  • Yes, 38 years and poof???? I myself worked for the largest telecom for 23 years and was also laid off with the same result, POOF!!! Gone!

We cannot allow our futures to stay in the hands with ilintent. If we do it is our own fault. It is time to stand up and force change!

  • We can replace American manufacturing jobs, fix our economic woes and improve life for everyone in America IF....IF we force the special interests OUT of our way! THEY are the reason for our present mayhem. So profound how exceptionally important the Wall Street protest truly are!!!!! Our freedoms needed for true entrepreneurialism have been encroached upon and I'm sure it will take a fight to regain them!!!!!! How can we wake people up to this?

  • I think it is time to concentrate very hard on exactly how to exclude that greedy stock holder demand as I believe that is the root of the problem. Funny how so many say there is no reason why the Occupy Wall Street protests have been taking place hey? I think we all know how they work in their lobbying efforts and legislation to ensure the li'l guy cannot intrude on their turf. Much of this legislation has GOT to be unconstitutional and in my belief is where we should start adn pave the path.

  • What I mean by "Have they left the back door open to new businesses" is has the greed risen so high it would be easy for new entrepreneurs to manufacture and thrive on a much lower profit not governed by stock holder demands thus becoming much more consumer friendly. Although I do understand the value of financial resources allocated to R & D, How much can new business, consumers and the country benefit from the elimination of stock holder demand?

    Continued on next post..........

  • So if their reduced costs help them to be more competitive why is it they bring those products back into the country to sell to the very people that have lost their jobs with less ability to buy their products while at the same time increasing the costs to the consumer? I think this destroys the competitive claim and demonstrates nothing less than greed. WALL STREET!!!

So in that I have this question: Is it possible they have become SO greedy they have left the back door open for new businesses?

  • You are exactly right with everything you say! But in deciding what is the best route to go it can be very complicated, especially with todays economy. I personally like many others do assume this:

In regards to manufacturing the main reason for outsourcing is to increase profits. They claim they need to be competitive and the only way they can be so is to outsource for cheaper labor and reduced regulatory costs.

  • i know i just got fired too at MNU AS A DISHWASHER I WORCKED thre for 16 to 17 years it is now over for me but you sad start my awon bizzns but it couset money how much it start one?

  • @BIRDANGAL No one is secured is this economy, the only way to get ahead is to become apart of free enterprise. Work on yourself, a job has a cap you will never get paid what you are worth until every one realizes that they will always be stuck. To answer your question it depends on what biz opportunity your looking at. The one I am working with its a $230.00 start up cost.

  • Hard-core results come from igniting the massive power of emotional commitment. Are your people committed?

Let’s get right on top of the bottom line: You must live your personal values at work. Check out slapCompany

  • well i got an offer, you easily can find job in Arab countries specially Saudi Arab the richest Arab country. you can easily get hired, they like westerns, Aramco an high reputation oil company try your luck Aramco.com

  • .........And for traveling, I love taking surf trips to Costa Rica and Puerto Rico every year. So the more opportunity for that the better.

I'm not married yet, so I was thinking $1500 a month.

Any extra advise from you would be awesome,

    Thanks

  • Thanks for replying too my comment.

'Travel' falls under the reason of why I would want to start. Especially when you said you chose it to have time and freedom.

The main reason for me is I love surfing. There's not always waves, and more times than not, the waves come in the middle of a work day. If a swell shows up on a Tuesday, id rather make up work on the weekend and surf that Tuesday,,,than be stuck working Tuesday, only able to surf the weekend when its flat.

  • 38 YEARS in a company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can remember my dad being in a comany for 25 years and was about to retire in 2 years. GUESS WHAT THOUGHS FUCKING ASSHOLES DECIDE TO LAY HIM OFF. NO JOB IS SAFE

  • I was jus wondering, what your business is?

I want to start my own business, and work for myself, but im having the hardest time figuring out what that business should be.

How did you go about figuring that out?

    thnx

  • @ridinglass5S

First you have to find out why you want to start your own home based business, you have to have passion and let no one stand in your way. Find out what your passionate about , is it health and wellness?, financial education? or travel, There are many different companies out there but find your purpose.

