I remember seeing this when I was living in Atlanta in the late 1980's. I stayed home on a Saturday night just to watch NRBQ on TV. The greatest bar/club band of all time. Oddly enough, that same night the no- talent puppets New Kids on the Block were playing a sold-out show at GA Tech's Grant Field football stadium. Sometimes I think there is no God.
Yeah I guess it must be rough for these guys to have nowhere near the fame, good looks, or success of NKOTB... That album went 8 times platinum, had 5 number one hits- and these guys just added one more sale. ;)
8 times platinum and 5 number one hits can never erase the fact that anyone who bought it (except for teenage girls) is a giant douche.
NKOTB didn't, doesn't, and will never have respect from reputable musicians. Well-executed (but no talent) marketing gimmicks never stand the test of time.
But not a sold-out tour. There were canceled dates, fewer tickets sold the longer it went, and the tour ended up close to break-even according to most observers.
They'll always be considered a marketing gimmick, which is fine as far as making money goes. Part of their fan base might stand the test of time, but it's obvious their music never will. Even other no-talent marketing gimmicks like The Monkees and Duran Duran have earned more respect in comparison.
thats awsome!! the best thing ive ever seen done to a nkotb record ! well ive never actually seen a nkotb record before this but it is the right thing to do with one
You see, theres real music from arists you'll someday be blown away by, done by people that write and play instruments , and theres corporate-manufactured children-pop. Youre only a teen for 1/8th of your life- but for the majority of your life, you will spend learning about the real thing...when youre older. youll understand someday kids.
