Ii don't know if there is any difference in power between the e39 euro and USA.

With e36 the difference is a lot, but thos are two complete different engines.

Lotus Omega is also cool but not so reliable as the M5.

@Konformation07 the difference is, that the euro spec has 3.0L displacement. the USA version has 3.2L . the amount of hp should be about the same, but the torque is higher in the USA version. another point is, that the USA version doesnt rev that high. the euro spec revs up to 7500 rpm redline. the USA version up to 7200 rpm .

You give the 500E as an example (i also love that car by the way), but believe me the 500E can't match this M3 at any way of performance. The BMW M5 e34 is already faster. I've also raced a M5 e34 3.8 and was no match for me. Only the e39 M5 beast could keep up with me. You can't always see it from (speedo) movies. Sometimes you have put the cars head to head to eachother like i sometimes do ;-)

I say the M3 was far ahead of it's time.

It does 0-100 in 5.5s, 0-200 in 20s flat. In that time this M3 beated the Porsche 911 carrera easily.

The current M3 does it in about 16s. I still beat all Stock Impreza's and EVO's espacially from higher speeds like from 100km/h.
