La voce di bronzo e di velluto! The best voice of baritono I've ever heard!! I envy the people who could hear him alive singing arias, and duettos with Tebaldi, Callas, Del Monaco and Franco Corelli!!
Great!Thanks for having posted this video with the picture of the Contrada of Siena (Pantera) to which Ettore Bastianini belonged and of which was the Captain.
This in NOT italian! why do italians insist on singing neapolitan songs as if they were written in italian instead of studying the correct neapolitan pronunciation?
What beauty and dramatic expression! Thanks ingriddoppler for posting and Tamara as SuperLuckydream for sharing.

A baritone who began as a bass and sings tenor arias. A jack of all trades if I ever heard one.

@ingriddoppler Yes, extraordinarily so.

@Corvastus Ignorant Corvastus: This is not a tenor aria. It's a napolitan song.
Get educated, loser!

@Corvastus This isn't an aria much less a tenor aria. It's a song. I imagine it's published in several keys.

@Corvastus Its not a tenor aria, its a neapolitan song and he is singing it in a key in the middle of his range.

You are right Hans, but when I hear Bastianini's voice, everything disappears, and only the beauty of the music and his voice remains.
And actually his Neapolitan is not as bad as many performers.
