  • @ 3:15 - end... pure musical f'ing genius!

  • Forever great!!!

  • One of my favorite songs from my favorite album ever. And yet I've never heard it played on a radio station. It's a shame because two generations have never heard it and probably never will unless they buy the CD. (or find it by chance here on Youtube)

  • There's just simply too many great songs on one album here ,.... Overture, Amazing Journey (Sparks), The Hawker, Acid Queen, Christmas, Cousin Kevin, Sensation, etc,..oh yeah,..and this one - Whole album is epic classic -

  • Townshend summed up the entire opera (both the story and the spirit) in less than 4 minutes.

  • Merci Gilbert...quel génie tu es !!! ...de Andrée

  • Saw Roger perform this a few weeks ago. First time I'd ever seen any of them live. This song in particular is so awesome because as great as it is you just can't wait for "listening to you..." to kick in.

    Love The Who!

  • Revolver by the Beatles and Tommy by The Who are the best albums from the 60'

  • I LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM 5 TIMES IN A ROW

    WITH PLENTY OF MARIJUANA

  • @jethrotull420 ohh, my god, one of my old nurses from work told me about how she used to spend many a mornings from dusk to dawn with the bird chirpin and The Who playing

  • @jethrotull420

dont you know that stuff will fry you..

    and then theres the marijuana

    lolo

  • sorry no i between so and great

  • Is it weird that this is my favorite Who song of all time?

  • @TomFromJersey no i wouldnt say so i great song. go to the mirror boy!

  • @TomFromJersey No, not at all. I love this song too. Sometimes the best songs are the ones there were not released as singles or get almost no airplay.

    This is a great song!

  • my favorite song from the album

  • @spudmuffin99 The typo is also in the album book, my guess is the uploader just copied the lyrics in there onto the description.

  • Best Who song ever? I think so.

  • One Fantastic Song

    Great Rock Opera

    Thank You

  • 2 dislikes, what the hell?

  • @JackDawson1010

I guess they were truly unreceptive, Jack!

  • Awesome Song off rock's Most Awesome album !! Light the candle !

  • I Totally Love This Song!!! "Tommy" was a brilliant album by The Who!!!

  • in the lyrics has anyone notice he typed "His eyes can hear, his ears can see..."?

  • @spudmuffin99 It's because he's supposed to be omnipotent ..he sees all, hears all through any of his senses, traditional means notwithstanding..

  • @kurskss Sure... bu the lyrics are "His eyes can see, his earts can hear..." and I was just pointing out a typo by the creator of the video..

  • It doesn't get much better than this!

  • @klee13401 I've been listening to this song basically all day, lol...absolutely love it.

  • Top shelf all the way! Need I say more?

  • This song is so amazing - the best song on the album for sure.

  • I see a lot of folks commenting "This is my fav part of the LP" I almost agree, how ever I like the refrain at the very end of the lp where they repeat the "Listening to you" part over and over till it fades... greatest ending to ANY rock and roll LP... ever.

  • Matt McKeen <3

  • @adri22700 Omg, Yes <3 This song only added to matt mckeens steeziness

  • Listen to Tommy with a candle burning and you'll see your future.

  • . . . from you I get opinions . . . . from you I get the story! - - - politics. Open head, insert opinon.

  • The Best Part is from 0:00 to 3:50

  • @ClassicRockerSr101 LOL the last time i heard that i fell off my dinosaur! well...my landline phone...

  • great song pops up in the heads of real rock fans occasionly. great drum job by a guy who dont look like he know how to drum.

  • Such a Great Melodic Song !! Such a Great catchy album from Rock's Greatest Band !! Awesome Lead Singing here from Roger !! just simply awesome !!

  • perhaps my fave who song.....

    ooh

    i wish

    i knew...

  • I always thought this song jammed, wonderful display of musical skills on all instruments although Moon could have played this in his sleep!

  • i like canada better sorry!

  • The songs on this album are arranged so much better than the ones in the movie. This song is just ridiculous in the movie, like a joke. I love Pete Townshend, but to me the film just wasn't much of anything, this is the true Tommy and forever will be.

  • j'adore !!!!!!!!

  • ---what is happening in his heeeeeeaaaad?OOOOOH,i wish,i kneeeeeeeeew...i wish i kneeeew.---

    GO TO THE MIRROR !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The movie would have been better if they used the original recordings. This song (and most of the others) are so much better on the original album than on the soundtrack.

Having said that, I love Elton's version of Pinball Wizard.

  • @GoblinGirl Elton's version of Pinball Wizard was great, so was Tina Turner's version of Acid Queen. Other than that I agree, the album versions were worlds better than the movie versions.

  • No one understands me like The Who.

  • I hate the way they completely messed up the song in the movie. It wasn't exactly bad, but it certainly wasn't the same.

  • @BlackMagnumFilms hey it's FUCKING JACK NICHOLSON !!!!,that's why I like it

  • @Masterhand1027 Yeah, haha, that's the best thing about it

  • If I ever become a doctor, this is my theme song.

  • @CoastersForever You'd make a great doctor:

Fever of 105? "He seems to be completely unreceptive."

Cancer? "There is no chance, no untried operation."

Stroke? "Imagine, though, the shock from isolation, when he suddenly can hear and speak and see."

Severe necrosis of the face? "Go to the mirror, boy!"

