  • TO much for me hah Awsome

  • sigh. when games were both challenging yet simple yet very complex, and in the end was perfect.. i hate new games -_-

  • I always sucked with the fatass. D:

  • I know you are doing a time trial but i could never resist those ramps

  • I loved playing as this fat guy :)

  • if the 6/5 ratio number is correct then yes it's a 1'25 "33. Seems like a perfect run so hard to belive it's much slower than that.

  • 2 people crashed into the wall....

God I never thought I'd make a comment like that.

  • So now I know why I aprreciate smooth jazz music this much, because when I was a kid I used to hear this music (Wave Runner, Pilot Wings) and unconsciously it stuck to my head now knowing what it is, but still liked it. good shit

  • Who the hell puts spike balls in a jetski race?!

  • Europe's version is 5/6 the speed of the us version. On the US version his time would be about 1:18.663.

  • huh...i thought there were more skyscrapers when I played that game

  • yea i like the vibe of this stage magical sounding

  • nice water effect

  • ummm...i have a 1:28...this isn't very quick at all

  • If this is PAL then the NTSC version must be fast as hell!

  • 0:43 What the.... cool!

  • my favorite N64 game ever! first time i've seen it in years, used to crank up The Cars on vinyl and play all day!

  • wow u fuckin zoomed through this track

  • how did you get twilight city

  • never thought to go under that first thing and into the tunnel. neat idea.

  • dude i did this on EXPERT and i still break records

  • twighlight city is atlantis LOL!

  • every where is a ocean i mean a water city this could really be atlantis for all we could know LOL

  • this game's graphics confuse me

  • @Burn1ngSn0wMan I KNOWWW it's like it was ahead of it's time lol

  • God I miss this game. So many great memories with the N64 and Wave Race especially. That fat guy sucked though, lol. It felt too heavy and slow to drive him.

  • They should make this game for the 3ds.

  • weird i just check my n64 and i got 1'31 record....

  • @oskiller3006: NTSC (= US) version, I assume?

  • @Mahrla whats the difference?

  • @arminbAUT: US version runs 6/5 times faster than the EU version.

So my time would be 1'42"396 * 1/(6/5) ~ 1'25"33x in US version.

  • 0:10 he goes straight through a wall.

  • at :11 wft?

  • so does hitting a ramp slow you?

  • @Fershizzal:

Yeah it does. That's why I drive around all ramps and using the wave at the start to d the shortcut is also a lot faster than using the ramp, because you don't jump that high.

  • I would still play this game if I had an N64.

  • This game is still unmatched by anything else out there, and what's great is it's not just nostalgia talking this

    Great skills

  • Ok, that thing where you go under the wall without using a ramp? That is awesome! You are a Wave Race obssessed MF'r. For anyone out there thinking Tool Assist, let me tell you, I JUST managed to do the trick in real time on my Wii. It IS possible. It is very hard (I only did it once), but it is possible.

Congratulations. I don't think I'll EVER be this good.

  • plejra i agree with you ... i really loved this stage for the same magical athmosphere

  • now i got1'46"575

  • i got 1'49"667

  • love the soundtrack of this track

  • @electonisjakarta it's always been stuck in my mind ever since i was a child

  • i love this game to death....i have it...n i wuldnt give it up for nothin

  • On the copy of this game that I used to rent, this guy was named "Boss Hogg" :P

  • Lol, go fat guy go! I always liked M. Jeter with how well he could stunt and his speed. I guess they're all kind of balanced though.

  • i've always loved playing in this stage.

  • Favorite level, when I got this system for Christmas this was one of the five games my parents got with it for us.

  • @reaperflynn3 me tooo!!!!

  • BOOM!

  • oh nvm u went under lol

  • lol u just ram the wall lol.

  • This location + music has magic atmosphere,

I wish to find similar place in real world

  • i agree dude. thats why i love this level

  • @plejra a flooded 1970's vegas.

  • 5/5

5 points, because it's one of the best N64 racing games

  • What would you rate this game out of 5?? Please tell me soon. Thanks

  • I used to loves this game

  • yes, brilliant game and makes me require setting up my jap / modded n64 again :D

    classic

    pure class

  • Hey did you guys know that the Jet Skiing in Wii Sports Resort is the true successor to Wave race on the Wii!!!

God I gotta get that game!!!

  • OK, obviously no one here is familiar with the difference between PAL (This video) and NTSC (Everyone else's version). NTSC runs at 60 frames, PAL runs at 50. I'll put it in simpler terms.

PAL IS SLOWER THAN NTSC!!!! Of course you're gonna post better times. Technically, his time is WELL under 1:30, 1:25 if I'm not mistaking, please correct me if I'm wrong. How did I get this value? Simple math, actually.

  • The framerate doesn't have anything to do with how quickly time elapses in games. The framerate is slower, not the in-game time. If that was the case, all European sports games would take twice as long to play as their American counterparts.

  • Exactly, the framerate is slower, but the in-game timer is running at regular speed, one second equals one second.

