  • Since I don't trust Fox, I won't watch this video.

  • "...AT HOME!!" hey,I still like this vid.

  • Bullcrap. You can get mics for $10!

  • @hsseriesauthor Yea a bullshit one lol

  • If you're into home recording but you are too cheap and you are not good at lyrics, all you need is KXStudio (Google it). Then you can use Rosegarden, ZynAddSubFX (powerful synth), and there you have it. Of course, unless you need a mike/external devices, you don't need an audio interface. All you need is a sound card, speakers and subwoofer.

About me, I'm no keyboardist and I don't have the money for that. All I use is a mouse for entering MIDI notes, but don't laugh at me. I'm poor.

  • Its funny people had the talent back when, but had to make it to get the deal in the studio and the record. Now we got the gear and equipment but now no talent lol.well not everyone.

  • thumbs up if u went to studioathome . com

  • yea but you have to know what you doing.... unless you have AMAZING SONGS. no one is gonna buy a horribly mastered cd.. at least i won't

  • Something about this irks me...

  • Thanks for uploading this great video!!

  • nah- after the break we'll show you how easy it is to fly a plane- if you already know how that is! oh how bedroom guitarists are going to have dreams crushed when they figure you can't just plug it in and play. any thumbs up from those who hate when musicians pretend theres nothing to it?

  • putting the bigger music studios out of business? is he on fucking crack?

  • They may be stupid but it's true i'm currently trying to do all this just with better (expensive) equipment but pray for me bcuz i need my school to fund it pray pls!

  • @captivity1061 i do mine on about £1500- true i've spent more but it wasn't necessary and i could do it for less, i just like the new toys. i think you could make a hit on a budget of around £900 if you know what you want and what you need first- thats the hardest part but trial and error and those expensive things you thought you needed but have only touched once since you figured out cubase or pro tools and effects plugins can do it better... lol

  • @MrStudioManic i live in america

  • You can't buy an engineer at Guitar Center. That's why everyone's music sucks. PS: Everything he is showing SUCKS

  • @DeadlyMixKrew

I've seen a lot of indie bands here on youtube, with their own home studios. And there's a lot that have great sounds. Take Jack Conte as an example, his music sounds awesome. The twintapes also have a sweet sound.

  • @himl994 I'm not saying everyone is awful, just most. You get back what you invest and that's not only in equipment pricing, that's with people too. Picking up an instrument isn't gonna make you a pro in one month but lessons, studying, and years of obsessive practice MIGHT. Same goes for engineering. It's an artistic science and an actual science. You need to master both to have a chance at being good.

  • You can't buy an engineer at Guitar Center. That's why everyone's music sucks.

  • @DeadlyMixKrew The only problem is they make it sound like riding a bike- i know i've been producing for many years now but i still need to iron out some creases before i even think about hitting the road. i hate bands who do shoddy jobs and they can't hear the instruments aren't playing well together they're too focused on being too big for their boots, as are most home recordists. and they think they bigshots but really they in the business of having fun- as are their fans- they hard work!!!

  • @MrStudioManic Agreed

  • he can't be serious recording vocals like that

  • WTF this is just expensive some of are broke!!!

  • Music Equipment = 500$

    Karaoke CD = 5$

    Retarded Fox "guide" = Priceless

  • lol no douche at his home is gonna get the same results as a professional in a studio with professional equipment

  • hey friends ... I got to interview a world-class studio designer and engineer ... you can make great recordings at home cheap! ... at least to what it used to cost. Please check our channel ... lots of good free info ... secretpros ... enjoy! =)

  • "i've got an idea for a hit record...." what?

  • im going to try it

  • im about to have my own studio..plus i can record others as well rather than to go to somebody else and waste my money to them..when im a well able to do it myself!!specialy me being a musician i can just do and instrument album..and make money!!!

  • Oh man. This report is SO bad.

  • Nice snag! ;)

  • @southsidekre1 exactly. Like music itself, when you practice with different musician you learn all kind of things. And yes we always learn, that good for anything else.

