In general I feel pity for the boxer's groin hanging there being a easy punch bag or kick bag. :) So please think again before you try to evaluate Bruce Lee's system. I think you need to learn a bit fencing and wrestling or better just JKD before you give any opinion. Boxing is not enough at all here.
Huh? He's boxing quite terribly on the heavy bag here. Stiff arms, never returns to stance which is as much a part of a punch as any boxer knows, stiff straight-legged. From a boxing point of view, that was poor.

i punch and kick like Bruce Lee, but i believe that peace of the mind, is the best thing ever. once you know you are so strong, you have to stop being worried about attacks and just focus on whatever your life is about. this is totally stupid to fight as a sport, there are many other sports that are much fun, without that much risk for head injuries and stuff. this is death, people..focus on the beauty of life, seriously

Everythings wrong. You plant your feet wide apart, you bend the knees, you lower the pint of bodyweight to the ground, you do a whole lot of shit for a balanced stance. The way the guy is standing, any instructor at any gym could send him flying.

And you keep denying it. Martial arts is also about discipline and simplicity. Do not make a fool out of yourself and curse when you're the one with false information.
Also JKD is what he learned. He learned many things which led him to create it. I don't know what you don't understand about that. And wing chun was one of the first arts he trained in but he trained in so much more. And Jeet Kune Do became the core of his training when he created it. You're not going to convince us anything else.
you're pretty awkward. I don't know how you can't know he created JKD. and I've been saying he created it the whole time just like everyone else said. But you keep denying it. And I'm pretty sure you're the fag. You're the one who seems confused.
I hat to argue about stuff like this cause they tend to go know where but if you read the jkd books they are so simialiar to wing chun. Even to the smallest things and the basic things you practice are almost identical. So in reference to what you said he learned wing chun which in essense lead him to teach jkd.
@tigeriron1 no you are wrong my friend, bruce lee did not created jeet kune do as a style, he didnt bealive in style, jeet kune do was a repersentation of what he bealived in, which was no style.
LOL these fan boi's give you negative thumbs because their precious Bruce cannot be beaten. Wake up, Bruce Lee wasnt even a professional figther. He is regarded for masterful technique and speed, yet he hardly practically applied it to a professional fighter, let alone one caged in with him in the octagon. Bruce could do well, but not with his current style.Bruce would need to change to more of a MMA style, then he would truly be competative.
The reason why Bruce wasn't 'regarded' as a 'professional fighter', was because he didn't like sticking to the 'organised rules' that got made with traditional styles like Karate and what not. Bruce liked to fight street style, which meant he didn't have to get in position like the Karate people do, but just start fighting straight away. You might be right in terms of being ranked by judges and what not, but everyone knew he was the best fighter going. He had speed AND power.
and I have to agree with that. But you've seen his demo kicks and punches. Imagine one of those landing full force on someone in a soft spot where it is meant to strike. So dump the ring and dump the regulations, who has the better chance surviving?
Bruce Lee basically invented MMA........... Jeet Kune Do was a mix of Jujitsu, Wing Chun, boxing, and several other styles of fighting or combat. He studied all the styles of combat of his day too. He would be an undefeated pound for pound champion if he entered the cage. Bruce Lee tore apart his opponents.
He basically did....... He was one of the first to combine several arts into one. Mixing different styles was unheard of during his day because everyone was one discipline instead of many.
yeah it's true. I mean he wasn't the first to do the whole MMA thing and combine more than one. But you could say he fathered it etc. So yeah he basically did.
Listen small child I will tell you exactly what you said.""He created nothing. He learned Wing Chun of his master."" You said he created nothing. **Everyone** said he created Jeet Kune Do. And you keep denying it. Martial arts is also about discipline and simplicity. Do not make a fool out of yourself and curse when you're the one with false information.
ip man was bruce lee's master, so he was batter at wing chun than bruce lee, but bruce lee is more versatile, studied in several different other forms as well
no dude He didnt do nearly as much grappling. He knew about it, and the moves but he couldnt pull em off or keep them from happening to him against a skilled wrestler. His speed would mean nothing when he was winded, which if a wrestler got a good double-leg takedown on him, hard, on concrete or something(if it was a streetfight) and he would be on the ground where again his punching speed is obsolete. I think it would be a very good fight to say the least.
Lee used to be involved in streetfights when he was young, that's why he had to flee to the US. He probably knew a couple of things about dirty fights...
There is a good interview about what you said. Bruce Lee used to hava a Gold medalist in Judo as a student. And he used to say: "If I get close to you I have no chances, your problem will be to get close to me but I wont let you." And he won all fights againts a Gold Olympic medalist in Judo who also was a black belt in Jiujitsu. Bruce was diferent, to fast too powerfull. He kncks down with one hit.
