It was a parody of Al Jolson , A popular entertainer back then. Parodying famous people was a staple of the WB cartoon critters back then and ,(if you ever watch), the same was done by the Tiny Toon Adventure cartoons of the early ninties. Sensibilities change as do public tastes , thats the way of things. If your offended then thats your prerogative but this cartoon was never meant to deliberately insult. Jolson never meant to insult either but that is certainly open to debate.
