  • I win the lottery in Great Britain all the time, just have to check my email

  • The explanation for this trick is that there is a delay but the delay is a lot longer than you think as the Wednesday night lottery isn't drawn live. Its Drawn at the same time every week even if the result show is shown at different times. Thats why you can't buy a lottery ticket after 7:30 even if the result show is not until 10pm. All Derren Brown needs is an insider at the BBC who can see the result live then get the information to Derren Brown. The rest is Showmanship and misdirection.

  • Scott Mills is a cunt. End of. Now thumb me up or I'll cut your bollocks off.

  • I liked David Mitchell's rant on this, on Mock the Week.

    watch?v=_Q5Roqrmblg

    lol

  • nah i do actually think hes gorgeous :D

  • if youve watched the actual thing , he says at the end that it was all a trick.... thick mofos on the radio...

  • Hes so beautiful, hes used mind control on me to make me say these words :D

  • Smashie & Nicie real radio :)

  • It was a split screen using robotic motion controlled camera's that gave the illusion of a handheld cameraman.

You can see a FULL explanation here - watch?v=DODGRfzdfNU (it starts at part 4 of 5, the previous parts are about the TAM meeting).

  • It's magic............

  • I actually have less friends since the lottery "explination". I couldn't believe how many of these people I considered reasonably intelligent believed that you could predict a random number by averaging past numbers. WHAT THE FUCK!?

  • Its all about mathematics and the wisdom of crowds. Its about equations. Check out Bob Wholeness and his book 'Gentle Vag' and the follow up 'Vag'.

  • @Pentdad It wasn't, that was a lot of rubbish. See watch?v=DODGRfzdfNU

  • its an invalid claim that he predicted it, since nobody got to see the predictions he claims to have made, when he made it....lottery corp agreed to the stunt to hype up sales

  • help me! Have you saw this "vermont lottery master" statistician (should google it)? Ive seen quite few unbelivable oppinions about him and with my mate we thinking about lots of dollars to get with magic system. is it easy to use $ Vermont lottery master lotto system.

  • The interesting thing to note is that Derren Brown has never actually won the lottery jackpot. If he could really predict the lotto result he would bet money on it & would have won by now.

  • @Galv140577 You DO know what an illusion is, don't you? ;)

  • @Galv140577 people would hate on him, say he chated and now is rich blah blah blah

  • Comment removed

  • @xXVXPLiCiTVXx True. If I had a 100% guaranteed method of winning using 24 people, I would set up a secret organisation with 24 members, win it 24 times & use a different member to claim each time...

  • @Galv140577 lol but the media follows the lottery winner. they will wonder... "He won 20million yesterday, where is it all gone? WTF"

  • Derren actually revealed the 'secret' himself - see my video.

  • Comment removed

  • So he subconsciously told the balls to make a connection between dailymail and and being the right number. Makes perfect sense because the balls thought they were dailymail. Oldest trick in the book.

  • It has to take a hell of a psychic to predict the lottery numbers after they've been released.

  • it was just a trick ;)

  • most ppl think he was in the studio with only 1 camerman, he demostrated this by showing us a shot from above. of course this shot was pre-recorded with very good timing. you only have to watch this clip over again to see that he is waitin for the live feed again when he's waving to that camera above .u just have to look at the place where camerman 1 is placed.(look at background) and when this shot comes back to us from camera2(prerecorded).. just 2 seconds later it's no longer handheld.

  • Didn't he acually predict the lottery number *shortly after the lottery*? Anyone who has seen David Mitchell ranting about this knows what I mean.

Thats not even a trick. That's telling people the lottery numbers after the lottery numbers.

  • Ima predict that he can also fly, on TV.

  • yep it was a camera trick derren basically tells us in a subtle way of course

  • It is physically impossible to do this. It was a setup even thou it was live. Come on its Derren Brown the trick master he plays with our minds ;)

  • Watch the explanation videos on youtube if you actually want to work this out, it was a simple split screen camera trick.

  • @digitallytuned loooooooooooooooooooooooooool voila

  • Radio jerks are so annoying in their smugness. They seem to think that because they got to grammar school, they are somehow the new ubermenchen.....such a bunch of fucking block heads. Next time you see someone from a radio show, punch the twat in his big stupid head.

  • DAILY MAIL! DAILY MAIL!

