guys I appreciate all the comments good and bad. My name is Alan Pastrana and I am the author of this piece. I just want to say first and foremost I do not consider myself a Graffiti artist or bomber but I have much respect for the art form. I'm originally from Queens NY, self taught artist who is a product of his own environment so it's only natural to paint what I grew up with. Hip Hop and all it's elements were a big influence on me, especially Graff.
i aint taking anything away from this guy he is very good with an airbrush but to me this is not graffiti, i am a graffiti writer who also use's an airbrush too, i look at this and can blatantly tell it is an artist replicating real graffiti, i dont believe in stencils either anything and everything can be done by free hand, but hey nice work never the less.
@TheBrainfood The only reason that Kaws is so successful is because he DID use spray paint. You may want to go deeper into the google results before you start posting your remarks.
i think it still takes skills 2use stencils bt really dnt like wen "artist" have 2 use dem lik tat2 artist draw dere design 1st den make it in2 a stencil n did idk y bt i prefer ppl dat dnt need 1
I agree the art style can be used for logos like the Knicks and others. It can bit to promote products like Sprite and others. It can also be commercially sold in galleries. But once this done itis no longer "graff". Graffiti is meant to be a political statement mixed with desire to be underground famous. Learn the culture and why we did it in the late 70's early 80's.
closed minded fuck.obviously ur mind is incapable of comprehending the notion of expanding. just because graffiti began with walls and cans, doesnt mean it cant expand beyond those boundaries. if it was up to u i guess there wouldnt be cars or airplanes because transportation is meant to be done as it orignally was, by walkin everywhere. because expanding doesnt make sense right. ur an idiot.
Calm your ass down. This has nothing to do with progress (if you want to talk about artistic progress, this guys letter style is old and generic). If its not illegal its not graffiti. This guy (and you) are incredibly good with an airbrush , but when you paint in a graffiti style you are just raping someone else's culture. You're so open minded your fucking brain is falling out.
i strongly disagree with the opinion that if its not illegal its not graffiti. as time has progressed, graffiti has advanced its boundaries. it began with exclusively cans and walls but now includes so much more. walls and cans is one type, airbrush and t shirt/canvas is another, markers and black book is another. graffiti isnt defined by the mediums or surface used but rather the freedom of being able to "draw" without any specific rules. walls or canvas, graff is graff.
@hawksairbrush Graffiti is permament paint or damage on wall. That's how law says, that's how someone with more knowledge from this subject says, and that's how it fucking is.
@FudoOne Graffiti is art. If it isnt gang related and ignorant. Just like any art is. The law says graffiti is a perm. paint or damage on a wall? Thats why people ask property owners if its ok and if they say no then it becomes illigal if they decide to Tag up the wall.
