Great video. Perhaps you can answer this for me. Can the Hero2 be fully operated (record, take pictures) while plugged into AC power source? Or does it charge only?

Can I power the HD HERO camera through an external power source?

•Yes, when you have the HD HERO camera connected via the USB cable to a USB power adapter (not the computer), you will be able to simultaneously record video or pictures and charge the battery. We will also be releasing a skeleton housing for the HD HERO camera to allow access to the camera’s USB and AV ports while mounted.

@TheScooter123321 Unfortunately that is something that you will have to decide. Your budget is one thing.  Otherwise take a look at the differences and how you are going to use it. Also take a look at the output. Where you’re going to publish your vids. If it is just on YouTube you might get away with the one. But if you need some of the features the Hero2 offers…go with it. Sorry for the answer but it is really up to you, your needs and your budget.

Hey great video. The only thing I want to mention is unlike the hero1 to turn the hero2 on quickly press and release the front button. If you press and hold you will hear an extra beep, this is because you have turned the camera on and also jumped to the next mode in the menu. It took me a week to figure out why my camera was not coming on in video mode.

@jaibus Not sure if you mean the “plug” or the male mount for the camera. For the plug…try foamez.com (U.S.) (look up FCS X-2 Charcoal Plug ) or for the male end you can buy the expansion kit at gopro for $20. Not sure…but they may sell the plug on its own if you call them. Rusty

@vegemiteontoastbrah Dont use the surf mount for your bodyboard, your much better off using the 'Single Pin Bodyboard Mount', made by a company called Sportscamera.
