was the venom out of the snakes mouth are u ok? i hope u went to the hospitable cause if the snake had lemon in the mouth u had to go hospitable quickly man tat must of heart mate where do u fined thees venomous snakes? how meany do you have? that scared me a bit
Curious on this but when one of your snakes dies, after you dissect it if you do it to all of them. Would putting a venom snakes body in the ground do any damage to your plants/grass/soil? I'd think but introducing a venom source even if its produce from saliva. It would have a negative effect but wondering if it does or doesn't.
I'm a mortician-in-training so the necropsy part didn't bother me. As long as the snake is really DEAD, I'm fine because I know he's not in pain. The idea of someone or something in extreme agony makes me feel physically ill.
Why dont the makers of these cages put a decent handle on the screens, ive seen you use a hook handle or poop scoop to close the cage and quite often it slips, why not make the cages with a small handle so the screens can be slid back and forth easily. This annoys me for some reason. Not your fault viper keeper, love ur vids, dont love the non handleness of the cages :( i know im sad :)
@viperkeeper How did you disifect the bin where that alternatus was in. I thought any thing the comes into contact with the infected snake had to be destroyed.
@userflock Immunity won't last like a vaccine. You have to keep a frequent inoculation going, and it's not clear what the long term effects of poisoning yourself on a monthly basis are.
my question is what happen about the bite. You needed to do a update on what happen with it . You said some kinda long drawn out word that the snake was called in laymans terms could you tell me what type it was?. also did you need to get a shot for the bite. do like your snake videos keep up the good cam work thumbs up just dont get bit again
@nevadagirl86 Hi.....nothing at all happened was like a totally non-venomous bite. His fangs that are connected to his venom glands are on the back part of his upper jaw bone. He just got me with his front teeth. Clever little bugger, OWNED me that time.....LOL
Ha ha 0.1 ccs of K would have been great I bet. Which compound do you use for the actual euthanasia? Just curious if euthasol (or any p-barbitol derivative) is as acceptable for reptiles as it is for cats and dogs.
@viperkeeper Thank you for the heads up I had no idea ketamine was so painful for anaesthesia. we mix with diazepam so maybe we just can't tell with mammals :P. Thank you for the info, and please dont stop uploading :) I love seeing procedure rather than having to read about it
LMFAO!! when he got u i laughed my arse off, lol, sorry but that was funny shit....anyway i was wonderin about thier toxicity, i kno thier neurotoxic, so isit possible to get brain damage from a bite from them?? thanks... =]
so had you not taken action im asuming the animal would have died a painful death due to impaction since that tumor was blocking his internal systems, probably giving him coccidia, you did the right thing
I have a question concerning bowel impactions and tumors. I have a Red Tail Boa who has a small lump just above his vent. It doesn't feel hard but I'm worried that he may have a tumor. I first noticed it devoloping after he was antibiotic injections for two weeks due to a respiratory infection. Could that constipate him? I would greatly appreciate any insight on this. Thanks.
I chose to comment on this video rather than a newer one because it feels more appropriate. I have a juvenile mangrove snake (B. So it was from high hopes to devastation.
Second of all good job on the necropsy. You are an amazingly lucky man to be able to care for all those beautiful creatures. Keep up the awesome work and definitely keep posting, also great narration ;D Very good for one whose unfamiliar with anatomy or herpetology:D
wooohooo - way cool bite cam!! Sorry to see the little Urutu pass - was he an offspring of the pair you featured July 31, when the badass female tried to come thru the glass to get your ass? I was going to ask after seeing the "fun with finger rotters" segment if you ever euthanize your snakes and what method you would use. Luckily this answered both of my questions and I don't have to! It was a very interesting video highlighting some of the aspects of reptile care. Great vid!
No good question. I have seen hundreds of surgical specimens, abnormal tissue really look different than normal. That's what a run of the mill tumor looks like.
You ok Al? Darn that must have scared the bageebers out of you! It shure did to me! Was that the first venomous to bite you on camera? Your lucky it was rea-fanged, because you just won the 50/50 "OH S**T LOTTERY"!

It's no poisonous at all, just venomous. A rear fang with reasonable hot juice but a poor delivery system. Was not worse than a corn snake bite this time.
I've said many time before I have no problem answering the obsure questions but I refuse to answer the obvious. NO EXCUSES, NO apologies. If I don't know what a word mean (yes, I am NOT a know it all) I look it up online. What and the hell are internet searh engines for? = learning, exploration, and enrichment.
I get well over 1000 emails a week and try to answer as many as I can. I will not support someone being lazy and somewhat moronic for not using all available resources.
I`m also from the UK and am not the most intelligent of people but I know what the word necropsy means. I also looked up the google definition and it really couldn`t be clearer! what was it that Gary couldn`t understand?
I know i shouldn't laugh... but lord that was funny al lol. To bad about the urutu though looked like a verry nice animal.
How did the bite turn out? did you ever display any symptoms?
Blah I hate doing necropsys on snakes lol I'm still not 100% on iding the internal anatomy without havng a chart up on the pc or something while I work. Its deffinately not something for anyone squeemish ^^.