If you have an NTSC version of this game, play it alongside this vid. I guarantee you'll finish ahead of him. I mean, listen to the countdown at the start. If you don't notice that it's slower, than I don't know what to tell you.

Also, it's not a 2:1 ratio in time, it's 6:5. 60 Frames to 50 frames. Even that statement was off. If anything, they'd take a few minutes longer to play.

  • How do you unlock this track? Please tell me soon. Thanks.

  • the music made the game!!!

  • i got 1'34"968

    nice effort though

  • i got 1:38 on EXPERT!!!

  • Dude i got 1:36 but it was on hard

  • your no fun you dont use the ramps!

  • Sure, it's a time trial vid, so using the fastest way (meaning = skip the jumps, if possible) is the prefered way^^

  • Dude, me and my cousin got 1:36 on this level on expert!!

  • But it is no diffrence!

  • good that diving part... but i'm much faster the old way... 1:39,450 with miles jeter

    jeter rocks!

  • i did that track in 1'41"192 on Hard Difficulty with M.Jeter

  • Wow... with M. Jeter... I personally like Ryota Hayami (Green/blue guy) but still... 1 second...

  • I remember me and my friend would crash into eachother for the hell of it. HAH! 5/5 for reliving childhood memories.

  • Me and my brother once did for ten minutes, good times.

  • realy takes me to when I was a little kid playing this game. Good times.

  • I Wish Nintendo had made a game called "Nintendo: The Essential Collection," which is, obviously, a collection of all the classics like this game, SF64, Hydro Thunder (Even though that was mostly considered by Midway), MK64, and other famous classics that made it on the N64. "Nintendo: The Essential Collection" would be sold to gamers who cant afford Internet Access on their Nintendo Wii's. That would be nice.

  • damn, never thought passing up the ramps = faster

    n1

  • you can go through the wall beneath the ramp at the beginning? Wha?

  • "Hard S.M" xd

  • mhmm...the fat guy is the fastest, n try to avoid ramps...

  • this sure is a great game ... I'm also registered on cyberscore ... I'm on 4th place on this track ... How do I know if my game is Pal or NTSC ??

  • by where u live (e.g Europe, Australia, NZL etc. is PAL or NTSC is North America) Got that

  • Yepp, like Acksel92 said.

Or just try to play the first track in time trial. If you easily drive a time sub 1'15 on Sunny Beach, then you have the NTSC version.

  • awsome can u please post ur custom settings that u used, also can u reccomend a circuit that doesnt require lucky events to occur to achieve record times as i want to challenge the times u posted on cyberscore, great run, cheers!

  • My settings:

    David Mariner:

    Handling= 01/12

    Engine = 12/12

    Grip = 12/12

I recommend Sunset Bay or Drake Lake for tracks, that don't require lucky events.

  • thankyou, i have tried a number of time trials, like sunny beach, but i have failed to even get within a second of your times, whats the secret? particularly on sunny beach, best i could produce was 1'17.9 and that was break net speed, ur time 1'16.7, doesnt add up in my book?

  • You have to press/hold the analog stick forward on waves. Because jumps slow you down and every wave is a small jump. So pressing forward let your water bike reach the "ground" faster again after a jump.

Alternatively you can press the B button or both B button and forward, so that you hopefully never slow down much after a wave.

  • thankyou for your useful reply, i am using the microsoft controller (x box one) what controller did you use, i'm playing the game on computer using an emulator, btw ur times are all insane at cyberscore, closest i got was getting a 24.818 lap time at sunny beach, only .15 tenths off urs;)

  • My record is in 1:36!

    And lap 0:30

  • My best lap on this track is 29.467 seconds.

  • hahahaha that glitch at the start is a crackup.

    VROOOM VROOOOOM ... bump

  • I named him fatman

  • Yes too much sometimes and to the point where my hands also become less responsive or jumpy even lol - it's what normally costs me success at a game if i'm going for a time or score because i can't hold it together for long enough.

Classy game Waverace and still nothing to beat it

  • GoldenEye Beats it my list is 1.GoldenEye 2.Wave Race 64

  • Mahrla i'm guessing your heartbeat was pounding some on the last few corners of the final lap.Nicely done

  • Yeah, you are right.

You are probably also a highscore player and know this feeling^^?

  • I have this time beat.

  • these grafix are AMAZING. I dig this game until do do my time. I will not DIE btw. I am GOD.

  • beat it easily without doing under wall trick. time = 1'36"033 and lap = 0'30"709

  • I can beat this. I did 1'43''360 going against the computer in championship mode. And my lap time was faster as well 0'32''785

  • not bad.

  • i named him fatAass lmao

  • Excellent Job. I love this music

  • Ahhh...Good Old Days...playing this with buddies at night and hearing this song and the others...brings back memories...No wonder i couldn't get that record...cuz i always performed tricks...need virtual console lmao

  • wow... I so didn't know that you could go right through that wall

  • he isnt going right through it hes doing a nosedive. im not sure how hes doing such a minimal one without crashing though

  • Yepp, I'm doing a dive. Similar to the dive you have to do in Marine Fortress to take the shortcut in lap 1.

