All of a sudden its 1925 again. Without the B&W scratched up jerky film and no sound. Now we have fuzzy pictures and slow downloads. Nonetheless, this is still a lot of fun and true to the period.
@nerdinthebasement@nerdinthebasement It'll be the second Sunday of September. There's been a rumor that last year was the last year it'd be held, but The Gatsby Summer Afternoon lives on! You can find more information on this event as well as others hosted by the Art Deco Society of California at their homepage: artdecosociety . org
The best thing with this couple, is that they use the authentic 1920's ground step, in a way that makes it look as though they are magically floating along the floor. I just love their style. They bring elegance back into the Charleston.
De todos los videos de Charleston que vi, creo que este es uno de los cinco mejores. Y de los cinco el primero. Realmente están en la época, no sólo en la vestimenta, sino en los pasos. Mesurados, no como los que bailan ahora que exageran muchos números.
Where did this Gatsby picnic take place? There were Gatsby picnics at the Wattles mansion in Hollywood 20 years ago. Is this the same one? Over on my page I have a clip taken off the news on Tv of me dancing and singing at the Gatsby picnic 20 years ago.
This was a performance at the Gatsby Picnic, put on by the Art Deco Society of California. It is a recreation of a 1920's summer afternoon picnic at the Art Deco Dunsmuir Mansion estates in Oakland, CA.
You are the Cats Pajamas and the Bees Knees! My Grandad did the Charleston in England in the 20's and told me one of his girlfriends had bells on her garters that jingled when she danced!
Thank you so much for your performance - it made my day!
I just put this in my favorites. Peter was so modest when I mentioned you guys had won some big competition - he'd said there was not much competition in this narrow field of dance - but you guys are utterly terrific! You are so much more interesting than dancers on TV and such. You are captivating to watch!
OMG LOOK AT THERE FEET i would frickin fall LOL
