Driver2 was good, you could get out of your car to steal other cars, but couldn't shoot.

With parallel lines, they just made a GTA ripoff.

To all those complaining about the shift, stop whining, if you want to roam the city and shoot ppl, go play gta.

The Shift idea looks good, but has the potential to make the game 'easy', especially when you lose sight of your target. I don't mind if they limit the action to the car, that is what helped make Driver great, along with the missions. As long as it doesn't suck like Driv3r.

Why is everyone complaining about the shift ability so much, why can nobody stand to see something original? If you want to get out of your car why not just go play GTA? This is primarily a DRIVING game and they have decided to focus on driving which is good. Also, the shift ability is completely original and something that's never been done before, which will make this an original and unique game. I for one think it will be interesting, changing into any car you see anywhere in the city.

Looks somewhat arcady, the world looks pretty big though, too bad you can't get out of the car. And shifting ability.. What is this damn crap? This is not Driver. I have played all Driver games on PC and I know in the first 2 Drivers you could not get out of your car and that's where Driver has it's roots, but cmon. Games evolve, being stuck in your car might have been cool then, but that kind of gaming was still pretty young back then and is old now. They could have done so much more with this.

(Correct me if I'm wrong) But shift isin't going to be in the entire game if I'm correct, this is taking place in his Coma, Maybe they're presenting the Shift ability in the begining of Single Player, Because it's going to be in Multiplayer, and when Tanner revives from his Coma, You can't use shift anymore. (If the entire game isin't in his Coma, Which I hope it's not) II just hope they don't screw up with this shift and don't ruin the story of Tanner, The shift is a retarded idea.

And I noticed the horrible way the one car simply bounced off another with not a scratch. It seems like its going to be one of those licensed car games with terrible collision physics and damage. Which is a shame, because I thoroughly enjoyed all Driver games.

1. Shift? Sucks...interesting idea for sure but for driver it just doesn't fit. So it means a normal citizin in its car is suddenly going mad and chasing jericho or are the people becoming Tanner like in the Matrix movies? Stupid!

2. From my POV I can see that only luxury cars are driving on the road and at all they don't really fit into the san francisco setting. Where are all of the sedans and family cars? I mean RUF and Alfas and Porsches? C'mon. Show us something real Driver-like!!

@BruceTMorrison I do, It's a great thing to introduce, just like in Parralel Lines iwth the two timelines.....Driver is underrated, it actually revolutionised gaming quite a bit.

Driver 1 was the first Fully 3D free roam game before GTA 3 came about.

Driver 2 also allowed you to get out your car and explore a free roam 3D enivroment , before GTA 3

Driver 3....was naff' You win there, but its drivingphysics and film director mode kept me hooked

Everything about this is just one big face palm. Driver has never been more unrealistic. The cops in this game are suicidal, the cars obviously have rockets attached to them and Tanner is now God with supernatural abilities. Yes, that's the classic old school gritty 1970's Driver game I was waiting for.