people make enormous claims about his street fights, and when asked for evidence, they almost incredulously reply that street fights aren't recorded and that the expectation is unreasonable. well without evidence, how can anyone make ANY claims about bruce lee, good or bad? he's simply an unknown quantity in terms of real fighting. a superb athlete, with some good demos, but that's it. i don't hate bruce lee; i hate the public hyping him beyond reality, without really knowing anything about him.
just watch his bag work as objectively as you can - his form is quite sloppy. it doesn't surprise me that he was knocked out in thailand by an unknown thai fighter. that's a little known fact nobody talks about - guess it's sacrilege in the apparent cult of bruce lee worship.
real fighters dont make promotion vids? wtf? all the great fighters make promo! besides this was made AFTER he passed away. anyway bruce invented mma and certainly wasnt a comedian.
Holy shit im sick of hearing the gracies!I just watched never back down and the gracies arent shit! How can you say that when they get murdered in japan at the very style they say is the best. How can you say the gracies started it when competitions have been going on for hundred of years. The gracies are nothing. How can you consider yourself great when pulling a another persons hair in a santion fight.Guess what if that happened to me i would rip his ears off cause theres no honor in bjj!
i am saying that their style is the best (along with other grappling arts such as catch wrestling sambo etc). However against someone who knows their gameplan and can avoid takedowns the fight becomes a striking fight in which they lose. Strikes allow mma fighters to set up submissions. In Gonzaga vs Werdum if it was pure bjj it would be a stalemate probably due to both being experts, but in mma Werdum won. Saying the Gracies are nothing is short sighted to say the least.
Question i understand what your saying but i hate the gracies so ill argue it some more.Sambo is a judo backround of martial art learned by a russion guy who wnet to japan and came back and taught it to others.Bjj was learned from a japanese fighters who went to brazil.Bjj is modified for there competitions. Also gonzaga wins most of his fights cause of his size rather then skill. Also i can say the gracies are nothing cause they said kung fu isnt real so they dont get my respect.
i can see why you hate the gracies, they can be extremely arrogant and bad winners/losers. I don't know enough about Gonzaga to be able to properly debate that with you. I feel that there are 'better' styles than kung fu around, but every martial art has its strong points. The gracies hate towards kung fu might have been rooted in royces 2 fights with jason deluca (deluca was allegedly trash talking against them). but i don't know for sure. either way you know your stuff on the subject.
thanks for info about jason, didnt know of him taking kung fu.I thought he took a different ma.Just looked him up and i guess he got his arm broken in that fight but thanks again.
dude where are you from??? sure the gracies might be ok but in a real fight with this guy LOL!!! he'd kill their whole family with out even breaking a sweat...besides in the 70's where were the mighty gracie family while bruce lee was at the karate torn-a-ment (meaning he whipped every one who opposed him) they would have fell to him as well LOL your young so that is to be expected!!
well try to check out some on the net when he was in the cali (I belive) competition then you will get your answers...far as the ground goes....well you have to get him there first...but even royce gracie (even though he still won but took a pounding LOL ha a real brute strength pound'n ha) back in the early days of the ufc... i think maybe 8-16 somewhere in that session of fights he fought kimo..i belive he tried a arm bar and kimo picked him up and kept slammin him (Gracie) but he finally won
i wouldn't have said Royce took a pounding. He said in an interview that he wanted to feel Kimo's strength when he fought him and he ended up losing UFC 3 (or 4 i get confused) because of it.
I think Rickson could have got him down pretty easiy. Ricksons timing is ridiculously good.
Bruce in mma would have been good. He was ahead of his time
Ok i understand your liking to the gracies but ground fighting sucks(i took ninjasui)and everytime one of friends got into a fight the sec it went to the ground everyone jumped in.Martial arts is for self defense and the gracies have a video mocking kung fu and saying it isnt used in real fights. I hate them for that since ive moved over to kung fu. Last thing mma is a sport bruce in his books talks about how to end fights quickly and defending ones self which is different from the gracies.
your a pretty cool dude to type with....but i bet royce g. probably wished after the fight that he wouldn't have done it though LOL!!!! sure style is cool in some fights but i still like the brute strength of old fashioned ass kicking
Bruce maybe beaten in world class games or not. We will never know. He was a great fighter surely, and some top matial artists backed up him when he was alive.(Some didn't after he die.)
He was a great fighter when praticed with other fighters or when involved in a street fight. But he didn't try to prove himself was still good in a world class game.
But who care? Even a great boxer can't survive in a real combat. Bruce had no recrd in sports fight, but he was a fighter in life for sure
Wing Chun was thought to Bruce Lee by Ip Man. And he create JKD

