For me I am frighten by the prospects of Japan being forced to re-militarized if their region destabilizes. Having lived in such a peaceful nation I just have a tough time seeing it. S. Un might have a rise to power, and become equally oppressive to the ppl, the military might just take over completely and form a junta gov't which will be more hardlined against S. Korea & Japan possibly even China. Or as you said reunification can happen through the turmoil. re0unification is economically smart in the long run.
