I mean, I guess funny games sort of, but The Strangers just did it better, way better. Watch this shit alone at night outside of a city and tell me this shit doesn't scare you.
I was home alone on Halloween night with just my pekingese, my husband was out of state bowling, and I live 300 miles from my other family so I was pretty scared especially when my dog came out of the exercise room growling and wouldn't stop even when I called to him.
Come on guys. You may all call yourself critics, but sometimes a movie shouldnt be judged on its storyline, or how much money was dumped into it, but how much you enjoyed the film. I know most people did too, even though its just a simple horrorfest

This was bullshit, sure they did use more effective ways to scare you however after a while it just got tedious and the climax sucked ass.

Yup a part 2 of The Strangers is gonna be made. I can't wait i love the first one. I love horror movies but get kinda tired of the same scare tactics. This movie atleast didn't have that. I hope that part 2 has alot of killing's/blood & guts/gore in it. Since part 1 really didn't. Plus i love horror movies with alot of blood & gore.
I watched it on DVD with a bunch of my friends, and at the very end when Liv Tyler lunged at the boy, one of my friends fell off the couch and literally sprained her ankle. I'll admit though, it was hilarious.

It was like 30 minutes of drama, 50 minutes of the killers going 'boo' here and there, and 10 minutes of people getting stabbed a few times + the ending credits.

i thought it was awesome! very very creepy like, "why the hell are they doing this to them???" creepy. the directing was incredible, specially for a first time director. i totally agree with you on the whisper thing she did and i also was expecting mike's death. it was SOOO obvious the minute he came through the door. i absolutely loved the strangers characters!! they were so creepy in every frame they were, specially because they were so quiet... it gives me chills :)
I also notice the small details in movies as well. and i agree wiht you on the screaming part, it was perfect!! It took me a couple hours to fall asleep that night as well, with a baseball bat by my side of course :P
I never get scared by horror movies, I rarely jump, and I can walk through the dark just fine all by myself. That being said, I did not expect anything completely terrifying out of "The Strangers". I definitely wish I had been more prepared to see this movie cause it shook me up more than any other movie I can remember seeing recently... And I agree, the first major jump scene made me hop over to my right and curl up into a ball for a split second, THAT's how terrifying it is.

OMG I missed this in the theatres but I watched on Starz a few months ago with my sister at like 1 in the morning while we were home alone one weekend. I didn't think it'd be that scary, I mean I'm a horror movie fanatic and rarely ever get this scared but I live in like the middle of nowhere literaly and after it went off me and my sister both popped out of bed and turning on every light in the house and locking everydoor with phones in hand. It was an amazing movie though just creepy as hell.
You know in the beginning, when you hear a woman talking on the phone to the police, it's not Liv Tyler's voice, it's a woman being terrified saying some1's in her house and stuff. Is this part real? like really REAL, or is it jut something they used to scare people even more?

ooohh jesus i forgot.. on halloween this girl knocked on my door with the doll face mask and just stood there like looking at me.. i also noticed another one standing just off my front garden staring.. i offered them some sweets which they took silently.. by this point i was too freaked out and closed the door.. i didnt open it for the rest of the night! =P
the stangers was amazing in the cinema.. me and my friend went to see it and had our feet drawn up on the seats and were like hiding behind our hands for the best part of it.. however on dvd at home i didnt find it as scary.. i dont know whether it just didnt have the same effect in the cinema with the surround sound and everything or whether it was just because i had seen it before and knew what was coming.. still a great film though i would recommend it =D
Yeah I didnt sleep that night and the next few days... I was totally freaked out and scary movies don't normally scare me. because the movie is based on a true story. i think it has to do with the director or the produced. He owned a house and somebody would come knocking on the door and the daughter would go answer. if someone answers, than the person will move on to the next house but if they dont answer, theyll break in. they kinda twisted the story by putting the killing part but it was based on true events
I was a little disappointed in the movie. One part that got to me was when I think the blonde (can't remember) was stabbing Liv with such ease and then the way she was screaming.

