One of history's great uber-assholes and a real head case. Anyone old enough to remember his weepy meltdowns on Carson? What a dick! But - it turned out - not a bad shot.
Marines prostitute one another like Rooster pimped his whores on the 1970-era T.V. show "Baretta." The uxoricidal maniac actor Robert Blake played undercover cop Tony Baretta.
My God I have been searching for Baretta for ages. When I was a kid this was on really really late at night and my dad would let me stay up and watch it.
Every night there was a different cop show on, over here in England and there was a cop show from Australia called BONEY, does anyone remember BONEY ? Is it on Youtube ? Also is this guy who played Baretta still alive ?
Thanks for sharing and bringing back some very happy memories.
I will and always have loved Robert Blake... did anyone else see the beginning of the end when he went on the Tom Snyder Show clear back in the late 8o's or early 90's sometime publicly asking for a date throughout the entire thing? I was sure a gold digger would respond...
My favorite show during the best years of my life. I was 10 and 11. I associate those years with such joys as being able to sleep in because it snowed so much school was canceled. I'd spend the day sleigh riding and get an extra day or two added to my weekend. I'd watch Baretta every Friday night. On Saturday I'd go to my cousin's house for a sleep over. We'd watch Monty Python's Flying Circus each Saturday night on public TV and then spend Sunday skating at a roller rink. NE Pennsylvania 1976.
@androusmore the 70's were peaceful?? i know what you mean, but in reality is it just because we were kids? because i think in fact theres was been a war and violence going nonstop since the 30's. but we don't notice until we get older. love this show though, watched it with my dad along with swat, rockford files and dirt sally
Loved this show back in the old days...once I encountered Tom Ewell standing behind me in line at the L.A. County Fair in Pomona. Today I teach Traffic Violator School, and in the classes I tell students that if they're not sure about whether to execute a U-turn under any given circumstances, they should follow the dictum of Davis/Baretta--Don't Do It!
Oh how,I just love this show and the Man in it ! Robert Blake is number one in my Heart and,I never believed for one second that he had anything to do with that crime he was accused of.
I was just searching for an episode of the series in here - I wish someone would post some of them, divided into two 10 min parts.... I think it had been a 30 min show, but yea, that would work. :)
Blake never did follow the advise of that song....

Don't go to bed, with no price on your head - No, no, don't do it.
Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time - Yeah, don't do it.
And keep your eye on the sparrow.
When the going gets narrow.
Don't do it, don't do it.
Where can I go where the cold winds don't blow,
Now. Well, well, well.