  • @southsidekre1 Already done and i continue to get some information everywhere. It just that nothing beat the hour you take trying what you just learned. One of my friend run a professional studio, i might just go check out his way of doing things.

  • @southsidekre1 Then yeah, you can make something sound like what you want with minimum knowledge. But it won't sound professional. But how do you want to sound isn't the subject i was talking about at all, because it's really something else. I'm not into Radio type of song in fact i'm far from it, but for me, i need to sound Professional to do the justice my songs need.

  • @southsidekre1 Make the difference between something listen-able and something professional. Basic knowledge is useful but its not enough to sound great. Recording, Mixing or Mastering are 3 different art that need to be explored to be Mastered. Don't think you'll know everything from "basic knowledge". Its like saying you'll be able to be a professional guitarist in matters of weeks...

I know a lot about VST and i can't sound as GOOD as professional studio neither i can sound as Loud

  • pro tools yeah.....

  • Thats funny ! WTF does Amarican idol have to do with home recording ? NOTHING !!! 

  • whats the name of dat song

  • They talk about it like its easy to get good sound -.-... Fuck, it take some freaking serious knowledge and experience to get a good sounding mix -.-.

  • hiii everyone check out this we intend to get somewhere with this hope u like it or whatever /watch?v=P4Wgi-YUmIM comment msg

  • yeh, i want to become a rapper and i've looked at all videos and if you know any tips about song writing, how to make background music, websites that might help me or even equipment you recommend is apreciated thanks and yes @comptongameLA i dont really want to do this for money, it just appeals to me

  • Its Funny Cuz The Vocal Mic Of That Guy Is An AKG -C414 Wich Cost Like A Thousand Bucks If You Get It New! :/

  • Sorry, home recording studios aren't a secret.

  • "It comes with software that acts just like a tape recorder."

    ...

The retard explanation of a Digital Audio Workstation.

Thanks Fox, way to make our jobs sound easy.

  • @rationalthinkermusic i agree being a sound engineer myself but you have to bear in mind this is broadcast on a news channel that is watched by people who aren't always necessarily musicians. they may not have the knowledge yet that we musicians etc have.

  • @kingofkeyboards I understand. The point they are stressing is how easy it is to set up a recording studio, however, they never make any mention of how difficult it is to use the actual equipment.

  • @rationalthinkermusic fair point indeed. couldn't agree more with you on that one.

  • @rationalthinkermusic

making electronic music is harder than they could ever imagine

  • @rationalthinkermusic I cant believe people still listen to fox cause they have no idea what they are talking about!

  • "And after the break: 1 rape, 2 murders, 1 murder-suicide, a car accident with 7 fatalities, and a story about a kitten who's had to overcome some pretty adorable obstacles"

  • Also, that guy did not spend "a few hundred bucks" for his studio equipment. Chances are, he's spent many thousands of dollars over many years, like any dedicated musician.

  • American Idol? Karaoke CD? They really did their research for this one...

  • He's a cool singer, nice song.

  • You can buy a great guitar and amp for under $1000, but that wont make you Jimmy Hendrix.

  • Get a professional home recording studio starting at 49$....

    C R A P....

    BULL - SHIT

  • wat audio interface do u recomend for recording vocal?

    i have cubase 5 n fruity loops

    n a small mixer( behrunger MX602A)

  • @MrJevio look i use maudio fast track pro but its a little glitchy sometime, i would go with something like lexicon omega, a lot of inputs and out if you dont want so much then maybe get the alpha version, just look around online and videos on youtube, there is so much to pick from, good luck!

  • im the next game and my friend the next eminem hell yeah we the best niggas in the future, so get ready.

  • me and a few of my buddies want to start a country rap band alot like colt ford and I just dont know wat stuff to get for it? But we have the band just not the studio and I want to build one under $2000 So does anyone know anything I could use to put my studio together like a music recorder or something? I need Help!

  • tbh a lot of people can do it but not a lot of people can do it well...

  • .. and I'm Nancy Parker *GASP*

  • fuck fox news.

