  • KORG the great keyboard

  • this is for all the MDs right from A.R. Rahman to yuvan shankar raja!

  • Haha WOW!!!!! Raaja played the Korg T Le like a modern synth addict :o) He is the GOD OF MUSIC!!!!! What an honor to live in the same age he composes music..Long Live ISAIGNANI!!!!!

  • Ilayaraja is a Legend.

He is 100% eligible for Bharat Ratna.

  • Ilayaraja is a Legend.

He is 100% eligible for Bharat Ratna.

  • Actually the notes he plays are pretty groovy.

  • You can talk all shit when you fail to adopt to the times. No doubt you did some fabulous stuff but stagnant water creates the gutter, moving water makes a stream. With all due respect, what you did not have back then the current generation has. It's technology. If you recollect your own work in Agni Natchathram on "Raja Rajathi Rajan indha Raja..." was all chip based electronica/disco work. To turn back and kick the ladder you used to climb to me sounds ungrateful

  • @mdilip Dai baadu.. Raja's music is evergreen. not stagnant shit like ARRahman's and he uses real instruments, keeping synths as side

  • Can any body tell me which movie BGM is this /watch?v=pIaYlbnJhr4

  • There r diff skools of music like we have diff religions.. its not fair to say tat only classical skool of music s gr8 r others r not valid kinda..

  • well said rajaa Sir,

  • i can only say is ilaiyaraja music touch the soul and all other men who make music, their music touch your ears. i challenge can any one compose even a one song like GEETANJALI.

even if music takes birth 1000 times, music cant leave IR taking on the top of it

  • raja sir.. with due respect you started as a combo organ player, introduced digital synthezisers, sequencers, drum machines with Viji Manuel, ben surender and ARR.. the point is a lot of readymade stuff is available for garnishing.. but the core recipe needs to come from the composer.. please dont dismiss elctronic music completely.. you brought in the change..dont resist it now

  • @illumjoe synthesizer is different from using rhythm and melody samples directly. He still uses lot of synth, but its his notes.

  • Plz man.....why ur getting a normal composer with the legends...............ilayaraja sir is also telling abt current music............Rehman is a international composer now so........plzzzz Both r legends and the greats of india.............Both r PRIDE OF INDIA..

    Padmabhushan Raj Sir and ARR

  • @all IR Haters

    A Snippet from Rahman's Interview

Have you lost interest in fast western beats that you were famous for?

Rahman : (Smiles) What is today's Tamil film music all about? They are nothing more than fast numbers or remix downloaded. What took me weeks to make music for a "Gentleman" or "Rangeela" can be done today if you have a computer, software and then pre-set the rhythms and you have a disco number!

Moral : Is he jealous of Harris? :)

  • well said raja sir. in front of you and your predecessors, all these rehman and harris jayaraj are a waste. absolutely trash, i can challenge u, nothing comes out of their own mind. all copied and pasted plastic crap. genius is when u actually create from ur mind and use live instruments to orhestrate it. you are truely a maestro.

  • ok guys... dont look at music just as Ilayaraja and rehman.. why dont we talk abt real folk music,, carnatic music.. those r real art music. If people are lazy not taking an initiative, to know real music.. So will the musicians.. no blaming anybody now. :)

  • oh!! guys.. dont start a rehman ilayaraja war.. everyone has their point. what raja sir says is true.. as well as what rehman does also is good. but the point is, this is cinema music.. changes will happen, people will be lazy to compose everything as ilayaraja sire does.. we r living in a age of fastfood music only...

  • I respect Raja sir and i partly agree wat he has told here..but lemme tel u all, songs like raja rajadhi rajan indha raja in agni natchatram, vikram title song in d film Vikram in d late 80's were sequenced music or done wit electronic sounds. v can say more.. i dono wats d ans for dis..but anywys both raja sir and rahman r d gr8 composers of dis era shld i say. bcoz d earlier days works of AR r stil wonderful..

  • hi.. using pre programmed loop.. is different from programmed loop. ilayaraja sir's music its mostly programmed.. in the sense. the notations are given to programmers to literally program that music.. using the appropriate sounds. it cud be modern,, but it doent mean he didnt compose it... using modern electronic sound is different from using Stylus loops :)

  • What viji manuel has done for ilayaraja sirs music is tremendous.. the feel added.. the extra chords and stuff.. thats always there.. see its cinema music.. thats ok.. but there is always the point, that is Ilayaraja sirs music is so strong that if you change one note also,, common people will identify it as wrong.. which means the composition and the arrangement is so strong.. thats what he is saying..

