@jimmyxx3 Hitler didnt allow paracute drops after Crete. Another one of his many military mistakes. Crete was an island that was highly defended and airborne attack was literally the only way to gain control of it. It was also overall a success. Paracute drops could have been done in Russia to great effect with the way the tanks and infantry were catching up. They were going to be used against England in operation sealion but yet another one of der fuhrer's mistakes messed that up too.

I am still reading and going back every year to the island to learn more about the history of those 10 days in 1941 and the occupation afterwards. People over there will tell me. Total casualties on the german side during the Crete operation 1941-1945 are still unknown, but hey severe heavy losses. Mass graves are still found today, I know, because I travel all around Crete every year.

Diverse historcians are still counting, and even the Germans their self don't know. One thing is for sure: the Germans lost AT LEAST 4500 men in the first ten days.