  • @FrikZz0r The network and the affiliates are two different entities. Yes, they're owned by News Corp, but they are not run by the same people.

  • ha ha jasne pięknie aż pała meknie

  • @11bobnmons man you really shouldn't be using torrents. A lot of people work really hard to make recording software. Their income's depend on people buying it. It's pretty much a spit in the face to the people who create that stuff.

  • $49 interface? Wtf? Where?

  • LOL, i live there. i watch FOX 8 neworleans every day.

  • Does the room need to be sound proof tho ?

  • @oBri550o it doesn't NEED to be, but it's a good idea if you want good quality.

  • @oBri550o Treating a room is really an art in itself. Yes it's very very important and can cost quite a bit of money.

  • could you use a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter to get started? then use a program to control it?

  • Jesus. This is retarded. People actually think they spend a grand and get something that sounds good. This is making me sick.

  • working on getting my studio setup...

  • @rudyaway haha Awesome,so am I. Keep it up.

Ive been working on mine forever, its hard to do when your 16 still living at home.

  • @DancingWaldo, Thanks, I looked it up. I like the built in compressor. I just bought my Fasttrack Pro, so, I will use that for a while, then upgrade. Thanks.

  • This made the news?

  • Cheap interface with recording software, about $150 US dollars, M-Audio MobilPre USB is an interface that comes with Abelton Live recording software. I heard the quality of sound is not very good, but it will record much better than the sound card in your computer. I use M-Audio FastTrack Pro, which is a step up. I'm happy with it. That's what I'm learning with.

  • @mambosando If you're lookin for a good quality interface would be the Motu Ultralite it only has 2 mic pre-amps and 8 line inputs but it has the option of usb or firewire and is extremely good quality sound for its price of 600 (which in the real world is cheap for good quality audio equipment).

Unforunately for those who want to do this professionally, your gonna have to shell out the big bucks to get decent equipment. To get an interface and rec equip will cost 2000 at the least.

  • oh my god r u serious i thing the most important thing you need is talent dumbass. a computer is not gonna make rock its gonna make beiber

  • news people are stupid and bad actors :)

  • i record songs with only 150 euros !!! i bought a zoom g2.1u with usb support so i plug in my guitar and make it happen !! so i record my guitar and bass that way ! for drums i use ez drummer since i dont have a drum kit ! but i program the beats so its not all easily ready so this way i can get credit for creating the drums aswell !! woola a song ! now i will buy an m audio midi keyboard so that i can play virtually any instrument i want !! the gist NEVER GIVE UP !! dont waste money !!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is the cheapest audio interface? that comes with sofware to mix and stuff?

please answer as i need help

  • @blackstars26 you could try:

    Behringer Podcastudio USB(interface+mixer+mic+software) OR

    M-audio Fast Track(interface+software)

I believe both come with everything you need, but the M-audio is probably better quality (roughly same price, less stuff), but dont call me on it.

Also, the ProTools version that comes with the Fast Track could take some getting used to.

  • @Pollinator95 None of them sound good. You really can't get a decent interface and converter for less then a grand. And that's not including preamps.

  • @crashdog5866 I´m 14 and my bass sound isn´t so great anyway. I don´t need (and can´t afford) a 1200€+ interface.

  • @blackstars26 You can use the inputs on your computer if you wanted, but if you want to get a good sound you need to spend some money.

  • @crashdog5866 you cannot always use the computer input(s). Pro Tools does not accept any audio except through an interface. However, Logic Pro allows you to use the bult in 1/8" port as an input.

  • @HerbalKnowledge @HerbalKnowledge Yeah but the quality of that mini jack is horrible. Those inputs are designed to be cheap to keep computer costs down.

That input is designed to take an analogue signal and make it digital, not to do it well.

  • @RainKingRecording well of course, thats why all professional studios use good converters, like Apogee and such but I was just saying that it can be used in some applications, not that it is a good idea to use it. Although it does work well for running Smaart, you just need an external mixer from the main PA since the computers sound card is unbalanced and you dont want to unbalance your entire system. So yes you are correct, but it is usable if you don't need high quality.