Myself I chose travel cause for me I always wanted to have time and freedom but never had time or money.

How much do you want to make a month? Be realistic to yourself

  • This guy is a freaking pot head! Rock on!

  • She should feel lucky she was with the same company 38 Yrs

  • the most secure job you could probably have is working for yourself

  • 38 years employment? 38 years of loyal and conscientius service only to have to re-apply for the job she has done for 38 years???? It is grotesque it really is.

  • @randomdave30 Its very unfortunate Dave, Well the latest on that is she got laid off and only had a few years to go for retirement.

  • @dreamitbecomeit A friend of mine, worked a s a midwife in a British hospital. A s a grotesque cost-saving measure, the healthcare trust employed a troubleshooter to target, find fault with and sack some of the older midwives so that they would lose all their pensions and entitlements. It STINKS.

  • hell yeah, everybody in the world should stop what they're doing and start a business at their home. great idea.

  • acctually there is job security, it depends on your job. a tenured state professor has extreme job security for example. second, i've heard that "start a home based business" rhetoric for years. at least with a job you know as long as you are there, you will get money to pay the bills. with a business, you have to come up with a novel idea, or have existing capital and not only work your ass off, but have some good luck too. i'd be curious to know what you have done that works

  • @chrispollock Hey Chris The Major problem with having a job, your income is limited. You might get a raise but you will never earn what your worth and they can let you go at anytime. Thats the reality of having a J.O.B.

If you tried working from home and you were working your butt off, you did it all wrong. I got in this industry for time and freedom. Your mentor must of guided you in the wrong direction but at the end of the day its up to you.

  • I think creating value is what people need to learn.

You are creating value just by making this video.

  • Very good video.

You have to think where you going, what are your goals in life.

    Good luck to everyone!!!!

  • be nice to start a business without the government sticking their hands into every aspect of it. Can't even get off the ground. Can't get a tax number without inventory, can't get inventory without a tax number,, come on man.......

  • @doyouhearmeihearyou I think we will see the underground economy take over their "official economy" soon.

  • There is no job security as this nice video says.

The only job security is in our marketable skill set.

  • @razban01 its because employers don't want to pay more than the minimum wage.

  • This is happening if you think Osama is going to save you boy I feel sorry for you. I'm having to face the real world at 29 being unemployed. I'm continually looking for a business to buy are get into. The corporation and the government is not to be trusted, security is an illusion freedom is worth dieing for.

  • Back in the 80s, a woman I knew worked for a bank. Mid level management (14 people) were taken to lunch and given a big speech by the head manager who left early to catch a flight. When the mid levels returned to the office, there were security guards and cops who prevented them from entering. All laid off, and the manager's speech was all BS. YOU CANNOT TRUST YOUR EMPLOYER! "That you may march a thousand li without wearying yourself is because you travel where there is no enemy." -Sun Tzu

  • we're expendable assets..what ever it is you people earn, India and China will do the same job 2/3rds less..look at the increase in guest workers from India..the call centres are based in india..

When an indian student comes along and takes your job at $5 an hour..thats whats gonna happen 'coz its happening in Australia.

  • @gbilios Dont worry...when our economy collapses then theirs will too. Then they will go to war, and their populations will come back down to reasonable levels. THEN they will not be able to leach off us.

  • Rich, great video and very heartfelt. Sorry for your Mom's situation and hope she's going be OK.

Corporations and governments care about nothing than the bottom line and beaurocracy. They'd like to think of you as a person, but it's their job to think of you as personnel. When they have the vale of all of that beauocracy and "official channels" that everything has to go through it makes it easier for them to dehumanize you in their view so they don't experience all of that inconvenient guilt.

  • Excellent video, Rich.

Hope everything works out for your Mom.

There's no such thing as job security and that's why I decided to follow my heart and leave corporate America 9 years ago. I'm now happily working as a business coach for entrepreneurs who want to transform the world.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Bro you hit the nail on the head. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. The same thing happened to mine, not on that big a scale, but with the lay offs and all. Same thing ALMOST and still may happen to me lol! Your rite on target though. J.O.B. security is a joke. Here's to everyone's independence and success and a prayer out to you mom!
