  • bestial !!!

  • love this song!!

  • 3 dislikes... LMAO

  • grooviest 11/8 ever.

  • Increible.

  • Jazz is not dead... if you play it like this.

  • This is just fantastic - absolutely the most refreshing sound to hit my ears in forever - stunningly beautiful.

  • ITS NOT JUST 11/8. THE COUNT ITS WHAT MATTER..3/8 2/8 4/8 2/8..

    I THINK THAT WORKS WELL...

    WE LOVE YOU AVISHAI

  • phenominal musicans

  • I love it.!

  • Amazing music!! Anyone know what those drums are?

  • @alexhardin610 If you mean who: Mark Guiliana

If you mean what time signature: 11/8 or 11/4, depends on how you 'feel' it

If you mean which brand: no :-)

  • the pianist looks like the time warp guy on discovery lol

  • @olivercarlehed

u mean the warp guy on discovery looks like shai maestro

  • for those guys figuring out the signature, it's in the title of the song as it is a tradition that many songs include a hint there. 11

  • 5:03 "Ouch, that's hot!"

  • anybody know what 'ride' cymbal hes using?

  • @louedawg He usually uses Sabian's 20" Artisan Light Ride, but I'm not sure about this particular video.

  • @louedawg Yeah, that's it.

  • @liupolak Do you have the video of "Come Together" from this live show?? Please, please, please, tell me you'll post it!!! :)

  • bar of 7 and a bar of 4, easiest way to count it in my opinion, nevermind the signiature, this song is sooo fucking brilliant, melodic, cerebral, and full of groove

  • god i love mark guiliana

  • mamma mia!!!

  • not sure why, but i feel like this is music i would hear in a final fantasy game. a definite compliment.

  • @LethalSynergy Me too!

  • dear god.

  • yep its 11 shaped 3/3/3/2 took me some time to figure it out...

you can here it pretty clear if you listen to the piano left hand through the whole song

  • one has to say, it is amazing how they keep the groove in this piece.....

  • I don't usually do this, but... 0_0

  • wow...

  • Reminds me of 'Castilin Drums'... (anybody unfamiliar with that, does NOT know their Jazz, IMHO).

  • man this fucked with my head at first... it sounds like 7, then the "head" comes in and you realize it's 11

  • Does someone know the "metric" ? (sorry I don't how to say that in english)

I'm thinking 11/8, but I'm really not sure...

  • @Sowathehellisgoingon swaps, bars of 6 and bars of 5

  • @Sowathehellisgoingon actually, 7/8

but it isnt laid out equally like 4 beats then 3 beats like most 7/8 music, which is why it is hard to count to

  • @Sowathehellisgoingon I believe it is 11/8. Grouped 3/3/3/2. It's pretty fast so you could almost think of it as 11/16 instead.

  • you´re right! actually 22/16- 2x 3/3/3/2 - when the drums come it seems that they´re playing a 7/8 groove (dotted eights!) ignoring 1/16 note...

  • @Sowathehellisgoingon Hence the name "Eleven Wives"

  • @Sowathehellisgoingon depends on how you feel it. I tend to feel 11/4, but it might as well be 11/8.

  • This is music.

  • How great it is to receive pleasure from the sounds ...

  • What can I say? just thanks!

  • at 4:30 my face begins to melt off

  • All these musicians could be solists

  • @uncleePaulie Reminds me of Prehensile Dream by The Bad Plus. Many similarities, although the actual melodies are different. Maestro plays very Iverson-like lines. And Guiliana has a bit of Dave King in him (with the added pyrotechnics of Buddy Rich, to boot).

  • *Charlie Haden was my god, there are twice in my Zenith. The pianist looks like Barsh: what touch of class

  • *Charlie Haden was my god, there are twice in my Zenith.

  • Avishai Cohen is amazing

These are the kind of people people will remember in 300 years and proclaim our time a privileged time to live in.

Just as we do with Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin...

Bach took more than 70 years to be discovered by the mass. Things like these need time when the creators are ahead of their time.

  • did ... did they just do that?

  • Eleven Wives and Remembering are my favorite!

  • How the fuck this drummer plays like that?!?!?!?!

  • You van try to count in quarters and after two bars of what you hear at the melody you've got 11\4

so you've got 11\8 for one bar. :)

  • the emotion in this song is beyond words...only musicians of this caliber are capable of harnessing such a raw energy

  • @liupolak Do you have their cover of 'Come together' from this live show? Please, please, please! lol

  • @Kadin : It is indeed 11/8

  • how did you get 11/8? i got 15/8 ?? 0_0

  • @Rushyyz when the drums comes in you can count a clear 11 by subdividing in 4+4+3

  • @maanlanderbert 4+3+4

    -_^

  • @musixcat i hear 3+3+3+2.. i think it's because of the snare, it sounds on the 4th and 11th, something like a 12/8 in the first half, am I wrong??

  • Comment removed

  • @unjuanchomas itt´s still eleven so you´re not wrong -_^

i hear the groove of the bass & pno 4+3+4...also still eleven...ask avishai...jajajaja

  • I want Sam Barsh back, I think he had a lot more energy on the piano!

  • so.. just to be clear, the general time sig for this song is 11/8, yes?

  • avishai is simply gorgeous

  • the synchronization of instruments is just incredible.

  • Saw him with Avishai's Aurora band in Toronto last night. Incredible, emotional artistry!!

  • holy fucking drummer! haven't seen a guy play so texturally in a long long time.

  • his music is great, his feeling with the instrument is superb...

  • Great!

  • first it's 7. then after 0:50 it's 11.

  • @IskallaKillen The song begins in 11 as well, there are two 8th notes between the first three chord hits, then one8th note before the last one:

    HIT 2 3 HIT 5 6 HIT 8 9 HIT 11

  • @KhemiKool you're just making it harder than it is..

  • @IskallaKillen haha

  • humans evolve and so does jazz, its amazing what i just heard

  • 1:40 it's unreal how the music flows through us....masterpiece!!!

  • This is amazing and so hard to play on drums

  • The world has scarcely seen drumming like this, not of this calabre!

  • @bkchickfarmer91 except travis barker :)

  • @hertha787878 Come on, really? Travis Barker?

  • @bkchickfarmer91 Mark is special, no doubt.

  • The coolest way to play in 11! Love the upright bass percussion

  • My favorite song of Gently Disturbed album.

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hala !!!!!!! la rumba!!!!!!!!!

  • @2:23,great harmony twist from the piano!

  • @kapdrums Yeah, man, a little bit arabic mood....G minor in A minor phrase, note Bb instead of B in A minor makes a very Arabic mood.

  • @chupeaux This is what Israeli artists are trying to show the world, and what their politicians can't seem to get across. Israeli culture is an equal blend of Middle Eastern tradition with European innovation and technology. If a piece of music like this was going to be written by anyone, it would be overwhelmingly likely the composer would be Israeli, as Avishai is. Anyway, no politics to argue over here, just saying that the cultural influences you hear in the music are really very Israeli.

  • @josephjstern It's ok Joseph, I understand you and I already knew what you tried to explain me. I wrote how I feel when someone plays/uses note Bb instead of B over natural Aminor, not how you or anyone else feel about....don't be angry....Forget an' f*ck politics, Avishai's music rocks!

  • This is my favourite tune off the simply brilliant "Gently Disturbed" CD.

  • SUPERIOR

  • transcending...

  • not enough stars to rate this.... they're amazing!

  • always reinventing!!

  • amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!