  • 504!!

  • If you don't count my computer, which most people already have, my recording system is under $500. What do you think? (see video response)

Yes, I know it's not a hit song. Silly. It's a practice piece. It's part of my music training. I'm a beginner. That's not the point. The point is: does my $500 recording setup produce sufficient quality for publishing music?

  • News people made this look cooler than it really is.

I bet the news cast could make a better song then they could!

  • i really wanna listen to his song

  • Les Paul....started it all.....and called it before his death!"where are the young musicians today, in there bedrooms, in there bathrooms...", even the late great Tommy Dowed, called it, but..u get what u pay for, 500 bucks, is gonna sound like a 5 dollar mix! start with quality, and build!!!!!!

  • what equipment is that at 3;27

  • whqats the deal

um like how can i break it down

  • why do ppl need to buy a mixing board if theres already one in the recording software? oh and can someone please tell me what i need to get to make a good and cheap recording studio?

  • Anybody here heard of Sonar 8?

  • dumb.

  • what song.. at the voice recording time??

  • I have 600 dollars, what do

  • @Yeahyeahyeah1964 Depends on what you want to record.

For guitar player, line6' pod studios are good, you can find reviews here, search line6 ux1. Its an audio interface and it comes with amp / effect modelling software that sounds pretty amazing.

If you need to record piano / synth sounds, you need a midi keyboard. M-audio es or oxygen are affordable models.

Reference monitors are good to have when you start mastering the music, because often, speakers and headphones tend to boost bass or so.

  • @kaleqwe ..continuing. Cockos Reaper is good and cheap software to actually record stuff. Reaper is a ''DAW'', digital audio workstation. Majority of daws host ''mini applications'', namely vst plugins. Vst plugins can be instruments such as synthesizers or drum samplers, or effects like reverbs, compressors or filters.

myvst.com is great source to get free VST plugins

asio4all.com good free audio drivers to get low latency, I got 2-4 x lesser latency with these.

  • fuck wat yal sayin - ima tryna get out da fuckin hood - we do dis shit 4 da money and da Fame - straight like DAT!

  • @damanflyest Your lame ass fuck.Whos going to want to listen to a pussy ass bitch that getting out of his own hood?Your scared or some shit?PUSSY.

  • you're drowning me, you're drowning me. you're pushing my head under the deep blue sea~

  • @Antonymofhatred What song is he singing?

  • @Antonymofhatred fuckoff pussy

  • I like having a raw, pure, real sound on mine. I play my guitar and sing. I get the audio mix good on it, of course. I don't like all the processed, over produced, edited, fake stuff that people like to use software for. I plug into the recorder and do my thing. I do have the software to do all the stuff, though. Use to multitrack, but I stopped. I play solo live, so I play solo on the CD's. What you hear on my CD's is what you hear live. Nothin wrong with that. Does anybody else do that?

  • lololo on sam ash they have the project mix audio for $899 i was buying but i want good gear so i decide to go for digedesign and now i spend little more money and i got the rack bundle with all the plugins with 8 preamps mic and command 8 as interface also the mic 414 and some other stuff well i going to school too because i need to learn how to use it

  • it doesn't matter what machine or DAW you use,

    its the man behind it.

  • pssshhh!!! now a days you dont even need a M- Box. All you need is a cumputer and software, and let the vst's and vsti's do the magic.

  • so what is it that i need?? soo i can make this happen help any one

  • can anyone help me? i have a peavey mixer and need a soundcard, i have about £200

  • Can anybody explain how soundcards works?

does the sound get better when you record or something? help :)

i am going to buy one if thats the case so i need help :)

  • @AlexMatteparamore

Yes.. it makes a big change to the quality of your recording. The soundcards found in computer at the moment are not good enough

  • What a twat. Suggesting that musicians were inspired by American Idol. I have a home studio and I never watch American Idol. For that matter I had my first analog studio about 20 years before there was an American Idol.

  • American idol doesnt inspire me all it is is shit.