Wow. The back muscles are for *PULLING* towards you, not punching away from you. power punching comes from the leg and abdomen muscles.

you're pretty awkward. I don't know how you can't know he created JKD. and I've been saying he created it the whole time just like everyone else said. But you keep denying it. And I'm pretty sure you're the fag. You're the one who seems confused.
Coremega7 2 years ago
True, he did learn wing chun.
But JKD is his own fighting style that he created, not learned.
koolkody12 2 years ago
koolkody ! ur saying it. thanks. he doesnt want to understand ô0
ocsecnarfciccio 2 years ago
I hat to argue about stuff like this cause they tend to go know where but if you read the jkd books they are so simialiar to wing chun. Even to the smallest things and the basic things you practice are almost identical. So in reference to what you said he learned wing chun which in essense lead him to teach jkd.
Kdaddy61987 2 years ago
he took what worked from traditional martial arts and used it and disregardedwhat didn't

he trained in WING CHUN and his master dont teach no 1 any more and he created jeet kune do and the's the style he used
tigeriron1 2 years ago 7
@tigeriron1 no you are wrong my friend, bruce lee did not created jeet kune do as a style, he didnt bealive in style, jeet kune do was a repersentation of what he bealived in, which was no style.

he would've been crushed, but with his ability both mentally and physically in a year or two of training he could be good.
daz45 2 years ago
LOL these fan boi's give you negative thumbs because their precious Bruce cannot be beaten. Wake up, Bruce Lee wasnt even a professional figther. He is regarded for masterful technique and speed, yet he hardly practically applied it to a professional fighter, let alone one caged in with him in the octagon. Bruce could do well, but not with his current style.Bruce would need to change to more of a MMA style, then he would truly be competative.
mrfancypanties 2 years ago
The reason why Bruce wasn't 'regarded' as a 'professional fighter', was because he didn't like sticking to the 'organised rules' that got made with traditional styles like Karate and what not. Bruce liked to fight street style, which meant he didn't have to get in position like the Karate people do, but just start fighting straight away. You might be right in terms of being ranked by judges and what not, but everyone knew he was the best fighter going. He had speed AND power.

@zx5010 Also he combined a lot of styles and exercise into one which was ingenious.

why's it always an octagon? lol too many rules and limitations in one. Take an octagon fighter out of his cage and let him fight bruce lee please.
vietsage 2 years ago 3
I agree, but the exhibition or competition, where Bruce Lee also fought is much more limiting that the octagon.
mrfancypanties 2 years ago
and I have to agree with that. But you've seen his demo kicks and punches. Imagine one of those landing full force on someone in a soft spot where it is meant to strike. So dump the ring and dump the regulations, who has the better chance surviving?
vietsage 2 years ago 2
Agreed.

Bruce Lee tore apart his opponents.
brian09037 2 years ago
He didn't create MMA. He definitely hyped it and added much to it. But he definite made one of the most effective martial arts....Jeet kune Do.
Coremega7 2 years ago
He basically did....... He was one of the first to combine several arts into one. Mixing different styles was unheard of during his day because everyone was one discipline instead of many.
brian09037 2 years ago
yeah it's true. I mean he wasn't the first to do the whole MMA thing and combine more than one. But you could say he fathered it etc. So yeah he basically did.
Coremega7 2 years ago
Listen small child I will tell you exactly what you said.""He created nothing. He learned Wing Chun of his master."" You said he created nothing. **Everyone** said he created Jeet Kune Do. And you keep denying it. Martial arts is also about discipline and simplicity. Do not make a fool out of yourself and curse when you're the one with false information.
Coremega7 2 years ago
You replied to the wrong person on this one bro haha..... You replied towards me and I said he created Jeet Kune Do.

no dude He didnt do nearly as much grappling. I think it would be a very good fight to say the least.
kratosmurphy 3 years ago
Lee used to be involved in streetfights when he was young, that's why he had to flee to the US. He probably knew a couple of things about dirty fights...
gambolpuddy 3 years ago
There is a good interview about what you said. Bruce Lee used to hava a Gold medalist in Judo as a student. And he used to say: "If I get close to you I have no chances, your problem will be to get close to me but I wont let you." And he won all fights againts a Gold Olympic medalist in Judo who also was a black belt in Jiujitsu. Bruce was diferent, to fast too powerfull. He kncks down with one hit.