When i first saw this movie i was like WOW! this film was like amazing. Now that i look back at it, I'm kinda dissapointed because for 1. The strangers do take off their masks, but you barley see there faces (maybe the sides tho) 2. The storyline. Now im not saying that it was a bad story line, im just saying it was a little hard to follow. The thing that really got me into it was when there was that writing on the window. There were a lot of "Jump Scenes". I would rate this movie 3/5

OMG I missed this in the theatres but I watched on Starz a few months ago with my sister at like 1 in the morning while we were home alone one weekend. I didn't think it'd be that scary, I mean I'm a horror movie fanatic and rarely ever get this scared but I live in like the middle of nowhere literaly and after it went off me and my sister both popped out of bed and turning on every light in the house and locking everydoor with phones in hand. It was an amazing movie though just creepy as hell.

You know in the beginning, when you hear a woman talking on the phone to the police, it's not Liv Tyler's voice, it's a woman being terrified saying some1's in her house and stuff. Is this part real? like really REAL, or is it jut something they used to scare people even more?

ooohh jesus i forgot.. on halloween this girl knocked on my door with the doll face mask and just stood there like looking at me.. i also noticed another one standing just off my front garden staring.. i offered them some sweets which they took silently.. by this point i was too freaked out and closed the door.. i didnt open it for the rest of the night! =P

the stangers was amazing in the cinema.. me and my friend went to see it and had our feet drawn up on the seats and were like hiding behind our hands for the best part of it.. however on dvd at home i didnt find it as scary.. i dont know whether it just didnt have the same effect in the cinema with the surround sound and everything or whether it was just because i had seen it before and knew what was coming.. still a great film though i would recommend it =D

Yeah I didnt sleep that night and the next few days... I was totally freaked out and scary movies don't normally scare me. We went and saw it in the theater with my brother and my fiance and when we saw it the part where the man is at the window I screamed louder than the girl did and everyone in the theater just looked at me lol

I remember watching this on halloween at midnight. This movie scared the crap out of me. But then i saw the movie again at 8 and wow was this movie dum. This movie was more funny then scary. But if you watch this movie be really tired or this movie will be really boring.

I remember when I went to go see it with my friends at the chepies. I was SO scared. I shut my eyes, I was holding on to my friends arm. Oh my gawsh, i told myself i would NEVER see this movie again. And also, to know that it was based on a true story... Is even scarier. Wow, never seeing this movie again but... It was really good to make me that scared :D.

i watched it alone in my basement at 1:00am and was terrified for my life, totaly loved the movie...about a month later i made my bf watch it with me and he pointed out in one scene the man in the mask that i hadn't noticed the first time i watched it. watching the movie the second time around i was just as terrified as the first because i was afraid id missed more creepy details. incredible movie, total work of art.

A couple gets stalked by bad guys, they can't get out of the house and they have axes...wow how original! Terrible storyline, editing and ending. You really don't know much about movies if you really think this is good.

Your right actaully, the trailer really did scare me. If Your into finding little things, my friends saw one of the people in the background just in the house in the bit where its kinda like past setting the scene but before anything really goes down so yeah, try and look out for that. I
hate masks (so I was pretty scared when a friend came out the toilet with a towel on his head like the guy lol) The middle when they were outside was scarier because Im a dork and I think I can defend myself...

i thought the trailer was a lot better than the movie itself. i was so dissapointed throught out the movie. the constant jumping in and out shots from the killers got annoying because i wanted them to actually attack/kill the victims. and i was so pissed off because the guy in the mask never got to use to ax on anybody. WTF. worst 12 dollars i've ever spent. getting hyped up over nothing...i'm still pissed

because the movie is based on a true story. i think it has to do with the director or the produced. He owned a house and somebody would come knocking on the door and the daughter would go answer. if someone answers, than the person will move on to the next house but if they dont answer, theyll break in. they kinda twisted the story by putting the killing part but it was based on true events

When i first saw this movie i was like WOW! this film was like amazing. Now that i look back at it, I'm kinda dissapointed because for 1. The strangers do take off their masks, but you barley see there faces (maybe the sides tho) 2. The storyline. Now im not saying that it was a bad story line, im just saying it was a little hard to follow. The thing that really got me into it was when there was that writing on the window. There were a lot of "Jump Scenes". I would rate this movie 3/5

me and you are alike dude i catch every scene of the movie and put it together and try to figure out what was gonna happen and like when mike was walkin down th hall about to enter the room...you could see the man stranger following him and to be honest i thought that mike was gonna go in the room they were in and then the strnager was gunna exspect the others to be in there and just like suprise att them when there guard was down since you know his friend just re-grouped with him..and nice vid
