  • Thats impressive that you fit a Husaberg engine into a RS frame and tuned it all into one clean package.

    If you still are running this check out the coils from Black Ops Moto dot com . Such a simple item has been over looked in bike tuning to this point.Is that head a custom one off item or are they sold for Husabergs? I cant seem to find any more vids of your finished bike. Id love to see it.

  • @64BuzzKillington Thanks! Currently I'm using a very strong/oversized coil, but the coil-on-plug design is interesting. I run the ignition mapping with the Megasquirt EFI. I can make more heads if anyone is interested, but as every part is one-off, it is not cheap. I'm upgrading to the 2009-model fairings for this season.

    So have you raced it yet?

    Did you use a MAP sensor, or just the standard u-squirt tps to MAP hack?

    I eventually wrote my own code to get a tip-over switch and quick-shift inputs.

  • @GrahamB29 Thanks, Graham! The 2011-season was lost due to all kinds of technical problems. Solved one after the other and now I feel like I dare to show up at the tracks again. I use the TPS that came with the Ducati 1098 throttle body, not the MAP sensor for "load-sensing". I believe there is support for quick-shift and launch-control in the software already. But a tip-over functionality would be handy. Good job to write you own code for it! Impressive!

    So are you using the MSExtra software? I don't think the standard B&G code has those features. BTW, a friend with an RS250 pointed out they have no cush-drive in the hub... any probalems with that? Does the Husaberg have a cush in the clutch?

    Sorry to hear about the tech problems, but if it takes Toyota 5 years to take a car to production, one season of bug-finding seems fair :)

  • @GrahamB29 Yes, I'm using the MSIIExtra. Husaberg has no built n cush drive and neither does the RS250. I manufactured a new hub for the RS250 with a cush drive just to ease the life of the gearbox and chain. // Bearing in mind the Toyota development department is somewhat larger, I guess it's OK! ;-)

  • Hello, AnoukAD1980! Honda RS250 from 97-00 (or something) had the chain on the right side. No need to flip anything.

    Tell me, how did you get to machine the water passages in that head?

  • @krislyttle: Thank you! We made two small "lids" on the left and right of the cylinder head. Between them there are two holes drilled on each side of the spark plug. There is also a water channel between the exhaust ports. This arrangement may seem not to provide enough cooling effect, but it worked just fine on my previous SOHC billet cylinder head.

  • @Massegossen Wow! That was quick, thanks.

    I'm also considering a billet DOHC 4 valves/cyl. head for a Tohatsu 4-stroke inline-triple. Just to give you some idea of what I'm planning, I need the intake port between the camshafts, with 2 spark-plugs on either side of that port, along with direct fuel-injection with each injector located between each intake valve pair. I suspect the water passages might be tricky with all that stuff in each combustion chamber, though.

  • @Massegossen I think yes, with 5 valve, 3 intake valve. But project is "secret", I didnt see it. Not some photos too... But firma Ahra i s modern specialized workroom, owner is Karel Rathousky, her father and he designed and built some race bike "AHRA" in 50 cc and 125, started too in Czech GP. Father Rathousky built too 350 2T 3 cylinder engine how DKW, constructive potential witk Kamenicky team I think is sufficient to do it.

  • Good news is, if you know, Kamenicky built new engine with firma Ahra.cz, with special head with 3 camshafts :) , maybe with 100 HP...

  • Supermono - it was class for not so solvent riders, but today is better drive 600 supersport, run good and any engine problems... how stressed supermono engine, but in Czech is cca 40 supermonos in this year, but I think only Mali is very well.

  • @Massegossen Here in Czech republic is now very popular "Road Racing" (today was Michal "indi" Dokoupil 13. in Macao!, he is newcommer). Supermono races are only in Roadracing, any moto or autodroms races for supermono...

    Very nice track is 30 km near Ostrava too, Terlicky okruh (Terlicky circuit).

  • Look here, it´s motorbike in Horice, Czech republic, bike is I think best Czech supermono - Jawa Mali from Libor Kamenicky (driver+designer).

  • It was below zero this morning, so "driving" might take a while. I will disassemble the cylinder head now to make sure everything is working OK. Then it will come together with a special piston and then off to the dyno.