  • since he is from the school of classical music.. he tends to think like that.. but thats one way, too (not the only way).. we shud consider that :) anyway he's proved it.

  • @Sriramkeyboard WHAT R GREAT JOKE, IDIOT

  • @TheGreatmusiclover - 1st of al u try to type in English properly :D

  • @Sriramkeyboard WHAT A GREAT JOKE

  • If any of us comment on current music directors, it would be head weight. Raja has every right to comment

  • i agreee

  • mr.kailash nair this shows how rat s**t sized your music knowledge.. even i was once like u very ignorant and having a mediocre knowledge in music.. its not a defect learn things.. 45 time nominated and 5 time academy(oscar) award winner the legendary JOHN WILLIAMS never uses electronic chip music.. evry thng is orchestration the bloody sountracks of titanic,21st centuru fox, the godfather, indiana jones and many more blockbusters are his works... know abt orchestration and original music..

  • I dint comment particularly on this video. I am telling this in general. Have You ever hear Illaiyaraja praisin young talents in a interview or somethin?

In this video too,he ironically says he s the best and it also looks like he's commenting Rahman.

Ma friends here hav worked with Raja.He hurts ppl there if hes not satisfied.I hav even seen him shouting at Kartik n Tippu (singers)in a stage prog.

  • ok i know ur in favor of rehman. but ask yourself . whose music is gonna survive for years to come and who's music will still be a pleasure to hear in the car ? of course ilayaraja's. not rehmans. rehman once himself said his music is temporary and will not last forever. but ilayaraja's music is original, eternal.

  • "Enna veetla yaaravadu sethutangala(Any1 died in ur house)?" this s wat he told a singer in his choir when he sang. Isn't this too much for him?!!

In a FM program ,he spoke as if todays music directors are useless. If v flick the computers from them, music ll die in them.

In early 1990's he openin commented bout Rahman that he doesnt kno anythin bout folk music. But Rahman proved himself in kizhaku cheemaiyile, karuthamme n more.

N everyone knows what made Mani to split after Thalapathy.

  • @kailaashnair ..I am an HARDCORE IR fan..but What you said was right..SPB himself in an interview told once " I just love him ( IR ) ..one thing I dont like about him is.....,his temper...,romba munkopam jasthi....adha konjam maathikkanum " ..he said it with so much of love for IR.

  • @kailaashnair His temper is not justified but understandable I guess. Music comes out of him like a waterfall and the speed with which he writes and composes is unimaginable and unparalleled. fortunately or unfortunately it is difficult for ordinary musicians to come in terms with his speed and the complexities of his composition. May be thats why he stuck mostly to SPB, S.Janaki. KJY and chitra who had impeccable voices and quick grasping power.

  • really raja s a head weight guy..........he never appreciates other talents.... always findin wrong with others....tel him to fuck off n go back to 80's

  • Dont you feel ashamed to use such bad words on a noble man, he did not point out specifically to any body, he was asked his opinion about current music and he has given the opinion and with the level of knowledge he has on music he has all rights to tell that

Your words bring shame to the place you hail from where I had seen lots of people with good taste and love for good music

  • podaa dinesh thoomaa....

  • Always Ilayaraaja Rules!

How noble of His Majesty to appear on a channel and present his views..

His humility stands above his achievements...

As Kamal Hassan said, great men like Raaja sir are born only once in several hundred years and we are very gifted to have been present in his times!

    Hail Maestro!

  • please translate. thanks!

  • what language is he speaking in?...this doesnt sound tamil...but then too i understood what he said...

HE WAS RIGHT ON EVERYTHING HE SAID....I AGREE AND AS I YOUNG GUY, EVEN I UNDERSTAND NOT ONLY WHAT HE SAYS, BUT ALSO WHAT MEANING HIS MESSAGE HOLDS....

    I love you sir

  • he is speaking malayalam, the channels malayalam tv channel

  • fuck u bastard, what he told wrong. he told the correct. u ass bitch

  • fuck u bastard, what he told wrong. he told the correct. u ass bitch

  • i love you iliyaraja

  • Ilaiyaraja worked as a guitarist in Devarajan Master's troupe and it's nice to hear this humble man talking about the other greats with such respect. Ilaiyaraja- u r the Rajadhi Raja!

  • Raja sir seldom speaks.......If he speaks its not a speech....ITS A STATEMENT

  • THIS MAN IS THE EPITOME OF INDIAN MUSIC
