The term "marriage" has morphed into meaning non-religious civil unions, but it isn't. I'm Catholic, and so a wedding is a religious ceremony, and a sacrement. To the state it's just another civil union.
And therefore, if you want a marriage, then find a religion that let's you. Being a member of a religion is a matter of choice, and so if you don't like what your religion says are the rules, then leave. But don't go telling me that my religion must do this or that. And the People don't want the govt to recognize gay marriage. That's it.