  • Lol, i love the guy who said "it wasn't live there was about a couple minute delay and he had a guy who gave him the answers just before the news got them" and the other guys respond with "Nope, not plausible it was all live, no, NOPE NAH".

Even though that WAS how he did it.

  • Split screen fools.

  • nothing wrong with being obsessed with derren brown.i went to see him 3 days ago :D i made a t-shirt lol :P I can raed tihs bceuase i olny need the frist and lsat ltetres to mkae snece of a wrod, ralley my uncnsicouos mnid is diong all the wrok.

  • @jessicaharkin btu tahts esay! ntihnog to bsoat auobt.

  • @dorianleakey :| its in one of derrens dvds :\

  • Good ol' Radio1 :) hehe

  • Well i don't know about you lot but i believe EVERYTHING derren does. i think he would fake nothing, ever. but does anyone know a video that shows him predicting the lottery anywhere on the internet that is reasonably good quality and stuff?

  • I fail to see how what the girl said was funny... She can't use English, but what she said wasn't inherently stupid...

  • @deadeaded Yeah, what she said was extremely stupid actually. She was using the technique he used in a former show to try to explain how he predicted the lotto numbers. Like he was on the phone with the lottery people on TV and sending them subliminal messages about which numbers he wants as the winners and they somehow tampered with it to make those the winning numbers. It's insanity

  • But we had no context for that clip; maybe the first part of her answer was "I have no idea how he did that, but isn't he amazing? Cuz I watched his other show..."

  • Comment removed

  • That's not possible. That's like saying "I have no idea how he did it but I've heard that he went to lunch at the Olive Garden last week and he didn't tip!".

Complete insanity unless the story she was using as an example about him somehow described how he did the trick.

Remember the question was how did he do the trick. Only a loony would answer like she did whether she was trying to figure it out or not,

  • the right hand of the scrren was live the left hand of the screen wasn't, or vise verca i cant remember....

  • oh my god... it must have been some kind of equation, it is virtualy imposible to do it bassed on probability.

  • An equation? You live on stupid street too?

  • "he must have been doing some sort of equation" < and these people have the vote.

  • he kept tellin them daily mail daily mail but no one actually realised he was chop like puttin it in a sentence

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • Chappers for PM

  • i love this! so many lads wanna take a walk down stupid street.

  • sure you know there's ways to make any surface (like in balls) have wanted picture as fast as click of a button.

  • Does Mills live on Stupid Street?

    It was obviously magic!?!

  • he didnt "predict" the lottery.

predicting is when he says the numbers before they are revealed, he said them afterwards..yes it was live, but there was a split screen..

  • obviously

  • Actually in the show he had the numbers picked out in 6 balls on a stand before the draw happened. So thats a "prediction"

  • It was a split screen. Wasn't the explanation thing on TV some test to see how many people believed the 'explanation'?

  • @149scrat I dnt belive that, derren actually says that its kinda cringing when people think they know.

  • global conciousness project. if you understand how the research works ul understand how to apply it to future information systems

  • the only way Derren Brown can get my respect back for his amazingness is if he makes the whole nation poo themselves

....then therefore he shall be crowned a king............its not about the magic anymore, it generally is about the tv ratings,.....what a better way then seeing if an audience can poo themselves unwillingly

  • derren is awesome

  • This 'event' was something of a disappointment for me. Instead of something significant or interesting we just got a fairly simple trick dressed up with a rather weak piece of misdirection. The unpleasant side was the way he seemed to be pretending that the 'explanation' was for real. For me he stepped over a line there. If he is going to do such a thing at least make it convincing.

  • Firstly, I dont get why all these people are taking it so seriously.

Even if it was fake, who cares, it was a great show.

The show was also definitely not boring as some claimed. Just because he didnt reveal truly how he got the numbers right, doesnt mean the show was boring. I found the other aspects of the show very interesting such as the paper cups with the knife.

  • the whole explanation of it

    was NOT INTERESTING

probably the most boring Derren Brown thing ever

  • Agreed! The explanation was weak, trivial and more or less insulting to his audience. Very poor, perhaps the poorest yet.

  • LOL

  • How can one predict a random event?

There would be thousands of possibilities, depending on the amount of balls and slots for the balls to land in.

    Impossible.

If only maths were so deeps as to makes an equation to predict random events.

