Read "The Driver" it's Alex Roy's story of rallying and his transcontinental run. He did it in 31:04, faster than anyone else. The best part? He did it before this interview and Spinelli was there in L.A. to verify it. Hence the hushed snickering while talking about the record.
The problem is not how to prove you did it, the problem is the other traffic on the road.
People will see you approaching at a high rate of speed and pull in front of you. Then laugh, if they don't die. Keep your racing on the track like I do. A record is not worth killing someone else.
Haha, so if I remember correctly Spinelli was in on the The Drives. It's great to watch this again and think about what was going through their heads, NDA FTW
so u could get more than 3 cameras to do this i say 6 1 front and back 1 on each person 1 on the clock/speedo and 1 on a brake for laugh's to power these u would need a inverter lighter than batties they produce 240 volts easy and say a 1000gb hard drive to record on to easy fix and about the cam's being in sinc every car u go past u will see there in sinc
Thats my thoughts I have a feeling beating the record is possible but no one wants to say it's possible cause them someone would try it. Roy's technologies to validate makes it nearly impossilbe to do it.
My GPS unit Garmin c330 recorded my 24hour drive route from Vail, CO to Rochester, NY
1 hour footage=13 GB... so if you have a 500 GB DV hard drive attached to your camera it is possible to get one continuous shot. It's still risky, though.
Plus my verizon phone can give me directions across the country. If you hae enough power in the car it is possible.
Not a supporter of Bad driving I found it funny how Alex Roy talking about Rob 'Lonman' Kenworthy's crazy driving and how no one drives to stay with Rob on the Rally but is the past Gumballs Alex has been trying to be the first to the checkpoints like Rob use to pride himself on
Good interview and excellent points on the topic of tracking. Ya even though its a race you should still be concern for others on the road. Man I wish I have the money and a cool car I would so participate...

Some guys drove from coast to coast here in Australia in 32 hours. I wonder if anyone is daring to beat THAT record.

Great interview! Alex Roy certainly has a good head on his shoulders. he seems like a good representative for the rally community.
