Sorry davzz but that is not true when you say "knishes .knish nosh is new like about 20 to 10 yrs old ". Knish Nosh has been on Queens Blvd since 1952! As for the best baked knish I ever had it was the fat homemade ones by an older lady at a wondeful Jewish Delicatessen in Canarsie. Alas, after almost 70 years in business in East NY & then Canasie, Grabstrein's closd their doors in June of 1999. But they were terrific & the best fried knish ever bar none belonged to Ruby the Knishman (RIP).

True Knishes are BAKED, Never FRIED...Gabila's is a nice "fried" Potato pocket...But a Baked Yonah Schimmel Knish can't be beat.

.....but what is knishes!!? He dosent say what they are!! Im from England, I keep hearing about knishes on tv and Fun Loving Criminal records, but I dont know what they are!! someone please help!!

A knish is mashed potato either baked or fried inside of a dough crust. Some people like 'em with mustard or sauerkraut.

Along with the potato they're sometimes stuffed with spinach, broccoli, beans (almost anything).....and just like bagels, chocolate egg creams, pizza, and hot dogs from Coney Island, nothing beats knishes from New Yawk.
