  • That was wonderful. You gave a good narration as well and that was a perfect fix which not only fixed my WMP but also my gadgets......thanks a lot!!!!!!

  • support .microsoft. com / mats / windows_media_player_diagnostic / pt-br (remove the spaces), i now its portugues but this might help this workd for me

  • For who doesn't worked, install "mats_Run.WinMediaPlayer.exe" and it would work :)

  • its works fine thanks

  • well thx thats a good job but i did the 2 step still it doesnt work what can i do now do u hv any idea else thx...

  • tnx its work but you must RUN AS ADMISTRATOR!!!!

  • i entered regsvr32 jscript.dll and it succeeded just like the video, and because you said the problem is fixed at that point i tried to play a video file in wmv. i wanted to make sure it worked before going through the rest of the steps which you said just keep this command entered after a restart. when i tried to play a wmv file however i still got the error. do i need to complete all the steps even if i haven't restarted? thanks.

  • @mcmx88 Well, Follow thru all of the video is what i would recommend and then restart. I can not Guarantee that this will fix everyone's problem because there are a few reasons for this error to occur.

Go thru the video, restart your computer and make sure the script runs before you open Windows Media Player.

Then give it a go and see if it then works.

If not just inbox me or comment below and we'll see if there is anything else you could try to fix it.

  • @muhammadlilg

thanks for replying...here is a more rational explanation, i used your fix...now i can open media player BUT if i try to open a file and media player isnt open i get the server execution failed message.....if i open media player first then open the file it works fine

  • @dane123ization There are many other solutions out there. but tbh the purpose for this video was to fix the error you've just explained. If its unable to fix the problem. Try updating windows, if that doesn't work try the methods in the next comment:

  • @muhammadlilg Method 2.

    1. Click on Start and in the search bar type cmd.exe

    2. Right click on cmd.exe and click on Run as Administrator

    3. In the command prompt type the following command net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add

     4. Press enter and restart the computer

Method 3 in the next comment....

  • @muhammadlilg Method 3.

    2. Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".

    3. Browse to the Media Features and uncheck the mark in front of Windows Media Player.

    4. Restart the computer

Step 2 in the next comment...

  • @muhammadlilg

    Step 2.

    Reinstalling the Windows Media Player:

  • Had the same issue - it sounds silly - but all I did was go into Program Files\Windows Media Player and ran WMPlayer.exe as administrator.

Next time, it started working magically. Feels like running as administrator does some online validation (perhaps an anti-piracy?) check - after that - things just work naturally!!!

Try it out - sometimes - the simplest solutions are the right ones :)

  • my one still doesnt work! I just downloaded paranormal activity 3 and transformers 3 and I REAALLLLY want to watch them! but instead I get a stupid error!

  • @JDOG13596 Use VLC player. GO on Google type "download vlc player"

Its a really good video player because it supports many video formats.

    e.g. .wmv .mkv etc...

I hope it helps and about the problem not fixing well, make sure you run it as an administrator.

If the problem is still not fixed then comment here again ill get back to you asap

    [MAk Productions]

  • @muhammadlilg Sorry, I already have VLC, and I strongly agree with you, IT RULES OVER EVERYTHING!

But yeah...I have no ideas now on what caused this to happen, i do not want to download any more software that installs stuff to make it 'work' however it does not. Thanks anyway!

  • @muhammadlilg If you do manage to help me get them working then i can upload them to my website for everyone to watch (I convert the movie to a .FLV and then use JWPLAYER, its very simple JavaScript)

  • @JDOG13596 What format are the movies ?

    Muhammad Ali

    [MAk Productions]

  • @muhammadlilg The file was just a plain file with no extension, so I tried AVI, it opens in VLC but does nothing, BUT it doesnt return an error

  • @muhammadlilg the file didnt come in any file format, so i changed to an AVI and played it in VLC. However, i can tell it is a movie because of the size of the file

  • still doesnt work

  • theink for show me

  • Dude you're a genius, just got this stupid error today for no apparent reason and found your video via google.

    Thanks for this

  • thanks a ton....this thing was really bugging me

but now when everytime i restart my PC, the cmd screen appears with the dialog "jscript.dll succeeded"

i dont want to see that evertime i restart...Help!

  • @rubbaan1 That is the only way of fixing the problem. Is to register it when ever the computer starts. otherwise you would have to do it manually

    [MAk Productions]

  • @rubbaan1 if you don't want the message add the /s switch in your autoexec like this: regsvr32 /s jscript.dll

  • my laptop even can't open the command Prompt *cries* what should I do? ;A;
