The "Different Drummer" Image is very familiar to me from early childhood(the 70s). I had a poster of it hanging on my bedroom wall for years in grade school. I think Singer gave them out(I got it from my uncle who worked for them). The other side had smiling lips inside a circle with radiating black lines and white lines all around. Thanks for the video.
Yes, this same poster image was given out in schools as a book cover and one side had The Different Drummer poster, and the flip side had his smiling lips poster image. I also still have mine framed along with other various versions of this. The square images you see in the video are actually silk scarves which I had stretched and then framed to protect them.
You obviously are not familiar with Randy Newman's work and are basing this comment upon listening to this one song. Try some of Newmans motion picture soundtracks, such as Avalon, Awakenings, The Paper, Monsters, The Natural, etc. Randy doesn't bill himself as a great vocalist, but I would say that his music and composition are no less than genius. Why don't you do your homework before you make such comments? I have listened to just about everything Randy Newman has created, musically.
In a word, "No." You see, that's the freedom of expression... I can use whatever music I like! And, you think Randy Newman's music isn't appropriate? I think it's just fine! After all, "smiling" is one of Peter Max's trademarks, and that's what the song is about.

The song is "I Love To See You Smile" by Randy Newman. It was featured in a few movies such as Parenthood, Milk Money, and possibly a few others.