Just that it's 10 times harder, because there is only a very small wave that you can use to press down+up to do the dive. So a lot of luck is needed to do it 3 times in a row.

  • lol that tune sounds kinda catchy! :D

  • I renamed this guy Big Booty....loved that feature

  • I named him waddles

  • This was my shit

  • i have a better record... 1:35.. in expert...

  • Same as me I also got a 1:35

  • How do you go down under the water so far? It takes me like a million tries to get under enough to get under the wall and that means that two laps I have to use the ramp. I got 1'32" so if I can figure out how to duck under all the time I could probably lower that to 1'29"

  • Well, it also took me like a million tries to do the first dive 3 times in a row.

My opinion is, that it just depends on the high of the wave that you use for the dive. So you have to hope for a high wave in all 3 laps (altough the waves aren't that high compared to other levels, but you probably know what I mean).

  • In lap 1 I can do the dive like in 2 out of 5 tries, because there the wave is always in the same position.

But depending on how fast your first lap is, a high wave could be just in front of the wall in lap 2 or it might just disappear (and so being too low).

So, yeah, that's really tricky to do it 3 times in one run.

  • i downloaded it but i can't play it yet cAUSE I DON'T HAVE A GC CONTROLLER! UG but im buy the vc controller in a few days

  • I might download this today, can't make up my mind =|

  • This brings back memories. Truly an underrated racer.

  • I hated that city track(s)... lake aspen was my favourite.

  • i remember only trying to get under there using the waves, i thought it was the only way,im getting it on vc tomorrow. i cant wait. was it 2 player or 4. i think it was 4 because my older bro and sis played with me. she got really good. enough to were she could smoke this time. and after gamecube and ps2 we all stopped playin games together

  • thanks for bringing back the old school bro you ROCK

  • o its the NTSC...i suppose thats not the best time though

  • ive beaten that... 1'38"976...

  • On PAL? Or NTSC (USA) version?

  • That was my absolute favorite level. I remember I was playing it a long time ago, listening to Britney Spears' first CD right after it came out. I like to think my music taste has matured since then.

  • I sometimes still listen to music by Britney Spears^^

    But not while playing games.

  • I got under 1:34 with Ryota.

  • A great game, but you are too slow!!!

    I do that in 1:38!

    Please a ds port!!!!

  • 1:38 on NTSC version? Because on PAL it would be insane...

But yeah, a DS port with online feature would be great!

  • That was a nice time!!:) my personal best is 1'32! man i luv this game lol

  • haha im sure u guys know how fun and addictave this game can be...like seriously i adopt anyone i play against,i wonder if theres any experienced out there as much as i am around my corners of the world in this lil game lol...and my personal record is 1'52'000 i beleive

  • this brings bac so many memories

  • amazing show . My personal record is 1'50'056 , but with the PAL version because I live in France , and PAL is much slower than NTSC , as everybody knows . I didn't know that your final time is better when you avoid the final ramp , but then it's pretty difficult to pass between the ramp and the the wall .

  • Yepp, my time is also on PAL. I think on NTSC the record is 1'32 or even better.

Avoiding ramps is useful in all tracks. For example in Sunset Bay it's also better to drive around the ramp.

  • A absolute must for the Wii Virtual Console. Great game.

  • hey dude where do u live? i want to vs some one who i dont flog the crap out of all the time.

  • Germany, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

But your profile says you're from Australia, so I doubt that we can ever make a vs race.

  • damn. oh well....what do u rekon of wave race on gamecube? pretty bad hey

  • Nah, I really like WRBS. I think it's as good as the old WR64.

  • best game ever

  • Nostalgie. :D

  • Hehe ;) Before I watched your video, I already thought that you played on NTSC version.

That's why you are so much faster. I play on PAL version which is slower. You play on the japanese NTSC version. I'm sure you can improve your time to sub 1'30 if you use David Mariner and drive around all ramps.

  • It was a good time but not good enough. Check my time in my videos.

  • Been a few years since I've played this game, but what's up with teleporting through the first wall behind the first ramp?

  • Well, you don't really teleport or glitch through the wall. You just have to use one of the waves in front of the wall to dive under it. In expert mode you have to use the ramp to dive under the wall, but on hard mode you can use a wave, which is harder, but faster.

  • how did you get your speed up to 120?!

  • Well, first I have to say, that I play the PAL version. Maybe you have the NTSC version and the speed there is in mp/h not km/h?

However, you can change the settings of your driver a bit. When you choose your driver, don't use the default settings, but the customized settings.

  • Change your engine to the right, so that you get more top speed. You can also change the handling and grip to get more speed. But then you also loose a bit of your turning ability.

So try the settings a bit until you find the best setting for you.

  • no i checked it i have the PAL version, its set at km/h thanks for telling me about that. i did try changing the handling, it did make my watercraft faster thank you.
