They have now found that the accident was caused by the 19 year old in the minivan/truck because he was texting, but clearly all those vehicles were too close together so it's not just his fault.
Well the lorry? Aka semi except it was not pulling a Trailer at the time was what took the damage,if you can see that white crumple of metal behind the truck but underneath the bus...that was a 1/2 ton pickup that I THINK was a part of the trip

@chaseld23 - sorry... if those bus drivers had been doing what they were supposed to be doing, those kids wouldn't be dead and far fewer would have been injured. If they'd left enough following distance between themselves and the other vehicles, it would not have happened. My thoughts go to the families of the dead and also the bus drivers because they will have to live with they failed to do for the rest of their lives. But it was certainly the bus drivers' fault for it being as bad as it was.

yea i live in Missouri and they were going to six flags and the driver of a mini van hit the 18 wheeler, but u couldn't see the van because the 1st bus nailed it then the second bus hit the first bus and killed a girl on the 1st bus and the 1st bus killed the driver off the mini van. so 2 fatalities. my heart and prayers go out to the family's of the killed in the accident.

Your minivan is actually a full size extended cab GMC 4x4 pickup! (Z-71 offroad option) It appears that the pickup driver as well as the bus drivers were not paying enough attention to the traffic ahead. The traffic backup should have been noticeable for a couple of miles due to the dip through that valley. The crash happened going uphill!
I'm from where this accident happened. To all of you assholes putting the blame on all of the drivers involved you need to think again. I've gone down the interstate where this happened and you can go from 70 mph to dead stop when you are in the construction zone. Mabey the driver of the pick up didnt have time to stop that is why he hit the semi.

There was a Mizzou Quarterback who died who was driving the truck (the car thats smashed). The other was a girl who was one the bus that was on the girl bus who was on top of the semi. Evedently the semi stopped in the middle of the rode, the truck stopped after the semi not hitting it. Then the girl's bus was going to switch lanes and the driver glanced over so he could merge but when he looked back it was to late. Then the boys bus crashed into the back of the girls bus.

NV school bus drivers get a couple of weeks training. Inspecting & handling vehicle, pretty thorough.They teach the SMITH SYSTEM. I don't know about the Missouri. As a driver, it isn't as easy as some think. You must be aware of traffic & have eyes in the back of your head . A split second of distraction can end like this.

The Braking would be based off of the speed in which the vehicle and surrounding vehicles are Traveling, as well as Adjusting speeds for work zones, And if not on every vehicle, then at least on busses and industrial vehicles. It breaks my heart that it seems here that money is more important to the government then the safety of its citizens, as well as our children. My thoughts go out to All the Families in this tragedy.
We can send a man on the moon, and rovers on Mars, But we can't prevent Accidents like this one from happening? I think the lack of investing in exceeding technology is at fault here. We have the Technology to prevent this. We have for many years. So Why has it not already be implemented? One solution, Make it mandatory that every vehicle on the road be equip with an Electronic device, that will monitor any object from the front of, and behind the vehicle, and apply braking as needed.

Cars are more dangerous on the highway that trucks. Trucks have to be inspected by the D.O.T. Your car does not but it should.

yea i live in Missouri and they were going to six flags and the driver of a mini van hit the 18 wheeler, but u couldn't see the van because the 1st bus nailed it then the second bus hit the first bus and killed a girl on the 1st bus and the 1st bus killed the driver off the mini van. so 2 fatalities. my heart and prayers go out to the family's of the killed in the accident.

Your minivan is actually a full size extended cab GMC 4x4 pickup! (Z-71 offroad option) It appears that the pickup driver as well as the bus drivers were not paying enough attention to the traffic ahead. The traffic backup should have been noticeable for a couple of miles due to the dip through that valley. The crash happened going uphill!

I'm from where this accident happened. To all of you assholes putting the blame on all of the drivers involved you need to think again. I've gone down the interstate where this happened and you can go from 70 mph to dead stop when you are in the construction zone. Mabey the driver of the pick up didnt have time to stop that is why he hit the semi.
Why dont you asshole come to the small town where the driver of the pick up is from and tell his parents " he should have been paying attenion!"

There was a Mizzou Quarterback who died who was driving the truck (the car thats smashed). The other was a girl who was one the bus that was on the girl bus who was on top of the semi. Evedently the semi stopped in the middle of the rode, the truck stopped after the semi not hitting it. Then the girl's bus was going to switch lanes and the driver glanced over so he could merge but when he looked back it was to late. Then the boys bus crashed into the back of the girls bus.

NV school bus drivers get a couple of weeks training. Inspecting & handling vehicle, pretty thorough.They teach the SMITH SYSTEM. I don't know about the Missouri. As a driver, it isn't as easy as some think. You must be aware of traffic & have eyes in the back of your head . A split second of distraction can end like this.

The Braking would be based off of the speed in which the vehicle and surrounding vehicles are Traveling, as well as Adjusting speeds for work zones, And if not on every vehicle, then at least on busses and industrial vehicles. It breaks my heart that it seems here that money is more important to the government then the safety of its citizens, as well as our children. My thoughts go out to All the Families in this tragedy.

We can send a man on the moon, and rovers on Mars, But we can't prevent Accidents like this one from happening? I think the lack of investing in exceeding technology is at fault here. We have the Technology to prevent this. We have for many years. So Why has it not already be implemented? One solution, Make it mandatory that every vehicle on the road be equip with an Electronic device, that will monitor any object from the front of, and behind the vehicle, and apply braking as needed.

How about we stop blaming the drivers, and we all start putting our thoughts and prayers out to the families of the injured kids, or even the two families that lost their child in this accident. Stop worrying about whos fault it was and start worrying about how to help, even if it is just a post saying i will say a prayer. It wasnt the truckers fault, it wasnt the the boy driving the trucks fault, it wasnt either one of the bus drivers fault, it was an accident.

For the record to those out there bashing truck drivers, this accident was not caused by the semi. He was slowing down because he was coming up to a construction zone. The guy behind the semi crashed into him and thus the buses crashing into one another. Get the facts straight because all you do is make yourself look stupid.

@variousiroiro I'm a truck driver and a very good one at that. I obey the traffic signs and ALWAYS give the right away to you fucking "4 wheelers". You want to know some fact? Majority of truck crashes are individual crashes, meaning no other vehicels are involved. On the other hand, most car crashes involve other vehicles. Look up the statistics if you don't believe me. Cars are more dangerous on the highway that trucks. Trucks have to be inspected by the D.O.T. Your car does not but it should.