  • Fox is dumb

  • "american idol has inspired thousands to dream of being the next big"

    rofl

nancy parker, you didnt get it whatsoever!!

  • the people don't build a home studio to get the nexst big star. they do it because they love music

  • right on ;)

    it's all about the music

  • i agree

  • @comptongameLA shit look at soulja boy he was usin fl studio 9 semo version

  • @TheYoungMoneyShow it's because he got no idea. FL is for for the wannabees who make youtube beats.. just poor

  • @comptongameLA Exactly! Music is my passion, exactly why I made my own home studio.

  • @PAINTBALL55 yeah man, it's true... i hate it when people think that we make music just to get a famous celebrity. actually i hate all the musicbusiness shit. it's all fake

  • @comptongameLA Exactly dude I agree. I mean I play for my church, take lessons, and am forming a band just cause playing gives me such a thrill. Idc if I get famous I just love to do it.

  • @comptongameLA Very true .

  • @comptongameLA Yea....not me I do it for the money

  • @comptongameLA And I agree with you on that! It's just fun, that's all! I do it when and if I have time!

  • @comptongameLA Great comment .

  • @comptongameLA I WANT TO BE A SAAAAAAAAR xD

  • Nice vid, check out my channel..

  • 1:14 one string ??

  • camera shot from 6th string, so it clocked all the others

  • They must have really had no news that day...

  • he looks like the dude from rank 1 :P

  • Oh ya! I'm doing that right now!

  • i did this with my band called "The Dare Devilz" Except i recordedthe audio from my camera and extracted the audio put it in itunes and put them oln my latest album. easy and cost less

  • @whitmanX23 lolololol

  • well this was a waste of time just a bunch of retards gibbering about really basic shit

  • What were you expecting from the video title?

  • well some sort of description on how to wire up a home studio

  • you're drowning me you're drowning me you're pushing my head under the deep blue sea ???? his clearly wasting money on his equipment..

  • Dude? He got a 3000 dollars mic! WTF? I mean.. everyone can have a home studio.. the Question is does anyone has enough money?

  • FL Studio OWNS ALL

  • FL studio sucks!!!

  • Why do you say that?

  • cause i am working for over 1 year with it!

now i am working on a mac with logic 8, and I now I can say: FL Studio sucks! cause there are so many other good/better DAW on the market in comparison to FL studio! do you know other software?

  • Yeah I also use Reason...That's about it though. I dont work on a mac because they are too expensive

  • I wouldn't say it sucks, it's good for beginners, but theres definitely better systems and processors out there. But I am not big with electric music, i just like to play around with it

  • Hey Please someone help me what is the name of the song they play during this video i think its somthing by Cowboy Mouth please help

  • Who here has heard of the Blue Snowball USB Mic?

  • what do i need to record ocals and guitar with windows 7

  • You'll need an audio interface to record on windows 7. Don't even attempt to record through the line in/mic input because there's a really bad latency issue that'll make you sound really out of time.

Hope this helps...You'll be good to go with an interface, everything else can be built up over time.

  • @voodooash13 mbox 2 or whatever

  • @armyqpzm you can get a behringer audio interface for 40 bucks and then all you need is a torrent of Adobe audition for instance and then a microphone and cable which is like maybe 130 bucks then you plug your stuff into the Behringer thingy which is connected to the computer USB port and then you only spend like 200 bucks

  • GROOOSSSSSSSS, why would anyone buy a project mix on purpose?

  • i just bought a USB Keyboard from Miditech and i'm gettin nuts!!! I can't find the driver for Midistart 3 :\ . . . if anybody knows where i could find it...plzzz respond!!!

  • This is one of the most useful and unscary way of doing it.

  • anyone know the name of the song he sings?

  • lol i just use my usb mic, but that is only good for recording my vocals and guitar. But if i got a electric drum set. I'm all good baby.

  • i bought myself a mic, mic cable, mic stand, and the new x2u xlr usb adapter...its a start for a soon to be studio at my own home and it was only about 281 total