  • @rizikm Brain damage?"All hope lies with him and none with me."

  • This is the one song I play every single day. Brilliant

  • I don't need to say anything................

  • Best. Band. Ever.

  • roger really makes this song alive

  • Moon was fantastic.

  • Favourite song on Tommy :)

  • 2 people should go to their mirrors and stare at themselves forever

  • Comment removed

  • moons drumming makes this song

  • @BungalowBilly1 Er, no.

  • Right behind you I see the millions. On you I see the glory

  • Just awesome! The Who ftw!

  • There is a scene in GaGa's Bad Romance video where she's got a black outfit and black blind-people glasses on and she's looking at herself in the mirror and some articles said that she was referencing this movie. I can't find any scenes on Youtube that show Tommy in the mirror, is that really part of the movie? What is he wearing in that scene?

  • @OoMASEoO Nevermind, I saw the movie. There is a section of the movie where he stares at the mirror for a while, but he's wearing regular clothes. And no glasses.

  • @OoMASEoO It's more likely it was the album she was referencing, since the album is really what most people are referring to when talking about "Tommy".

  • @OoMASEoO I guess "Go To The Mirror, BOY" would fit Gaga well.

  • i think this song would be so much better faster

  • @AlexXxtestify Tenacious D did it very well at Reading Fest! On their who medley

And yes, it sounds really good =)

    Cheers!

  • Jack Nicholson did a pretty good job on it, though.

  • 'His eyes can hear, his ears can see' I lol'd (It's in the description)

  • 1st song that set the Who hook into me...way back when

  • one of the best parts of the opera. i definetly love that song.

-what is happening in his head, oooh how i wish i knew-

i often wonder what happend pete townsents head...

    and i love keith moon

    WHO IS GENIUS

  • This album is awesome!!! Don't thumbs up, I just wanted to make my opinion known.

  • tommy was blinded by the awesomeness!!!

  • Love this song, Specially from about 2:38 on. Favorite part. Def. the best song on the Album

  • a true opera tommy is :]

  • this song seems to use the same rhythm track as "we're not gonna take it"

  • Truly a masterpiece.

  • "His eyes can hear, his ears can see, his lips speak"? He is indeed very troubled boy.

Otherwise "Tommy" is a great album.

  • Oh! It's here on this page- "Go to the mirror" Pete Townsend Demo -RARE

  • If you ever get a chance, check out the Tommy Demos. Very cool stuff. This song had additional lyrics that I suppose were too icky for mainstream, so didn't make it into the movie or the album: "I've kicked him, licked him, rubbed him, hit him, loved him. Everything in vain to let him know."

  • Aha! Thanks for that--those lyrics were in the "reggae Tommy" (with Avery Schreiber!!)(not as crap as it sounds actually, ha ha) and always wondered where they came from, thanks!

  • This song sounds 10x better on vinyl. And yet, this version is still wonderful.

  • I used to have this back in high school. Thanks for posting. I love this song!

  • Wtf. I thought this song was lame but i just had to press the like button lol. :P

  • IMO this has to be one of their best songs and is their best melody

  • truly the best song on the album this one and the overture/its a boy are the best

  • to the two people who don't like this.....FUCK YOU!

  • @transformer01234567 relax im sure they were just so blinded by brilliance they missed the like button

  • Yep, best on the album!

  • keith moons drumming makes this song top class

  • oh keith we miss you so much you brought magic to this song

  • The Who.

  • He seems to be completely unreceptive....

  • I love this song-- it's really the climax of Tommy-- love its depth & complexity-- and its sheer genius!! The Who rule and always have!

  • One of the better songs ever made.

    SPS

    San Clemente, California

  • I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks this song is the best song on the album. My older sister gave this album to me for Christamas when I was in the 9th grade. I played it till the grooves wore out. It's still my favorite album of all time. Peace.

sally Simpson or do you think its alright.

  • @Pikmin311 no

  • @Pikmin311

    Absolutely.

  • One of the greatest under rated songs of all time

  • @lalabuy IS! This I consider one of the best songs of all time!

  • @lalabuy You are 100% right, why can't anyone write music like this now days?

  • You are so right! I remember my brother giving me this cassette for a Christmas present I was only six years old and I actually wore out the cassette mostly because of this song.

  • @lalabuy You are so right. This is a great song that is underrated. Tommy is an awesome album and the most creative album The Who has ever done.

  • look at the lyrics

no wonder he's fucked up if he's eyes hear and he's ears see

  • Huh....... !

  • 2:33

That's when my favorite part kicks in. It's just building up so much awesome.

  • IMO this is one of the best songs on the album. It can get addicting for me.

    "I get the story..."

  • true that.

  • Awesome!

  • Also at 2:22-2:23 that classic 60s sounding guitar, it's like the pseudo sitar sounding.

  • I love Moon the Loon's drumming in this song! The last part of it is perfect.

  • it's always perfect ;)

  • not a bad song at all

  • i think the first think tommy would do when he suddenly can hear and speak and see, it`s listen to the Tommy album..

it`s the most fantastic album ever made!!

  • You've got it, daltreymoon :D Peace !

  • dude...my favorite part has to be the "go to the mirror boy." i think they could've looped that part for a couple of minutes and i still would've loved it. lol

  • On Vinyl

  • dito!

  • freaking love this song!!
