@Mavrilon So glad that you've seen it. He's absolutely groovy. Lots of other reasons to recommend the movie too though. Eg I think that the late great Susannah York has never looked lovelier.
@Mavrilon He sure does. :-) And he seems to be having fun playing such a naughty, natty playboy. That he was on drugs at the time shows though. Spot on for the character, but not a good thing for him, of course. In a documentary on PERFORMANCE, he says that he regards DUFFY as a failed compromise between genre and art film. Perhaps, but I like it very much nonetheless, and I think that it deserves to be better known than it is.
Seemingly effortless editing from the editing queen, super cool vibe and great use of dialogue, that looks like a cardboard cut out of John Alderton at 0:06. Great work Ann! (need to check out that Day of the Jackal piece you sent me).
@zerokomma Thank you! Indeed, York looks particularly stunning in this one. The title music segues into source music, so I had to come up with something for the end. And I thought that something abnormal might be amusing. ;-)
anyone knows the title of the discotheque scene song?

@MultiCathy1 Thank you! Few people know it, I believe. It wasn't a great hit at the time. But I like it a lot.

And James Fox looks like David Bowie, true! Especially 1:11..
..or David Bowie looked like James Fox, who knows.. :))

@MultiCathy1 Yup, I agree. It made me smile to see Bowie and Fox together in ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS.

Love the way Mason says 'the net residual' fits perfect!

@sinbad0910 Ain't he great? He could make reading the phone book sound interesting. Someone once compared his voice to treacle.

@sinbad0910 Indeed, Alderton is so freaky! And I wonder if Bowie copied his early look from young Fox, or if they just had the same stylist. Grooovy!

@davidfromlille Thank you! The music is great throughout. Like a funky version of Henry Mancini. Wish a soundtrack were available.
