  • This song is very sweet when taken out of the context of the show. Henshall and Barrowman make a fantastic pair.

  • OOH When Ruthie sings 'Hell' I get shivers!!! Is it just me or does Ruthie sound like Alice Ripley here? Gotta love these two brits! (John is Scottish) They NEEEEEEEEED to do like everything together! They are soooooo perfect vocally! And Ruthie.... omg.... she has such a fantastic and distinct voice! I love these guys soooooooo much :) x

  • so amazing and beautiful <3 ... och my, i love it <3

  • Beautiful voices!!!!!! Excellent song!!!!!

  • Thumbs Up!

    Wonderful performances!

  • Ruthie at 1:29 on is brilliant

  • Wow! Even taken out of context the song is still has that great creepy stalker vibe. It's one of my favorite Sondheim numbers in the original just because of how twisted and fucked up it is.

  • That was so pretty!

The only criticism I have is the way they say "darling" over and over in place of the names. It sounds kind of awkward, especially when you know how the song really goes. Or at least, it does to me.

But I thin, Ruthie and John are great together. Their voices work so well combined.

  • love the harmony at at 2:25 it is beautiful

  • Dear Mr. John Barrowman.

    Dearest John

The note that you sing in 0:14 is the most beautiful sound I've ever heard in the world. "you aaaare (wind and water and sky)".

    XXX

  • i LOVE this revue i watch it all the time

  • They do both have beautiful voices, and they certainly do the song justice, but it's funny that it's staged to look as if they're singing to one another. In the play they're John HInkley and Squeaky Frome singing to Jodie Foster and Charles Manson respectively. Only Sondheim--the man that brought us Sweeny Todd--could so brilliantly marry romance with psychosis :-)

  • This is not from Assassins though. This is from the revue: Putting it Together. So the song is taken out of context intentionally.

  • It's because Putting it Together uses Sondheim to create an own story, so this suddenly becomes a slightly strange lovesong rather than beautiful and creepy as it was in Assassins :)

  • Ruthie and John are absolutely AMAZING singers...and them singing together...WOOOW.

  • You can't get any better than this. What a beautiful, romantic and heart-felt rendition of a wonderful song. *Wipes tears*

  • I know - it makes me cry just to think of it!!! Must be hormonal!!

I have completely fallen for John aswell - don't care what anyone says about me!!

Ruthie looks STUNNING here too - their chemistry is magnificent. I could honestly gush about them all day!

    I love from 2:27 *sob*

    Completely gorgeous!

  • I agree... it''s gorgeous.

  • One of the best things on youtube.