people make enormous claims about his street fights, and when asked for evidence, they almost incredulously reply that street fights aren't recorded and that the expectation is unreasonable. well without evidence, how can anyone make ANY claims about bruce lee, good or bad? he's simply an unknown quantity in terms of real fighting. a superb athlete, with some good demos, but that's it. i don't hate bruce lee; i hate the public hyping him beyond reality, without really knowing anything about him.
chomskyite99 3 years ago
just watch his bag work as objectively as you can - his form is quite sloppy. it doesn't surprise me that he was knocked out in thailand by an unknown thai fighter. that's a little known fact nobody talks about - guess it's sacrilege in the apparent cult of bruce lee worship.

sorry, gotta disagree. The gracie family started the first mma organisation and they revolutionised martial arts
memento18poker 3 years ago
Holy shit im sick of hearing the gracies!I just watched never back down and the gracies arent shit! How can you say that when they get murdered in japan at the very style they say is the best. How can you say the gracies started it when competitions have been going on for hundred of years. The gracies are nothing. How can you consider yourself great when pulling a another persons hair in a santion fight.Guess what if that happened to me i would rip his ears off cause theres no honor in bjj!
Kdaddy61987 3 years ago
i am saying that their style is the best (along with other grappling arts such as catch wrestling sambo etc). Saying the Gracies are nothing is short sighted to say the least.
memento18poker 3 years ago
Question i understand what your saying but i hate the gracies so ill argue it some more.Sambo is a judo backround of martial art learned by a russion guy who wnet to japan and came back and taught it to others.Bjj was learned from a japanese fighters who went to brazil.Bjj is modified for there competitions. Also gonzaga wins most of his fights cause of his size rather then skill. Also i can say the gracies are nothing cause they said kung fu isnt real so they dont get my respect.
Kdaddy61987 3 years ago
i can see why you hate the gracies, they can be extremely arrogant and bad winners/losers. I don't know enough about Gonzaga to be able to properly debate that with you. I feel that there are 'better' styles than kung fu around, but every martial art has its strong points. The gracies hate towards kung fu might have been rooted in royces 2 fights with jason deluca (deluca was allegedly trash talking against them). but i don't know for sure. either way you know your stuff on the subject.
memento18poker 3 years ago
thanks for info about jason, didnt know of him taking kung fu.I thought he took a different ma.Just looked him up and i guess he got his arm broken in that fight but thanks again.
Kdaddy61987 3 years ago
no problem :-)
memento18poker 3 years ago
dude where are you from??? sure the gracies might be ok but in a real fight with this guy LOL!!! he'd kill their whole family with out even breaking a sweat...besides in the 70's where were the mighty gracie family while bruce lee was at the karate torn-a-ment (meaning he whipped every one who opposed him) they would have fell to him as well LOL your young so that is to be expected!!
medlinsrednose 3 years ago 2
do you have any videos showing Bruce in a REAL fight?
I have seen and heard of the amazing things Bruce could do but until i see him compete against a resisting opponent i am a little skeptical.
And dude i'm not flaming you, i have masses of respect for Bruce, but he's not, to my knowledge, fought a skilled ground fighter.
memento18poker 3 years ago 3
well try to check out some on the net when he was in the cali (I belive) competition then you will get your answers...far as the ground goes....well you have to get him there first...but even royce gracie (even though he still won but took a pounding LOL ha a real brute strength pound'n ha) back in the early days of the ufc... i think maybe 8-16 somewhere in that session of fights he fought kimo..i belive he tried a arm bar and kimo picked him up and kept slammin him (Gracie) but he finally won
medlinsrednose 3 years ago
i wouldn't have said Royce took a pounding.
He was ahead of his time
memento18poker 3 years ago
Ok i understand your liking to the gracies but ground fighting sucks(i took ninjasui)and everytime one of friends got into a fight the sec it went to the ground everyone jumped in.Martial arts is for self defense and the gracies have a video mocking kung fu and saying it isnt used in real fights. I hate them for that since ive moved over to kung fu. Last thing mma is a sport bruce in his books talks about how to end fights quickly and defending ones self which is different from the gracies.
Kdaddy61987 3 years ago 2
exactly, once a street fight goes to the ground thats it, you and the other person on the floor will get head stomped.
