@wwefuture01 talking out of your ass. Mario galaxy 1 and 2 had plenty of exploration. Even too much so. That was a random "back in my days" comment with absolutely no truth to back it.
The only thing i didn't like about N64 was the controller stick, it was too weak to handle all the rotations when fighting Bowser because after a few months the stick broke and was hard to move around and had to buy a new one.
@DrNo0Entertainment1 Goldeneye and DK64 are two of my favorites because Rare threw in plenty of power ups and didn't leave it so open that you have to spend hours beating one level. Let me constantly be stimulated and excited with new material/action.
@Luigi84289 Is that why no one remembers the flash in the pan Crash Bandicoot and why Crash ripped off the Mario games and even their spinoffs. It goes without saying Mario 64 was better than Crash in every way.
@StephenAlexWalker Mario 64 is a completely different type of game. Sony decided to stop using crash as it's mascot during the playstations peak (you probably were too young to remember or unborn) that series pushed the PSX along with a slew of other fantastic titles like the Lost World Jurassic Park to dominate the market. People want fast paced linear action with obstacles power ups and secrets galore. Walmart sold the PSX at a 3 to 1 ratio to the N64.
@Luigi84289 Mario 64 is remembered because it single handedly changed the games industry it proved 3D could be done and done to the highest possible standards. I seem to remember it being Resident Evil and Tomb Raider which really sold the PS1, Sony made the smart (at the time) decision to aim the console at the older market and they advertised the console like crazy whereas I remember seeing a grand total of 1 N64 advert (for Perfect Dark). PS1 sold way more but N64 had the far superior games.
@StephenAlexWalker But see it didn't bring anything new to the market. Game favoritism is all opinion. Sony was the first company to mass market 3d based games for a home console. The PSX was released in 1995. In the early years they were very strict about only releasing 3d based games. Capcom to get the Megaman games released for it had to compromise and add new elements of gameplay to get MM8 and X4 released.
@StephenAlexWalker With the N64 due to it's polygon engine all the games had a very blocky look and memory limitations meant most of the games consisted of long expanses of collecting items. As I stated I love Goldeneye and Donkey Kong 64 as well as Starfox and the Zelda OOT but those are the only games that really ventured outside the hunt and find game mechanic most of them utilized. My buddy ended up only buying racing games for it because most of the mainstream games ended up being boring.

@StephenAlexWalker All of my friends in the neighborhood owned a crash title either the first or second if they had a PSX back in it's heyday. Sony wasn't as self restricting as Nintendo. There were games for everyone and the parents didn't have to worry because of the rating system. The PSX's ability to play video and have multiple disk games also was a big selling point. FF7 couldn't have been released on the 64. The only edge technically that nintendo had was it's graphics engine.
@Luigi84289 Nintendo to be technically the best console to make the best games I mean look at the N64 library: Mario 64, Zelda Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask, Perfect Dark & Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie & Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Starfox 64, Mario Kart 64 and plenty more beside the 64 was pure fun. I have a PS1 and it has great games especially Gran Turismo, Resi Evil and Silent Hill but games like Tomb Raider were terrible and FF7 is the most overrated game ever random battles suck
@StephenAlexWalker The only reason people recognize mario 64 today is because he is still nintendo's leading man. C'mon admit it even if you love the game you can't do it all in one sitting.
Mario 64 is the first game to controll camera angles and the first game thats not a side scroller and is the first mario game where the characters are actually 3D polygons and not sprites
@2000mudkip I played crash bandicoot 1,2, 3 & bash. It was a good game, but can 't compare with mario series. Super Mario Bros was the first & best plataform game, and nowadays 25 years later Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the best plataform game

Super Mario 64 stands tall above Crash. I'll give em credit for CTR though; That was pretty fun.