  • If an event is predictable in any way then it's not random. Actually the lottery isn't random either, but it's "random enough".

There are many very easy ways to do the lottery trick, though, with either rigged balls, image compositing, or augmented reality CGI. The only unusual skill required is Brown's amazing ability to manipulate a daft audience into thinking "there must be something more to it". He's the master of hype, nothing else. Although that's still impressive, mind.

  • imagine a remote controll digital watch, place this technology into a ball and bon a bing........ dress up with tons of hype and a lye that you will reveal and ....CASE CLOSED

  • whatever the hell he did, it worked. it got all you talkin bout it! Fact is whether that was a bunch of actors or real people gathering the data, or if they were using still camera tricks from the 1950's, or if he did infact rig the lottery, it served a purpose. HE GETS MORE FAMOUS NO MATTER WHAT YOU BELIEVE! So if you think he is good entertainment, like I do keep watching! If you dont like him and would rather be a narcissistic twat spouting gobshite on youtube, then fuck off

    Peace"*)}{(*"

  • ...that has been revealed for ages

  • it was deep maths

  • obviously an elusion half of the picture when he was showing the lotto on the tv, the side on the left was frozen so when they showed the numbers someone could come over and put the numbers on the white balls then they could start recording the left side of what we were seeing and every one thought he actually predicting it.

  • wot the fuk u have down syndrome. watch the video again. the camera wasnt completely still

  • i dunno if i beleive or not cos he does a lot of mind tricks

  • It`s all done with mirrors and a bottle of White Lightning...

  • dont radio 1 have a radio show and web page? so what they playing at here?

  • It's a video...

  • actually no! its a picture and blatent self promotion and upon listeniong to the video you can clearly see it has nothing to do with its advertisment at the top of said video, except being maybe a commercial for friday, which if i'm not mistaken is false advertisement possibly even entrapment. i do then wonder have BBC/Radio 1 paid advertising fees to youtube and share holders?

  • We're actually a fansite...

  • fan site of who? derran brown or radio 1?

  • did not need to lye and say he would reveal trick and then not, in past he has criticised derreck acora for not having integrity this lowers my opinion of him.

he is still a top performer but has been ill advised here.numbers were put onto balls imediatly after revealed by system simlar to old typwriter, as simple as that by remote controll...

  • that woman obviously belongs on stupid street.

  • Right: simple logic, really.

If you found out how to predict The Lottery, would you REALLY go around telling everyone else?! ;)

  • my analog tv signal is faster than cable broadcast's by about 3 seconds but that is not part of the trick

the lottery does not pause for audience but tv will pause delay the broadcast with advert's and some one in audience phone the numbers though live

  • a magician never reveals his secrets

  • but derren brwn said hel tel evry1 hw its done

  • good job hes not a magician then.

  • hes an illusionist

  • my god this guy is the lamest cunt on tv , quite an accolade

  • Derren Brown didn't cheat, he used 24 people to help him with a technique that he thought of. They done the technique and he was gonna use the numbers that the people chose, BUT he switched his predictions and the other peoples predictions and used his own one for the show

  • the ads on channel 4 all said he has been working on "events of misdirection" or something like that. The entire episode with the explanation was a fake, he will tell us the real explanation later.

  • he said he rigged the ball picking machine with heavy balls

  • It was a trick he done the numbers after they had been called out

  • i read in a magazine that, they kept a still image of the lottory balls and changed them when they found out what they were

  • Not possible the camera was hand held and there was a fair amount of camera shake so one half of the screen would have been shaking and one would have not, which did not happen

  • my sista has a crush on Derren Brown lol

  • Derren Browns Gay.!!

  • i know lolz i found it weird too

  • is he really?? lol

  • Even more alarming.... you can't write!

  • ...so?

  • well, that was lame

  • I know how he done it and it took months of preparation

  • He actually went to Australia. They're in the future there with time so got the results, flew back, and voila.

  • @digitallytuned

That would not work, because although it may seem we are "in the future" here in Australia because we're the first to reach every New Years, but the only difference is the time zone which is proportional to where your city is in relation to the earth's axis. Information doesn't recognize time-zones anymore, especially with the internet.

  • @karlkarlkarl1234 Err.., wrong. New Zealand is ahead of Australia.

