@RafalMachelskiMoVeR Actually, Rafal, it actually TOTALLY DOES depend on shutter speed. If you use the correct 2x ratio of shutter speed to fps (1/48sec for 24p, etc) then the cinema motion blur you get, along with you correctly moving your camera, will result in you NEVER seeing this rolling shutter nonsense.
Oh, and the RED, the Phantom, and every single 35mm and 16mm camera has a rolling shutter.
@Pwells1 yes, basically you have right, but on canon if i set 1/30 or 1/2000 sec i have the same rolling shutter effect (skew pictures), of course with different motion blur.
@Pwells1 You're ignorant about this, Pwells. There is a vast difference between digital and analog rolling shutter. Plus there's a massive difference between digital capture algorithims.
There is a very powerful plugin to correct the rolling shutter effect. It is called Rolling Shutter from the foundry. Here is an example - youtube.com/watch?v=Zt0u9hsPuZY
on full HD moving kinda sucks, but I saw some tests on the 5d mkII and it's the same thing. Eventhough we don't usually move the camera back and forth while shooting it's something to be aware of and avoid those kind of movements. This camera still rules and is above all other competitors, mine is about to arrive, can't wait! Good luck and post more videos.!
by the way, I asked you that cause a friend of mine said that with the IS or VR on, it interfieres on shooting (in a bad way). any experience with that?
yes, in 30p both camera (7d and 5dmk2) have the same rolling shutter, but 5d doesn't have 50/60p mode where rolling shutter is very small.
your friend has basically right. for example: if u want make fast panning shot, and u have camera on tripod, then u must turn off IS/VR because stabilisation may compensate camera movement.
but stabilisation and rolling shutter is a differend notions.

What shutter speeds did you shoot at?

@Pwells1 i don't remember, sorry. but this is deos't meaningful. rolling shutter does not depend on shutter speed.

@RafalMachelskiMoVeR Yes, the rolling shutter artifacts will still exist, but you will never notice them.
