Crossbows or bows, intrinsically it's the same thing. I wasn't referring to just reaching it. Using a range finder would increase the chance of accuracy i.e. without using holdover.

There is a new player on the market. (tecnarm.com) They claim that their SCAR dynamics technology could deliver crossbows (they call them Special mechanical-elastic devices) with "Energy up to 2000J and projectile speeds up to 200m/s". That is impressive. I would really like to see something more than animation.

200 m/s is 656 fps

2000J is 1475 ft/lbs

They will be on the market with something called Ghetrax - it supposed to be quieter than many other bows.

stay away from Barnett crossbows, alot of problems with their strings. Go with Parkers Crossbows, Ten points and Excalibur!!

Nice shooting mate. My only criticism would be you really should practise judging range by eye. I know rangefinders are an excellent bit of kit but sometimes we rely on technology too much.

Maybe even putting marker sticks around the field before lying up would assist

@Argyll1000 Give me a break. Use the range finder. Don't listen to this guys criticism. You are doing the right thing. Range the distance before hand. This gives you accurate readings. Don't rely on this guys advice. Make a good clean and quick kill!

great mule deer! I love barnett crossbows. I have a Wildcat C5 (2008 Model) right now. I hit a 6 point right in the lungs and he didnt even take a step! Now i am getting the barnett predator AVI tomorrow! Trust me if your in the market for a crossbow for target or hunting, get a barnett! they`re cheaper or equal in price to other brands and are a lot better in my opinion.

If you don't know the first thing about a bow don't leave freakin comments. the broad head point on a bow usually has three points and they are RAZORS they are designed to cut through arteries so thst the deer bleeds to death and thats practically the same thing you do with a gun except bullets expand. its all about shot placement. if you don't make a good shoot no matter what you shoot your just going to wound an animal so learn stuff before posting stupid comments

crossbows have higher velocities than most compound bows so velocity isnt the problem

yes but the velocity drops off faster due to the weight of the bolt, so compounds actually have a longer effective range. that being said, im still for people hunting with crossbows.