  • he used a time maChiNe

  • "You got lovely eyes" LMAO

  • I think I know how he did it

  • MAGIC

  • Can you all give me your numbers please.

  • Do you really think if he could predict the lottery numbers he'd be doing this?!

  • p.s can you post a photo of Fiona? I wanna see her eyes

  • I hate radio presenters they always just ramble on and on and then afterwards you realise you just wasted 5 min of your life.

  • if you hate it then why are u listening to it? people love scott! :)

  • if derren can use willpower to control things...then why doesnt he willpower his receding hairline to stop receding? :)

  • that was a laame joke.

  • tee hee :D

  • FREE PS3 VIEW CHANEL TO SEE HOW

  • dont know what to believe but it pisses me off that when we ask the truth they just bullshit us even more!

  • ... although the 3ds max shaking thing is plausible too.

  • Obviously robotically controlled cameras, one of which being the split screen camera. The balls on the left were from a prerecorded film. Look at the shaking of the camera, they did that to make people think they didn't split screen - but they did.

  • It is IMPOSSIBLE for the collective subconscious of 24 people to find a pattern in something that has NO pattern. In order to predict the next winning lottery numbers there must be an inherent PATTERN to the lottery. There isn't because it is random. Therefore those 24 people categorically did NOT predict the lottery outcome. Why do you think he didn't show them the numbers???

  • He never claimed there was a pattern. A large part of it he said was willpower, like the coin toss before it, although that wasn't due to willpower. He was claiming that the more they were wanting it and knew each other better the more it could happen. I'm not saying he did it, or that i believe that's true, so please don't reply swearing/ insulting etc like some would.

  • ha ha ha ha! I am sorry but if you think collective willpower can win the lottery then there is no hope for you. Even if 1% of you believes that then you are a total lunatic. Derren Brown is an expert in suggestion. Not the paranormal.

  • shut teh fuck up you fool punk ass fucker wanker tosser

    lol

its realllllllllll, now i must go play with my flying pig

  • Christ there are some really stupid people in this country.

Jesus christ it pisses me off.

  • Do you think you know the answer then?

  • yes its edited

you can see the last ball on teh left lift on its own

which means the balls have been replaced and then the film edited

    its a split screen effect

    i hate edit magic shows.

i can do it with my own camera and so can you

  • no, never said I did, but honestly listen to the last person.

  • The whole 24 people studying previous lottery results and subconsciously finding a pattern and writing out the correct numbers is all part of the illusion!

The live thing he did used a camera trick as to place the correct balls in the holder. He wouldn't own up to just using a camera trick so he fabricated the back story with the 24 people guessing the numbers.

A very clever trick and well exectuded; it is still a trick though.

  • You can't predict the lottery !

He went on about deep math's, no doubt he's an intelligent bloke, but the idea of Randomness, is based purely of probability. It's 14 millions too one to have the winning ticket, so it doesn't matter how many tickets you have. So if you look at it in that way, you can clearly see that derren brown cannot predict the lottery due to fixed probability which is the opposite to randomness,te best Dr's in maths agree that randomness is the impossibility of predicting

  • all these people sayin it was a setup and everythin if u watched some of his ther things you'd know how good he is..in 1 show he did he had a container filled with plastic balls and told a woman to drop as much as she wanted. he told her how much she'd dropped and he was right hes really good watch his other stuff

  • some people are so thick, what kind of time altering maths do you think exists?

  • il explain how film movement is simulated for you 3ds max boy, crop the film slightly, now the cropped film can 'move' around the edge of the cropped film, simulating movement of the camera, where really its just a cropped film effect. Now i no very little about film, and don't blow my own trumpet like you. But i do know the simple bits like that so go figure what you know??

  • hahaha, i'm really glad for you that you have so much faith in Derren brown, its nice, its a bit like how my lovely little cousins belive in father Christmas. Do you seriously belive that those people came up with the lottery numbers, through 'deeeeep maths' oooo mean averages, so deep. Ha how do you know, what i know about camera work. Of course there is an effect that makes the screen seem like there is movement mr 3ds max. haha you really dont know shit.

  • Hi danielb1234567891234. Wow umm I'm not too sure how to say this, i think your mother should have by now, but I'm afraid to say that, no, magic isn't real you "retard/dumb fucker/ with no common sense". Of course its a trick you rude, ignorant, child, he admits its a trick, he is not making any claims of being able to preform "magic". If YOU had any common sense you would realize that 24 random people can't just come up with random numbers that mean average are the national lottery numbers!?

  • and i know its a trick you daft bastard its just real compicated maths but your stupid ass cant even get the average of a group of numbers and yes they can did you not watch the show on how he did its compicated physcology and complicated maths

  • and who the fuck is a child you stupid fucking slag your just a retard thats too fucking stupid o understand something so simple. and every1 is too busy thinking its fake to look properly at the vid then actually think how he did it but since they are too stupid to do that or too lazy they say its fake just cause they cant be assed to think just like you

  • lol real complicated maths.

You mean statistics and chance. Which maths can't help you with. It is a trick, but it isn't anything to do with maths.

  • i thought this was really weird last night.

i kept thinking it was poop xD

  • and the overlay would not work because if you took a picture and copy 1 half of the pic and put it over the top of the pic then it would be in the same position no mater what and since the camera was moving the riht side of the camera would not match the pic on the left side meaning its impossible plus the 1sec delay there is isnt between him getting the lottery results its inbetween the signal of the show reaching ur house and there is no way they can change the signal once it as been broadcast

  • and even though the show on how he did it was last night there is still a bunch of retards thinking he faked. its just common sense there was no camera tricks on live tv and he as already shown how to do it. you still think its fake it means your pretty much a retard with no common sense

  • fucking hell there is some dumb fuckers on this planet all the people that think this is fake are retards since he could not use a overlay over 1 half of the screen wile the camera moved ecause the overlay would stand out and there is no such thing as splitscreen also he showed how he did using 24 people and just very very complicated maths. so if you have any common sense you would see there is no camera tricks.

  • You're a right loser! the camera didnt really move u idiot. it was a standard digital effect that gives the appearance of horizontal and vertical movement by the fact that the whole image of a shot is never in view so it can be 'moved'. everything else you wrote is rubbish! lol

  • and you would know right ? since you know everything about camera trickery and special effects? NO you dont. i do i make special effects using 3ds max i also know how to create different effects from camera angles and also camera tricks and nothing i said is rubbish its just your too much of a retard to read it and understand anything. ;its fucking common and of course the camera moved he walked into ethe room with the camera guy following him showin there was a camera man

  • and there is no such thing as a digital effect that makes the camera move

  • its fake. they froze half the tv so as he saw it we just saw a still picture

  • Nah guys it was just 'deep maths'

  • its wasnt faked, the national lottery is live, if the whole stunt was fake then there would be a few million lottery ticket holders that would be quite upset. its either derren brown is quite fuking amazing or the lottery is shambles (but then half of the countrie would have been scammed)

  • you can't just right ' derren brown is stupid, he obviously used some sort of technology'

I mean some sort of technology? Come on, but since everyone is entitled to their own opinion il leave you be, but next time, give a little justification

  • his next show says it will stick you to your seats litteraly i hope its better that last nights but last noghts wasnt that bad

  • it was what he said it was, but I reckon there was some secret hypnosis involved that we didn't know about.

  • The whole thing was ridiculous. I don't think anyone is going to believe it was anything more than a cheap split-screen camera trick. If he'd have given his prediction before the results, that would have been something. Last nights show was just him trying to give an entertaining background story to it. Unfortunately it was neither entertaining nor remotely plausible. Not one of Derren's better 'tricks' and very disappointing.

  • That programme was an hour of my life that I won't get back. What a waste of time. Bog standard conjuring trick using some technology.

  • I think donepearce and i must be telepathically linked. After watching the show that is EXACTLY what i thought as well!!!

  • this took a year of trying to work it out. he got 24 people to look at the last years lottery draws he then asked them to write down what they thought the next balls would be then he got the average of each ball and that was the answer he did that 2 times before the live version and the 1st 2 times he only got 3 balls right then 4 the next and they were just lucky that it worked for all 6 on the night

  • Things like this lottery predicting event, seem to uncover alot of stupid people who like to crack conspiracy theories :P

  • I love stupid street! <3 .

  • split screen. idiots

  • It took years of careful planning. What he did, started 2 years ago:

Laid all ladders in his area flat on the floor.

Remove all Mirrors from his house.

Kill all Black cats within and 10 mile radius.

Then, after 2 years of good luck, he focused all the good lucky energy and... well.... guessed?
